Damon’s POV

My eyes widened in fear as Melody raised the knife whose blade was glistening with my blood in the air. I could feel the blood drain from my face in horror as I looked down my chest to see the injury she had already inflicted on me.

Before I could tell what was going to happen next, she plunged the blade deep into my chest again for the second time, on the same spot. I tried to scream but the sound died in my throat before I could let it out. I could not even move my arms, it felt like they were paralyzed as I fell helplessly on the cold floor in the pool of my blood.

I peered into Melody’s cold and expressionless face, her dark eyes were gazing intently into mine as she slowly twisted the knife she buried in my chest. The pain shot up my spine and I winced loudly, tears rolling down my eyes as I stared at her pleadingly.

Her eyes held no pity as she yanked the knife out of my chest forcefully, her breathing ragged and her face filled with rage. The knife blade glinted as she raised it in the air and was about to plunge it into me for the third time when a voice caused her to halt.

“How foolish you are, Kieran!” the voice resonated. I could immediately tell who it belonged to from the tone.

It was the seer that had prophesied about my future! But how was she here?

“I warned you, didn't I? Yet, you decided not to heed my advice and foolishly allowed yourself to be deceived! Now, meet your doom. No one disobeys my orders and goes without punishment, no one!”

I opened my mouth but before I could speak, the seer vanished and Melody lunged at me with a scream but I jerked awake with a strangled gasp before her knife dug into me again.

My heart hammered against my chest in trepidation as my eyes darted around the space in fear. I sat upright in bed, drenched in sweat. My breathing hoarse and labored as my eyes roamed the dark room. Instinctively, my hand flew to my chest, frantically patting the spot where Melody’s blade had pierced me but there was nothing there. There was no sign of blood on my chest or the bed. I was alive and in my room not lying in the pool of my blood.

My lips parted and I released a shaky breath, the gory scene swirling through my mind.

“It was just a dream,” I tried to remind myself as I ran my fingers through my golden locks, trying to calm my racing heart.

Pushing the cover off my body, I swung my legs over the bed and stood up on shaky feet but I was still filled with dread. I needed to move, to walk, run, anything to shake off the lingering terror of this haunting dream. My legs wobbled slightly as I began to move but soon got stabilized.

My mind raced as the words of the seer flooded my thoughts. “What did she mean by that? Why did she say I ignored her warning?” I muttered, feeling disturbed by the seer's threat.

I followed every word; I chose Amelia because she has the crescent mark. The mark was supposed to be the sign that she was my destined mate, the one who would bear my heir.

She had it all, so what else could I have done wrong? Did I misinterpret something important or could I have missed a sign?

I recalled the enraged look in Melody’s cold eyes and my breath hitched as panic slowly filled me. The dream felt real, too vivid.

Was this a sign from the moon goddess that she was planning to kill me?

My eyes darkened and I became enraged at the fact that she even dared to challenge me in my dream. The image of how vulnerable I looked before her as she stabbed my chest repeatedly flashed through my head and I smacked my hand angrily against the bedside table.

How dare she?

The sound echoed in the dark room causing Selene to stir in her sleep.

“Baby?” Amelia’s sleepy voice called as she tried to stand up. “Why are you up?” She asked, rubbing her sleepy eyes.

My shoulder slumped as I walked towards her. Her eyes watched me in concern as I crouched down and placed a soft kiss on her forehead while rubbing her belly.

“It's nothing, my love, I just had a terrible dream,” I replied as I massaged her shoulders gently.

“What dream? Tell me about it, Kieran,” she urged me.

I shook my head, a small smile playing on my lips. “It's nothing to bother yourself about, it's just a dream. Go back to sleep,” I told her.

She shook her head stubbornly, insisting. “I want to know. You can tell me anything, Damon. what dream made you so agitated? You look worried,” she pestered, cleaning off the sweat on my forehead.

I sighed heavily. “It's Melody .”

Her brows shot up. “What about her?”

