Chapter 3

Did this man just threaten me?

I call his number again, but he does not answer. Chuckling to myself, I place the phone back from whence it came and I walk towards the windows.

“It’s all going wrong.” I say myself as I skip the hard glass of my apartment window. Pain course through my palm, but I keep hitting the substance.

After my fit, I’m left heavily breathing with a bruised palm. I slide to the ground slowly and I begin to cry.

I’m not crying because I’m afraid for my life. Fear is not in my dictionary, and it will never be.

I’m crying because I failed. I’m crying because for the first time in my professional career, I messed up.

And all for what? Meaningless sex?

But was the sex really meaningless? If so, then why did I lay in bed with that man until I fell asleep?

I shut my emotions down for a reason, and because they’re coming back to life again, mistakes are being made.

It’s time to fix all this. I sniff and I wipe the trail that my tears have left on my face.

It’s time to end this over and for all, and get back my infamous reputation. They call me one of the best assassins for a reason.

It’s almost noon, and this time, I don’t have the luxury to wait until midnight. My four hours have already begun.

I will correct my mistake, and kill the CEO; and after doing that, I will find who the disguised client is and kill him also. Just to show to the world, that I am not to be messed with.

I remove my clothing and I walk into my room, purposely walking towards to bathroom so I can take a shower.

Once all my clothing are removed, I walk into the shower and I turn it on. Cold water washes over me and it feels like I’m in a rain storm.

After my shower, I get ready to go to the CEO’s mansion. He won’t be at the company today, I learned from the news on channel six.

He staying home to recover.

After encountering me this time, there won’t be any recovering, only a grave and a priest.

When I am readied, I wear my signature look, which are leather pants, black crop top, and my black leather jacket.

I tie my blonde hair in a bun and I open the door of my apartment. I lock it as soon as I am outside, placing the key in my jacket.

“Hey.” A man startles me, and I study him carefully.

“Can I get your number?” He asks and I squint my eyes as I look at him. He looks very familiar.

“Have we met before?” I ask him, and he chuckles.

“Yeah, last night.” He says and my mind goes to last night. He’s the guy I winked at when I got on my motorcycle.

I give him a seductive smile and I close the distance between us. As I draw close to him, I realize what I’m doing.

I’m not tying to seduce this man. I’m comparing him to the CEO!

“Let’s do this another time, yeah?” I whisper hotly into his ear and he gulps as he nods.

“Yeah, sure.” He says and I withdraw from him.

“Bye, now.”

I give him a wink and he smiles lopsidedly.

I proceed towards the stairs, and when I reach them, I skip two at a time. I don’t have as much time as I think.

When I reach at the bottom of the stairs, I walk into the lobby, and then out of the building.

It’s a bit sunny today, and the wind is warm. I walk towards my motorcycle, and I climb on.

“Hey, miss.” I hear a voice and I look behind me. It’s a police lady.

“Do you have a helmet for that?” She asks and I scoff.

“I don’t have time for this.” I say to myself as I begin to drive away.

“Hey! Stop there!” I hear her, but that only makes me to increase my speed.

I speed through a few cars, and then I glance behind me to see whether she decided to chase me, but sadly no.

Too bad, although I am short on time, I’m in the mood for a little bit of fast and furious.

I breathe out a sigh of content as I drive towards the CEO’s mansion.

From my experience, he would have his security amped up.

When I enter the neighborhood, I see kids riding bicycles and parents on their lawn playing with their dogs, just everyday happenings.

This tells me that either I don’t have nothing to worry about, or that there’s a whole swat team at the CEO’s house waiting for me.

As I get closer to the mansion, I see the fencing, and images of last night with Robert intrudes my mind.

I keep hearing his moans and his gasps in my mind as I drive closer to the fencing.

When I finally get close enough, I park across the street, and I walk towards the fence confidently.

I look at the front gate, and I can see that they have already had it repaired. I can’t use my pen trick, that won’t work for the second time.

It is pretty easy to see what’s going on inside from the metal fencing. It has spaces that allows you to view the inside clearly.

From my view, the yard is clear. All the guards are at the other side.

I proceed to climb the fence, and like a cat, I do it gracefully and effortlessly.

When I am on the inside, I run towards the side of the huge house. I know Robert’s room’s window, so it would be easy to just climb through it.

I easily locate his window, and I use the giant tree that is right beside this side of the house as a ladder.

When I reach the top, I withdraw my dagger, prepared to thrust it at the CEO the first glance I get at him.

The window is opened, and so I crawl through it quietly, landing on my feet as I enter the room.

I see Robert, he looks up at me with a smirk and says, “You’re back for more?”

He’s sitting on the bed with his laptop on his lap.

“No, I came back to finish the job.” I say as I spin the dagger in my hand expertly.

“You’re sure?” He asks me as he places the laptop on the bed and folds his arms on his chest.

“Do you actually think I would break into your home again just to sleep with you?” I ask him, and he shrugs with a smile.

“Did you?” He asks, and I find myself staring at his body. He is shirtless and has only his boxers on.

What am I doing?

I can’t make this mistake again.

“Ge..get up.” I stutter and he laughs.

“You almost killed me.” He stands on his feet and walks towards me.

“And I thought we shared something special.” He adds.

Why is he not afraid? Something is wrong.

I need to leave.

As soon as I turn around to escape, I hear the door of the room open, and officers yell,” Stay where you at!”

“Let me see your hands!” I hear the other officer say loudly, and I drop my dagger on the floor and lift my arms up in surrender.
