A WEEK LATER

ALORA

I walked down the aisle and stared at my angry fiancé, standing at the altar. I couldn't believe a lie turned into reality.

I finally realized who I got involved with, the most powerful family in the city. The Torringtons.

Couldn't help but feel bad that I almost ruined a family and completely ruined things for Kellan but his father won't let this slide.

He said a rumor takes at least six months to vanish completely so until then, we will be married. Six months later, we can have a divorce and no one will think it is the normal scandal of Kellan Torrington.

Apparently, he is trouble-prone.

Kellan hates me so much and he never fails to tell me.

I got to the altar and stared at him, his stare was cold and I could tell he wanted to kill me.

We said our vows, the priest joined us together and from that moment, I became Mrs. Torrington. The bride of a billionaire. How the hell does that feel like?

I faked a smile at the guests Mr. Torrington picked out specially for us to greet. In a week, Mr. Torrington managed to build me a fake profile so everyone would see me as a child from a high-class family. He made everything so perfect that no one would ever have the thought that I am a commoner.

It was getting late already but more guests were still arriving and we needed to welcome them.

I exhaled heavily when we were done and looked around. I can't believe this turned out to be true. As much as this is good, I was exhausted and needed to get out of this dress.

“Can we leave now?” I asked, turning to Kellan, and he raised his brows. Again, he had this irritated look and I rolled my eyes.

“Isn't this what you wanted?” he asked and before I could speak, he did.

“Oh this is my boyfriend and he is so obsessed with me. In fact, we are getting married in a week and we will spend the rest of our lives in happiness till death do us part,” he said, trying to mimic my voice and I furrowed my brows.

“I didn't even say that and I don't sound like that. How was I supposed to know your father was going to do this?” I asked and he glared at me.

A reporter was coming towards us and I hurriedly placed my head on his chest and smiled. The reporter took different pictures and walked away.

“If you don't get off me, I will rip your hair off.” he threatened, his voice so cold that my heart skipped a beat and I pulled away hurriedly.

“Look, I’m sorry, okay? I didn't mean for this to happen, I did not know millions of people would see this. All I did was borrow you for a moment.” I apologized, hoping it would do something but he just glared harder at me.

I sighed and spoke up again.

“Let’s just get through this, okay? Your father said it's six months so in six months I will be out of your life and you won't see me again.” I said and his expression softened a little.

“And I promise not to get in your way for the next six months, I will make sure you barely notice me and I won't lie anymore, I won't also complicate things. I’m really sorry Kellan, please.” I pleaded and he hesitated for a few seconds then nodded.

I smiled and turned away from him and immediately my eyes caught Jake and Monroe walking towards us.

My eyes widened and I hurriedly locked arms with Kellan and he looked confused for a second. Jake and Monroe got to us and I smiled widely.

“Hey, Monroe. I didn't know you guys were invited.” I chuckled a little.

“We are one of the shareholders in a branch of Mr. Torrington’s company so they sent us an invite. Thank you, sir.” Jake said and I smiled.

“Oh, my husband is a good man.” I giggled a little. Jake looked disappointed and at the same time, he had this expression I couldn't understand.

“You know what? I am just going to ask. Why Alora? Why her? What is special about her? She doesn't even have anything. Did she threaten you to do this? Does she have something on you?” Jake asked and I stared at him in disbelief.

What the fuck?

“I know, right?” Kellan mumbled but only I could hear and I stepped on him a little which made him groan.

“It's funny you think that, we actually met while he was on a business trip.” I lied and Kellan paused.

“He approached me and told me I am the most beautiful girl he has ever seen. He confessed his love to me right there, claiming it was love at first sight.” I lied again and due to how nervous I was, my voice got a little louder and I gained the attention of the reporters.

“Really?” Monroe asked, finding it ridiculous.

“Yes! It was like one of those romance novels and he promised me that when we get married, we are going to have our honeymoon in Paris, right babe?” I asked, squeezing his arm.

Everyone was watching at this point. Oh, Alora. What have you done again?

“Yes,” Kellan replied with a fake smile.

“Wow, Mr. Torrington,” Jake said and I leaned closer to him and kissed his cheek which made people giggle and admire the scene.

Well, I might as well make the lie perfect.

Monroe looked upset but kept a fake smile, I could tell she was up to something.