“For some reason, I cannot comprehend, she stabbed me viciously in the chest.”

“What!” She gasped as fear crossed her eyes at my revelation. She looked down at my chest in worry, and seeing that I was unharmed, she let out a sigh.

A smile stretched on her lips as she stroked my hair soothingly. “That would never happen, Melody wouldn't dare harm you.”

“No!” I retorted and stood erect, “I can't trust her, Amelia, this might be a sign. What if she goes on to plot with my enemies to bring me down? She knows too much about the pack for me to just let this warning slide like that. It would be a grave mistake on my part if I don't act on this and I'm not ready to risk it. Guards!” I roared in fury.

“Baby, there's nothing to be afraid of, believe me when I say Melody has nothing on you,” Selene said reassuringly as she climbed out of bed and walked over to me.

The door soon opened and two guards walked in. “Alpha,” they bowed in respect.

“Go get Melody now and bring her to the meeting hall.”

“Yes, Alpha,” they chorused and hurried out of the room.

Amelia stroked my arm, “I’m telling you..”

I cut her off by wrapping my arms around her in a hug. “Relax princess, I will sort everything out.”

She wanted to speak again, but the door opened, and the guards fell on their knees before me. “We couldn't find her,” one of them reported, and my forehead creased.

“What do you mean you couldn't find her? Did you search for her anywhere else apart from her room?”

“We searched everywhere, Alpha, she's gone. Her things are not in the room too.”

“What!” I exclaimed in shock as my eyes fell on Selene who looked unfazed as she went to sit on the bed,

I wasn't expecting Melody to leave this fast after I had rejected her, didn't she say that she loved me? How could she leave the moment I dismissed her? She should have stayed longer and pleaded more for me to accept her back.

I pinched the bridge of my nose and let out a frustrated sigh before turning to the guards whose heads were still hung low. I was about to dismiss them when I felt Amelia’s arms around me.

She stood on her tiptoes as she placed a kiss on my lips before resting her head on my chest. I stroked her hair lovingly, waiting patiently for what she had to say.

“I think she's long gone by now,” she muttered and looked up at me from my chest. “Melody,” she mentioned and returned to the position she was in.

“She's probably at her lover's pack now, the one she has been having a secret affair with.”

My brows furrowed in confusion as I pulled out of the hug and held her by the shoulder, “Why did you say that?”

“I… I had a conversation with her before she left, she mentioned that she was going to see a dear friend and would be spending some good time with him.”

I couldn't contain my rage at the information I just received, that slut!

I released my hold on Amelia and balled my hands in a fist as I turned to the guards, my eyes red with fury and my anger palpable.

“Listen up,” I said, my voice low and dangerous, my gaze murderous and cold. “Find Melody and bring her back to this pack. I do not care how you do it but do not return to this pack unless you have her, whether dead or alive!”

  • His Revenge Pawn   Chapter 083

Lucian's POV "This looks so bad," I commented, my face scrunched in distaste as I stared at the injuries of some of the warriors who were injured at the attack. It’s been days after the war but they couldn’t heal themselves and their injuries weren’t healing on their own. "It's poison, Alpha. The last time I saw something as strange as this was the night you returned from Moonblood pack and passed out from the injury you sustained,” The doctor began to explain, “The wounds on the guards are deep and they are healing slowly. For wolves like us, this isn't normal.”I placed a hand on my chin in thought and recalled that I was stabbed with a strange weapon that night of the attack when I was returning from Moonblood Pack, after my father's memorial. It then dawned on me that the weapons Damon's warriors used against us were the exact same ones. I clenched my fist angrily. “That rascal," I growled through clenched jaws and turned to the doctor. "Something can be done to save them, righ

