LOGINCalista's POV
The second I heard the voice of that woman in there laughing with Gerald, my husband, my heart sunk to my stomach and anger roiled in my chest. I didn't care if he wanted to sleep around, but he could at least have the decency to do it secretly, not here where all his workers can see and hear all that's going on because soon they'll tell a friend who would tell a friend and before you know what's happening, it's all over the internet. He definitely didn't want that because he's told me a million times and his dad had told me ten million times. “You'll tell my husband that I want to see him right now. Since he has no shame to be doing whatever he's doing in there.” I snapped at the guy that was standing in front of my face, trying to block me from going on. “And I'm going in there, no matter how it takes. I'll either go around you or go through you, and you'll be very surprised at how strong I am, darling.” I palmed his cheek, giving him a smile I hoped was scary enough. I was a pretty strong woman, but this man was double my height and over double my size. He looked like a giant, and I knew that trying to shove past him would not even make a dent, so I wasn't willing to try. “I'm sorry ma'am. I understand you're hurt, but even I can't go in there. I have strict orders —” “I don't give a fuck about any orders. I either go in to see my husband or hr comes out to see me. Either way, I must see him before I leave.” “I—” Silence fell as we saw the handle of the door turned. “What's this ruckus all about?” Gerald asked as he opened the door and stepped out. I looked through the crack before the door shut and saw a smiling brunette woman straightening out her dress. What the hell had they been doing in there? “Why are you disturbing the peace, Calista?” He stepped towards me, looking at me with a disgusted expression. “I'm disturbing the peace?” I scoffed, shaking my head as I took a step back so that I could look properly at him. “You disgust me, Gerald. I can't believe you'd do this.” “Do what?” He looked at me like I was a clown. “Yeah, I really like how you think I'm stupid. Like I didn't see how that girl in there was adjusting her dress and how your tie is askew.” I flicked the little piece of clothing, before he grabbed it and adjusted it. “I'm so ashamed of you, Gerald. I didn't think you'd stoop this low to take a whore.” “Stoop low? Calista I don't know if you've forgotten this, but we're not actually married. It's a contract. Try to keep that in your head.” I looked around frantically, scared that someone might have heard, but I guess the men had taken the hint and left a while ago, because there was no one here and I hadn't known when they left. I nodded, my heart breaking as I took steps back. “Okay. I'm sorry for caring. Here's your lunch.” I dropped the pack on the floor and turned to leave. “And she's not a whore.” He said behind me. I paused for a second and let that sink in before I left the office, promising myself to never return. I sat in my car for a minute, tears rolling down my face as I tried to get myself comfortable with the fact that he had a girlfriend that be wasn't guilty to hang out with in front of me. He didn't even feel any sort of way doing things other than hanging out. I started the car and drove home, preparing my mind for what's to come next. We had a week left for our contract to be over and he was doing this. That was more than enough to tell me that he wouldn't want to continue this marriage. At least not with me. **** Two days later, I came back home from getting groceries and saw the same woman that was with him in the office sitting on my couch and making herself comfortable while eating my mint chocolate icecream and watching my movie. “Hello there. Are you lost?” I asked all but nicely. “Oh, hello.” She turned around with so much comfort and pride like she was the owner of this house. “No, I'm not lost. I actually stayed here before you came in. All the decorations I picked are still what's here.” She looked around at the paintings on the walls and the little carvings on the table. “I'd think you would have changed it by now. I guess you're not as close to him as I was though.” I just stood there frozen in shock at this woman in front of me. “Oh, how rude of me.” She gasped placing a hand on her chest before stretching the other out towards me. “Ophelia Magnus. Nice to meet you.” “Calista.” I muttered shaking her quickly and running off. I wanted to stay and confront her and also asked her what she was doing with my husband, but the things she had said got me a little curious. She had been with him before I was here. She was his girlfriend once before. I mean that had to be it if she could possibly have influenced the decorations in this house. That brought back what someone at the office had said. “She's his first love.” I initially thought it was me he was talking about, but now, I'm thinking otherwise. I pulled out my phone and searched up her name — Ophelia Magnus — and instantly, pictures of she and Gerald flooded my screen. Wow. Looking at this picture, I realized Gerald truly never felt this way for me. He was in a bunch of loving and romantic positions with Ophelia laughing, holding hands, even in grocery stores together. “I guess nothing was special to just me.” I muttered as I turned the phone off and stared at the ceiling.Gerald’s POVWeeks passed, and I’d be lying to myself if I said I didn’t expect to receive a message from Calista. A message of any form. But no.No calls. No texts. No fucking letters. Nothing. It was like she ceased to exist, and I knew better than to ask her mother, especially when I wanted to keep her safe from Ophelia.I suppose she decided to completely disappear from my life to save herself the embarrassment and get the hell out of her.Anyone in her shoes would’ve done the same thing after I literally threw the divorce papers in her face, which was equally a slap to her face. But like I said before… she was safe. I could get through this after all. Besides, if we were still together our marriage would’ve come to an end by now.Three years together, and we had nothing to show for it. Absolutely nothing.I shoved the thought to the back of my mind as I made myself a glass of orange juice. It was the weekend, which meant I could rest a bit—though I could still rest within the wee
Gerald’s POVShe actually left. She didn’t even put up a fight, didn’t even say anything. She just signed the fucking papers, packed up her stuff, and fucking left.I ran my hand through my hair, frustrated before throwing the papers across the room, causing some of the pages to fly in different directions. While Ophelia just stood by the door, watching me, like the conniving little bitch that she was.Not being able to handle being in the same space and breathing the same air that she was, I pushed past her, slamming my shoulder into her, only to stop dead in my tracks when I heard her speak.“You’re lucky you listened to me.” She bit out. “Unless you know what would’ve happened.”My blood boiled as rage clawed at my insides at the sound of words. It took me everything I had not to turn around and hit her just so I could see her bleed, but I had to control my temper. I just had to. “You made a big mistake coming back to my life, Ophelia.” My voice remained deceptively calm, though I
Calista’s POVThe next few days had been unbearable for me. I got to see Ophelia often here at our house, and even days when she didn’t drop by, I knew Gerald had gone out to see her.I refused to think about where I had gone wrong, these past three years. I refused to think about if maybe, I had known about Ophelia, I would’ve cast aside all my emotions and maybe this wouldn’t bother me this much.I refused to think about anything that would make this revelation feel heavier than it was, and I promised myself that I’d go on with my life just as if nothing had happened. We were already reaching the end of our contract, so it was stupid of me to be making a fuss about this.I arranged the breakfast on the tray, watching the steam rise from the hot cup of coffee before I let out a low breath. “If only thing’s were different…” I found myself muttering. “If and only if…”Leaving the food on the counter, I climbed up the stairs reluctantly—the only thing pushing me to do this being the urg

Calista's POVToday was just like every other day for me. I woke up early, cleaned the house, did the dishes, and now, I was making breakfast so that it'd be ready for when Gerald woke up.I knew I couldn't wake him, so I just guessed what he would like to have, and that ended as bacon, toast and eggs and maybe a cup of coffee.I was about to go brew some coffee when a set of footsteps coming down the stairs drew my attention. I knew it was Gerald because obviously we're the only two living in this massive house, but usually he sleeps in so it was pretty surprising seeing him awake by this time.“Gerald? Is everything okay? You're up pretty early.” I forced a chuckle. “That's good.”He just brushed past me like I was invisible, opened the fridge, grabbed a bottle of water and slammed it back shut before turning to go back upstairs, not bothering to say a single word to me.I didn't even know when I muttered to myself. “Well, what did I expect?” But truly, what did I expect? We were in
