Alpha Lucas paced back and forth, his fists clenched at his sides, his rage radiating off him in waves. He was reeling from a strong mixture of anxiety and rage after learning of his mate had took the boy and run away. It had struck him like silver to his skin.

"How could she do this to fucking me?!" he growled, his voice low and dangerous. "How could she taken the boy and vanish without a trace?"

Alpha Lucas's facade of indifference crumbled as he sank into the depths of his own thoughts.

"She means nothing to me," he declared to no one in particular, his voice cold and detached. "I have plenty of women who are more than willing to fulfill my desires."

But even as the words left his lips, a pang of longing tugged at his heart. He missed Sage, more than he cared to admit, and the emptiness left in her absence gnawed at him from the inside out.

He hated the special bond between mates. Now he was having a difficult time getting her off his mind.
