Quietly, Crystal handed the phone back to Priya.

“Who do you think would be the first person you would reveal yourself to?” Priya asked, watching her closely. “I really want to know.”

Crystal gave a small scoff.

“First,” she replied simply.

Priya raised her eyebrows in surprise.

“Anyone who wants to see this unknown writer must first pass through you,” Crystal continued calmly. “Only the person with the highest offer will have the chance to meet me.”

“Auction?” Priya repeated softly.

Crystal’s lips curved slightly. Priya Brown had always known that Crystal Merry was incredibly clever—a woman whose beauty was matched by her intelligence.

An auction, just for the opportunity to meet an unknown writer, sounded unbelievable.

But Priya also knew something about the world they lived in: wealthy people often spent enormous amounts of money on prestige and exclusivity.

After all, as the saying goes, money works for the rich.

So if Crystal were to organize an auction for those eager to meet the mysterious writer, she knew exactly how much attention—and money—it would attract.

There would be a great deal of money involved. Everyone wanted to know how the story would end, and curiosity alone would draw many people in.

Only the person willing to make the highest offer would be given the chance to discover the ending of the story. The rest would simply be left waiting, trapped in suspense.

Of course, there would also be consequences if the person who won the opportunity decided to reveal the ending.

That risk could not be ignored.

But Crystal had already considered every possible outcome. Instead of a private meeting, the revelation would take place during an online reading event. In that way, the moment could be controlled, and if anyone attempted to leak the ending beforehand, there would be clear consequences.

Crystal was not careless. Every detail had been carefully planned.

She understood the value of mystery, and she knew exactly how to use it to her advantage.

Around dusk, when the sun was slowly setting and night was beginning to fall, the pale light of the moon started to appear in the sky.

At the Harrison villa, near the entrance gate, Crystal stood quietly.

Her cheeks were slightly flushed, and the red dress she wore highlighted her figure, making her stand out even more in the fading light.

Just then, she noticed Leonard Harrison’s car parked in the driveway.

He had returned earlier than usual.

Normally, Leonard did not come home until very late—sometimes around eleven at night or even closer to midnight.

As Crystal walked through the entrance of the mansion, she immediately heard the sounds of voices from inside.

The soft clattering of spoons and forks echoed through the dining hall, mixed with quiet conversation and occasional laughter.

Going into the house, Crystal quietly approached the dining area.

Seated at the table were Grandma Harrison, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison, and between them was Leonard Harrison.

Oh my God.

This was the first time she had ever seen Leonard Harrison dining together with members of the family.

They hadn’t noticed her yet, so she remained by the entrance, unintentionally eavesdropping on their conversation.

Grandma Harrison was the first to speak.

“Leo, when will you give an heir to the Harrison family? I’m getting old. I might die someday soon, and I want to see my grandchild before that happens.”

“Mum, don’t pressure him,” Mrs. Harrison said gently. “When they’re ready, they will give an heir to the Harrison family.”

Crystal bit her lip.

What did they mean by “they”? They hadn’t even asked for her opinion when she was married to Leonard Harrison, yet now they were talking as if the decision belonged to both of them.

And suddenly, they expected him to produce an heir for the Harrison family.

A bitter thought crossed her mind.

Over her dead body would she willingly give an heir to the Harrison family.

Crystal quietly left the dining area and walked down the long corridor toward her room. The voices from the dining hall slowly faded behind her, but the words she had overheard kept echoing in her mind.An heir for the Harrison family. Her lips pressed into a thin line. When she reached her room, a tray of food was already placed neatly on the small table by the window. The steam rising from the food told her it had only just been delivered. As usual, she would be eating alone.Crystal barely glanced at the food. She had lost most of her appetite lately.Instead, she walked to the wardrobe and changed into a bathrobe before heading into the bathroom.Soon, she slipped into the warm bath. The hot water wrapped around her body like a gentle embrace, easing the stiffness in her muscles. Crystal closed her eyes and leaned her head back against the edge of the tub.For a moment, everything was quiet. But even then, her thoughts refused to rest. She had been working day and night, desper

She had also dressed differently. She wore a slim, plain red dress that brought out her shape. “Priya,” she said as she walked over and exchanged handshakes with Priya. Their names were very similar: Bella Brown and Priya Brown. She had first come across Priya at a party and had found her to be very trustworthy. Priya had agreed to help hide Crystal Merry’s true identity and protect her secret. She promised to assist Crystal in keeping her past hidden while helping her rise to fame in the movie industry. The only people who knew about her new identity were Laura Adams and Priya Brown. Not many people knew that Crystal Merry was an actress. She was also still a writer. “Priya, I must say you made me very happy today. You made my day feel great,” Bella Brown said. She appeared to be a naive and sweet girl, but she felt confident once she stepped out of the Harrison villa. Deep inside, she knew that if the Harrisons found out the truth, she would be in serious trou

It was difficult to tell whether Leonard Harrison was pleased or angry. His expression revealed nothing, yet his cold stare sent goosebumps crawling across Crystal’s skin. This was the first time he had ever stepped into her room—her personal space. For three years, he had kept his distance, as though even sharing the same air with her was an inconvenience. His gaze moved slowly around the room. There was no hiding the faint look of distaste in his eyes.Delicate red flowers decorated nearly every corner. Soft petals rested in glass vases, and on the bedside table sat a carefully arranged bouquet of red roses—fresh, fragrant, and calming. The gentle scent lingered in the air, meant to soothe the mind and ease the heart. It was a room filled with warmth. With softness. With quiet longing. But Leonard stood in the middle of it like a stranger who did not belong.Crystal straightened her posture at the dressing table, pretending not to notice the way his eyes examined every detail.Th

Crystal Merry stepped into the bathroom early that morning to refresh herself. Leonard had already left to meet his mistress, as usual. Alone again, she found herself wondering how her father could have sold her so easily—as though she were nothing more than a bargaining chip. She could not understand it. Perhaps she never would.Just as she changed into a bathrobe, her phone buzzed. She paused. It was a private message from Priya Brown, the director of an international company.Crystal’s expression shifted instantly. She moved quietly toward the window and glanced around to ensure no servants were nearby. Even a passing car outside caught her attention. Only after confirming she was alone did she answer the call. When she spoke, her voice was no longer soft or wounded.“Hello.”The transformation was unmistakable. The fragile, humiliated wife was gone. In her place was a calm, composed woman whose tone carried authority and confidence. This was a side of Crystal Merry no one in th