  • His Revenge Pawn   Chapter 082

Damon's POV Two days have gone by since the war against Lucian happened. Lucian was still alive, walking freely and there was chaos within my council. The councilmen and my beta blamed me for what happened; for acting like a weakling and not leading the war like I should have. From their insinuations, I could tell they were beginning to feel that I wasn't fit to be the Alpha and were doubting my abilities. This was the first time something like this had happened, the first time the pack had gone against an opponent and lost to him. Lucian wasn’t like my previous opponents, he didn’t have the warriors or the strength to pull off such victory but somehow, he still managed to defeat the mighty moon-blood pack. No matter how hard I tried to find the loophole in my plans, I couldn’t come up with any.My mother had said she was going to handle everything, but I was running out of time and it didn't seem like she had a concrete plan on what to do.I was in my study, pacing about as I thoug

  • His Revenge Pawn   Chapter 081

Melody's POV I sat on the bare prison floor, reminiscing about my life with tears cascading down my cheeks. I was sad and heartbroken with everything that was happening. With every passing day, I regretted and cursed the day I met Agath. It was now clear as day to me that the Alpha didn't want me anymore, he wasn't even interested in my offer to help him fight against Damon anymore which was the reason he had kept me here in the first place. I had hoped I stood a chance with him after the kiss we shared. The kiss that was permanently engraved in my memory. Since he had initiated the kiss, I had thought he would soften up to me and punish Agath for lying against me, but what I got was the reverse and a harsher treatment from him. There was no passing day that I did not think about that day, that kiss had ignited something in me, something I hadn’t even felt with Damon, and even Erylis could testify to it. I have longed for him and yearned to have his lips on mine again ever since

  • His Revenge Pawn   Chapter 80

LUCIAN'S POV We got to the pack and immediately the injured warriors were taken to the pack clinic alongside the young man from Damon's pack who led the war. "Treat him with the best resources but not enough for him to heal entirely, I want him alive," I told the Doctor as they dropped the man who was wincing in pain. "Yes, Alpha." I stood around, watching the doctor tend to his wounds gently. Slowly, the color of his skin returned and he looked much better than he was when we brought him in. "He's stable now, Alpha, I will go check on the other patients," Doctor Allen excused himself with a bow and left the room. The young man on seeing that he was alone in the room with me and Kade let out a loud sigh as he locked gaze with me. It was evident that he wasn’t scared of us. I walked towards him with Kade at my side, keeping my eyes trained on him."Where's Damon?" I demanded coldly. His eyes darted between mine and Kade's, as he shook his head. "I don't know," he responded, and

Damon's POV "Why is it taking so long for them to return? It's been eight hours," Alonso said worriedly as he paced about the room with his right hand on his chin. We were currently in the meeting room, awaiting the warriors we had sent after Lucian to return. Judging from the number that was sent to attack Lucian in his hideout, I was convinced that everything would turn out well. Besides, he was oblivious to the arrangements we've made regarding the war. But the warriors had not returned. It was almost nightfall, and I was starting to get worried, but I didn't show it and remained calmly sitting in my seat, gazing at the council members. At first, the council members were displeased when they found out that I wasn't going to war with the rest of the soldiers as that was the ideal thing to do. Alonso was strongly against my orders for his son, Eric, to take charge of the war. The rest of the councilmen saw his point and began insisting I join them in war. But I reminded them that

  • His Revenge Pawn   Chapter 078

Lucian's POV I opened my mouth to speak but didn't even know what to tell Kade. He stared at me expectantly, waiting for me to give a reply to his question but how do I explain to him that I have been biased in my judgment? That my judgment had been clouded by my desire for revenge against Damon and I sent the pregnant woman to jail over the evil of another?I averted my gaze from Kade, unable to return his piercing stare. "She's still in the dungeon," I muttered without gazing at him at him, my voice barely above a whisper, "I sent her there when I found poison in her possession.”"Poison?" Kade exclaimed in surprise, his brows furrowed in disbelief."What exactly happened in my absence? And how did you confirm it was poison?” I went ahead to explain all the events that happened between the pregnant woman and Agath, the spy maid Damon had sent to my pack, including how I had executed her and sent her remains to Damon, prompting the war. "I'm not sure what to do with her," I continu