“Oh, I forgot to mention. My husband and I just got back from our honeymoon and as a gift for being a loving wife, he bought me shares in Mr. Torrington’s company so I get to work and not be a housewife,” she bragged and I furrowed my brows.

She wants to turn this into a competition?

“Oh, I forgot to mention too.” I chuckled and Kellan squeezed my hand, he knew I was about to lie again but I couldn't stop.

“I need to speak to my wife… “

“My gift from my husband for being a great wife is to work in the main company of the Torrington’s alongside my husband.” I lied and the reporters paid full attention, everyone in the room did.

“Alora, stop it,” Kellan muttered but I ignored him. I can't let Monroe win and mock me.

“As a matter of fact, I will be at the company tomorrow, signing the papers and my husband will throw me a party afterwards. Mrs. Torrington is a spoilt wife.” I added with a smile and the crowd gasped and took pictures.

I was smiling widely but screaming in my head because I literally just killed myself.

What did I just do?!

ALORAI didn't know your father was going to blame you for it, I’m sorry.” I apologized for the umpteenth time in the car as we headed to his house. He ignored me as usual and I couldn't stop feeling bad. Every time, he is always taking the fall for what I do. The car drove into a house, not a house, a mansion and I paused for a few seconds as I looked around from the car. I heard the door open, snapping me out of my thoughts and I turned to see Kellan getting out of the car. “Kellan,” I called and rushed after him into the house. “Kellan, I’m sorry.” I apologized as we got into the house, but he ignored me and rushed up the stairs. I was about to rush after him when a middle-aged man showed up in front of me. Behind him were ladies dressed in uniform and I could tell they were maids, they were also positioned at a few corners in the living room.“Mrs. Torrington, welcome,” he said and bowed a little. Confused about who he was or what to do, I slowly looked around and bowed to him

ALORAI looked at Kellan and faked a smile at him, he kept staring at me and I could tell he wished he could rip my head off my body. I turned back to the reporters and smiled. Why do they always have to be present when I lie? They are the ones making this worse, they are spreading the lies. My eyes drifted to Mr. Torrington and he was staring at me with an expression I couldn't understand. I looked away immediately and gulped. I keep making things complicated for them. “Excuse me, I need to speak to my wife privately,” Kellan told the reporters, held my hand then pulled me out of the hall. “I know you are upset, I didn't mean to lie… ““What is wrong with you?” he cut me off, glaring hard at me and I paused. I could tell he was resisting the urge to yell at me due to how hard his fist was clenched. “I’m… I’m… ““You just promised you wouldn't lie anymore and the next second, you lied to almost everyone in the world,” he added.“I didn't know the reporters would pay attention to

ALORA He kept staring at me, looking like I stabbed him with a knife and I sighed. I actually scared him with what I did so I should apologize. “I’m sorry I lied and used you. I just needed to do something.” I apologized and his expression softened a little. Oh, he wanted an apology. “I’m sorry,” I added and he was about to speak when his phone rang. He pulled it out of his pocket and I stared at him. “Hey… “ he trailed off on the call and I tilted my head, seeing his expression had changed. Hmm, there is something odd about him but I can't just tell what it is. A thought popped into my head and I couldn't help but keep staring at him. He had a well-tailored suit on, which suddenly triggered a memory in my head. The prostitute I had a one-night stand with also had a well-tailored suit on, he looked as elegant as him which made me take a step closer to him to get a better look. He had a sharp jawline, and his eyes were Hazel. There were beads of sweat on his

KELLAN “You were drugged, sir. It was part of his plan. He wanted to set you up with someone he hired then take pictures of you and post them at the perfect time.” I stared at my secretary as he broke the news to me. “And you are sure about this?” I questioned. “Yes, sir. My source confirmed this. You were drugged.” he replied and I exhaled heavily, clenching my fist. “You know this is bad, right? I was with someone that night but I can't remember anything. If this person realizes who I am, they will use it to their advantage and I can't let that happen, not now that I am trying to fix things.” I replied and he nodded. “I am aware sir. I will try to find her and pay her off but we should be grateful he failed. You didn't sleep with who he hired.” “That doesn't make it any better!” I raised my voice and he flinched. “I can't even remember what happened that night clearly so how the hell do you want to find her? You know how bad they want to get rid of me, if this get
