Haden

The Valley opened beneath us like a scar we kept digging. The Den was the same as when we’d left, rails rusting above it, smoke curling from chimneys, wolves on the ridge to greet their Alpha back.

We hadn’t even stopped before the pups came running. Bare feet slapping against stone, squeals loud enough to echo. Little hands grabbed at my pants, tugging, climbing, their voices spilling over each other.

“Alpha’s back!”

“Did you fight lions?”

“Did you kill any?"

“Did you bring us something?”

I dropped to a knee, let them crowd me, their tiny bodies warm, their eyes bright. My wolf rumbled soft under my skin, steadying, protective. Whatever else I’d failed, the pups still looked at me like I was unbreakable.

Behind me, Curt was already swarmed, lifting one over his shoulder until the kid shrieked with laughter. Keiral muttered at two who clung to her leg, “I’m not a climbing frame,” even as she carried them both. Adrian stood tall, letting one balance on his arm like he w

  • How to Catch a Mate   Chapter 84

Ashyln Mira was still out cold when I carried her into the side chamber. I laid her on the cot, her hair spilling across the pillow, chest rising fast and uneven. Her wolf pressed so close to the surface I could almost see it, amber bleeding through her eyelids, claws twitching at her fingertips even in sleep. Sheetal paced inside me, restless. She’s slipping again. If we don’t handle it now, the wolf will finish what it started. I clenched my fists. “Then we handle it.” I stripped down, dropped to the floor, and let Sheetal tear through. My bones cracked, skin ripping as fur pushed through. The shift dragged me to my knees, then forward onto claws. The Honshu filled the chamber — massive, black, eyes burning orange. My wolf’s breath steamed in the cold air, her claws gouging the stone. Mira stirred. Her body jerked once, then again, and then her wolf burst out of her skin with a guttural snarl. The chamber shook with it. Amber eyes flared, her body morphing fast, fur bursting

Ashlyn Morning in the Den was restless. The air felt thick and stuffy as the wolves moved through the halls, everyone whispering about the murder Haden had gone to handle in Panther City. My muscles ached from the night run, but Sheetal prowled inside me, sharp and restless. That’s when I saw her.Mira.She was pacing near the sparring ring, her eyes burning too bright, claws slipping through her skin before she forced them back. Her leg — the one everyone called a miracle carried her too smoothly, too perfectly.Because it wasn’t a miracle. It was her wolf. Something about the wolf rubbed me the wrong way.Her wolf had healed it when she was too weak to do it herself. And instead of giving control back, it had stayed close. Too close.'She’s slipping,' Sheetal hissed. 'Her wolf isn’t letting go. That leg isn’t hers,' It’s the wolf’s. 'I know. And if we don’t subdue her, she’s going to lose herself completely.'I clenched my jaw. The Alpha had let it slide, called it survival. But

Ashlyn By the time Chase and I staggered back into the Den, the sun had already burned high enough to sting my eyes. My body was raw, muscles aching, claws cracked from the run, but the ache inside hadn’t dulled. Not one bit.Haden was waiting. He stood by the main hall doors with two Sentinels at his back, their uniforms sharp, their expressions grim. His arms folded tight across his chest, his jaw cut sharp enough to draw blood. The moment I saw him, I knew something was wrong.“Another death,” he said flatly, not wasting a breath on greetings. “We need to have a call with Gordon, then pack a bag. We’re heading back to Panther City for a couple of days.”I stopped dead. My wolf bristled. The words didn’t hit like orders; they hit like a chain. And then he looked at me.“I’m going to leave you in charge.”I blinked, the words cracking through my chest. “Wait. What?”He didn’t flinch. His eyes didn’t soften. “You’ll hold here. I’ll take the Sentinels and handle Panther City.”My stom

Ashlyn The shower scalded, steam filling the small Den bathroom until I could barely see my own reflection. I stood there longer than I needed to, scrubbing my skin raw, as if hot water could peel away the memories burned into me.It didn’t.Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Krav. His mouth pressed hard against mine, the way his hand had locked at my jaw, the way his chest had trembled when he told me he wanted me but couldn’t forgive me. And then him leaving, his heat ripped away like he’d never been there. The ache stayed sharp, deeper than skin, deeper than muscle. It was in my ribs, in my blood, dragging through every breath.By the time I stepped out, hair dripping down my back, Chase was waiting. He shouldn’t have been. His skin was pale, his chest still tight from the wound, the bandages stained, but he stood anyway. His wolf pushed restless against his skin, eyes bright, stubborn.“You ready?” he asked. His voice came out rough, but steady.I nodded too fast. “Yeah.”The tru

KravThe stench of the tunnels always found a way into my throat.Rot, oil, damp stone. Rat work. Panthers liked to claim they had control of these underground veins, but truth was, once you let rodents dig, they never stopped. The walls smelled with mildew, the pipes hummed low, and tonight there was a gap where there shouldn’t be one.Cordone crouched near it, his hands brushing the jagged edge of stone. “This isn’t a collapse,” he muttered, voice low. “Something pulled this open. From the outside. My guess it was the rodents.”I narrowed my eyes. The breach wasn’t big, no more than three feet across, but it was enough. Enough to slip something in. Or out. The stone was split clean, not worn. Deliberate. This was the much needed reprieve I was thinking about getting when I found out Ashlyn was leaving. Ellan stood with his arms folded, gaze steady on the crack. He wasn’t rattled. Ellan never was. His height gave him presence, broad shoulders stretched under his dark jacket. His ski

Haden 11 years ago Things that great don’t always last. I should’ve known better, but at eighteen I thought I was untouchable. I thought Ashlyn and I could burn through anything. Her eighteenth birthday proved me wrong. We were stupid and young, still learning where the edges of our bodies ended and our wolves began. That night, we didn’t stop. Clothes came off, kisses bruised, and for the first time I had her completely. My hands, my mouth, my everything. And she gave me hers.Ashlyn burned hotter than anyone. She didn’t hold back, didn’t pretend. She looked at me like I was hers, freckles dark against her flushed skin, hair spread across the sheets, orange flicker in her wolf eyes while she arched under me.It wasn’t just sex. It was a promise. We stayed tangled until dawn, her breath warm on my chest, her nails leaving marks across my back. My wolf was quiet for once, sated, steady, curled against hers like it had found home. And for a moment, I believed we’d last. why would we
