Chapter 6 : The party

Ellen and Karen arrived at the house. " Well, this is where I stay, Ellen says. This is a beautiful house let's go in so I will see the inside, Karen asks. We have time for all that. Right now, we have to get ready. Karen nods. They head straight to Ellen's bedroom. " Cozy room, Karen compliments. Okay so we got two hours to get ready, and I have to text Blake that am at your house so he should come here instead ". 

Okay, good idea. I will go and freshen up whiles you call him. Ellen goes

into the bathroom and went under the shower. She does her business and then came out. " Okay am done, Karen, you can go and freshen up now. They are new supplies in there so if you want anything else you can take it ". 

After Karen went to the bathroom, Ellen hears her humming inside, and she giggles. She hears her cellphone ring. Ellen looks on the screen and sees her mother's name on the screen. She picks the call.

Hello, mom what's up? " Ellen are you home? Yes, why wouldn't I be? " I just called to check up on you and ask how your first day went ". It was okay, Everything was cool today and I have found a new best friend and she is the best. Her name is Karen. " That's great news darling, am happy you are settling well in school ". Yes I know right, Ellen says.

Oh, and another thing, am going on a date tonight with a guy. " What! you are going on a date on your first day in school with a boy you don't know anything about ".

No mom, I know a little about him, and Karen is also going with his friend so is like a double date. " Oh, darling I can't believe I won't be there to see you or dress you up ".  That has been taken care of mom everything is under control. 

" Okay listen Ellen, don't do anything irresponsible like drinking alcohol or having sex with him". I know you are Eighteen and you have the right but still d... Wooo, time out mom. No one is going to have sex. It's a decent party and there will be adults there.

" All right that's good but still look out for those horny boys, okay?

Okayyyyy mom, I hear you. No drinking of alcohol and no sex. " That's my girl, now when you are done dressing up, please take selfish and pics so that I will see how my beautiful girl looked ". 

Okay mom am you're gonna make me late so goodbye. " Okay bye love, and say hi to your new friend for me ". Okay mom I said. 

When Ellen is disconnecting the call, Karen came out of the bathroom.

" Great mom, she says. Yes, she's the best, Ellen responds. " I mean I practically heard all your conversation. Except for her part ". I chuckled. She started to pep talk me when she found out am going on a date. " No alcohol and sex dear, Karen jokes making Ellen laugh.

" Let's end playtime here. We got a date to catch". Karen says making a face putting a hand on her waist and tilting her head slightly up. Huh, what are you doing Karen? Are you trying to sound like a superhero? 

"Did it work?"

No don't do that again it sounded awful. " Oh don't be silly, I sounded great ". 

You know we could stand here all day and talk about your hero's awful actings or forget about going to the party course we have only an hour and a half a quarter minutes to get ready.

" Oh right let's begin with the makeup ". Arrhmm, I don't know much about makeup so I don't know how this is gonna work out for me, Ellen croons.

" Don't worry darling, course you got yourself a makeup genius ". Don't say that. " What? Karen asks. The word 'darling' because it makes you sound like my mother. Karen only laughs making Ellen pout at her.

" Help me do my makeup and get dressed first and I will take my time and do yours, Karen says. Okay, let's start. They did her makeup first then her dress. They were now deciding the type of shoe and purse Karen should wear. They finally choose a black sparkle purse and a red heel. You look really beautiful Karen. I mean wow, I always thought you are beautiful but tonight you are gorgeous. 

Thank you, Karen blushes. " But now it's time to turn you into the diamond of the night. So sit, it's time for me to work my magic". 

Ellen sits down and Karen applies a lot of makeup that Ellen didn't even know of. Karen, don't you think it's too much, Ellen asks.

" Shut up and just sit quietly. Do you want to ruin my hard work. You will be thanking me when am done". I

Ellen groaned in frustration.

She sits silently waiting for her to finish whatever she is doing. Ellen's eyes fell on the clock and she gasps. Karen, we will be late, we've already spent an hour and a half already we got only thirty minutes left. " Wait am almost done here. Karen says. She takes a minute and she finishes.

" Okay done ". 

Give me a mirror to see how bad you've panted my fa a... . All Ellen's words got caught in her throat when she saw her face in the mirror. The girl she saw in the mirror wasn't her. It was a girl who looked like a goddess. She was the most beautiful girl she had ever seen.

" I know you are about to thank me but there's no need, I know how great I am, Karen jokes. Ellen smiled through teary eyes. " Don't you dare cry and ruin my makeup, Karen warns? I used all my creative and hard work to do this art so please don't let your tears fall ".

Ellen takes her hand, thank you so much. I didn't think I could look like this. " Shh, my makeup hasn't done anything but you. You are the face that brightens up my makeup. I have done makeup for many people but none has shined like you Ellen ".

" Okay let's get you in your dress, we've already wasted a lot of time, Karen says.  Ellen takes out her dress and wore it. She was about to go into her wardrobe and look for a heel to wear but Karen stops her.

" You didn't think I would let you buy the dress without any shoes or purse, Karen smiles. I knew that if I told you, you wouldn't have allowed it so I secretly bought it along with our dress ".

Karen took out a bag and removed beautiful shoes and a purse. Ellen is blown away by how beautiful they were. It's really beautiful, it must cost a dime. " No it wasn't at all costly. Like I said the shop sells beautiful things but they are cheap ".

Thank you, Karen. I mean, we don't know each other that much and you're already done so much for me. " It's nothing, that's what friends are for. Now wear it and let me see how good it looks on you ". Ellen wears it.

Tell me how do I look? She asks. Karen took a second to respond. " You look perfect ". Ellen smiles, So do you. " Now let's wrap it up, the guys will be here soon ". Okay, I responded, Ellen responds.

They heard the doorbell ring when they were applying some perfumes. " Ellen, am going to meet them. Come down when you are ready but don't take too long please, Karen says. Oh, come on don't exaggerate, it's not like am not finished. Karen chuckled in response and left the room. Karen hears the door ring again and she hurried to the door. She opens it and gasps.
