Chapter 5

A few hours later, I found myself drowning my sorrows in the last bottle of wine in the cabinets. Make that bottle number three for the night and call me done. How could I have been so ignorant through all these years. I’ve loved him for so long that I never truly looked at the man behind the dream.

A knock on the door brought me out of my reverie. Looking at the clock, I noticed it was close to 3 am. Who could be stopping by at this time. Thinking it was probably Dustin coming to apologize for how he acted, I ran/stumbled to the door in my drunken haze and threw the door open. To my shock it was actually the police.

“Ma’am are you Tara Stevens?” asked the officer.

“Yes, sir” I replied, noticing a slur to my speech I tried to sober up.

“Ma’am, I am going to need you to come downstairs. There has been a disturbance in your store that we need you to see.” the officer replied.

“Wait, what kind of disturbance. My store is closed.’” hic
