Chapter 94

|| CLARA'S POV ||

The corridor seemed longer than ever before. My feet were moving fast but the door to Mikhail's room seemed an eternity away. My heart was racing—not from the murder but from terror. I'd just seen Sabrina's dead body. Her eyes—glassy, her face frozen in the final moment of terror—seared themselves into my mind. I couldn't believe it. I didn't want to believe it. But on some deeper level, I knew.

Mikhail was somehow responsible for it.

I burst into his room, barely hearing the gasp of the maid as she tried to gesture to me to leave.Mikhail faced me, his fingers wrapped around the edge of the gun so tightly that the veins stood out in his forearm like they were going to burst. His other hand was fisted around his waist and trembling. I could smell the fury on him.

"Mikhail," I exclaimed, gasping and shaking. "Where is Sabrina? What. what has happened to her?"

He slowly turned back, and I immediately regretted it.

His eyes bloodshot, pupils dilated, the rage

    Chapter 98|| Elinda's POV ||I didn't move. The earth was chilly on my knees, and the scent of blood lingered in the air—his blood. My mark pulsed against his flesh. Our mark. I did it. I saved him… but ruined everything.I gazed at Alexis, breathing raggedly, heart thudding so hard it silenced the world. His flesh seemed to glow softly where I had bitten through, a shining crescent on his neckline, throbbing with old power. Why couldn't I breathe?Alexis stood before me, chest heaving, shirt torn and bloodied. His eyes glowed with a hundred emotions—shock, confusion, relief… and something terrifyingly tender. His hand reached for me, fingertips trembling like he wasn’t sure if I’d vanish if he touched me.“Elinda…” His voice cracked like it hadn't been used for a long time . “You marked me.”I flinched. “Don’t.”His hand froze midair."I didn't mean—" I gulped, dry mouth. "We can't talk about it. Not ever. Not now.""But—" "No." I stood, fighting to hide the shaky feel of my legs.

    Chapter 97|| ELINDA'S POV ||MOMENTS AGO, My heart thudded so wildly that I feared it would burst right out of my ribcage. The darkness pressed in on me from all directions, only interrupted by one lantern swaying gently back and forth on a rusty hook far overhead. And then—I heard them."Princess!""Elinda, help us!""Please—he's going to kill us!"My breath halted as I spun around towards the sound. The young wolves. They were all there—huddled into a bound iron cage, their little hands and paws grasping the bars, their eyes terrified. Their fur was matted, some of them injured, all of them trembling."I'm here," I breathed, my voice threatening to shatter. "I'm going to get you out. I promise it."But before I could take another step, I heard the noise I feared the most.Liam's familiar, slow steps behind me.I didn't turn."You're right on time," he said to me with a smirk, his voice smooth over shattered glass.I prepared myself to turn to him.He grinned smugly—completely at eas

  • Hunted By My Rejected Mate   chapter 96

    Chapter 96|| Elinda's POV ||I searched until my legs gave out.The ground beneath me had turned to mud, the scent of crushed pine hitting my nostrils.Alaric stirred beside me, his shirt torn and boots dirty, yet his face not once showed a glimmer of defeat. We searched every inch of road, the forests lining the ridge, even questioned traders and lone scouts who might've seen a convoy.Nothing.No scratch on the trees. No struggle signs. It was as though the young wolves had vanished into thin air."They're gone," Alaric snarled, bracing his hand on a tree and breathing heavily.I wouldn't take it. I just kept walking forward, blinded by guilt. I was the one who made the decision to send them to training. I trusted the wrong pack. I led them to their deaths."No," I muttered, glancing around at the empty woods. "They're not. We're just not looking hard enough.""Elinda," he said, reaching for my arm, "we've been looking for hours. This was a trap. Whoever took them knew what they were

    Chapter 95|| ELINDA'S POV ||The sun had barely risen when I stood at the head of the table, my fingers resting on an etched symbol of the Dark Crescent Mauranders. The crest of the pack I now served not only as royalty—but as their new Beta.It still felt surreal. The role of Beta wasn't a role; it was trust, responsibility. One that I couldn't betray.Seated at the table were some of the most significant members of the pack's council—warriors, and former Alphas who had served with our grandfather. They gazed at me, their eyes admiring, others doubting. I did not blame them. I was young, a runaway princess turned reluctant leader. But I was done proving myself. I had made up my mind. And I would follow it through to its end."Let's get started," I said, sitting up straight.Darius, the head of training, cleared his throat. “We’ve received alarming reports from the northern outpost. Our younger wolves—those between sixteen to twenty—aren’t battle-ready. They lack control during trans

  • Hunted By My Rejected Mate   chapter 93

    Chapter 93|| ALBERTO'S POV ||I hate to leave plans for Alexis, but I must say—when it comes to starting chaos, he's a master at it. Tonight, he mapped out every guard patrol, every blind spot in the mansion, every alternate escape route. Dressed in the uniform of one of Mikhail's personal enforcers, I passed through the iron gates with a forged ID chip Alexis's crew hastily created. My heart pounded in my ears as the scanner gave me the all-clear to enter. The moment I crossed the threshold into the mansion, the scent enveloped me. Her scent. Clara. My wolf growled within me, restless. I clenched my fists hard to keep from shaking.Concentrate.The corridors smelt rich and cold, with black polished marble casting golden dancing chandeliers above. I kept my head down, mimicking the guard walk I had picked up from spy videos. Sweeping past two guards standing by a staircase, talking, I nodded to them quietly. They barely glanced at me.Clara was in the east wing. Alexis had overheard

  • Hunted By My Rejected Mate   chapter 92

    Chapter 92|| Clara's POV || (Three Years Ago)My chest thudded as I approached the healer's little hut. I walked closer, feeling vulnerable yet oddly reassured by the emptiness around me.The groan of the wooden door creaking open slowly, and there in the peaceful, knowing eyes of the healer, an old woman whose peaceful presence always had the power to calm my restless soul. She nodded in acknowledgment, stepping aside to let me in."Come in, Clara," she whispered, guiding me into a chair beside the fire. I sat down in the worn seat, letting out a deep, trembling breath. The healer studied me deeply, her understanding eyes easing with compassion. "Have you made up your mind yet, dear? Alberto is suffering, and so are you. Your wolf weakens daily."I swallowed hard, wincing back tears that pricked at the corners of my eyes. "I don't know what to do," I admitted softly, my voice cracking. "I'm afraid of Mikhail's anger more than anything. He is a revengeful man. He won't think twice abo

    Chapter 91|| Elinda's POV ||I had barely emerged from the car when the chaos descended on me like a wave.Cameras snapped one after another in my face, and microphones were shoved under my nose in every direction. A group of reporters hovered around me.Their faces were tough and full of judgmental :"Elinda! You actually did run away from the ceremony of finding a mate!""Are you with anyone special last night?""Is your engagement to Duke Alaric cancelled now?"I couldn't answer. I couldn't breathe. They weren't just shoving—they were standing on me, yanking at my sleeves, blocking every move I made towards the palace. A woman's heel ground into my ankle. A man jammed a mic into my shoulder so forcefully I almost stumbled. Panic coursed up my throat."Get back!" Alaric's voice came behind me, deep but not nearly loud enough to overpower the crowd. "You're hurting her! Move aside!"His hand gripped mine tightly, but it was not strong to save me. He seemed more like a noble trying to

  • Hunted By My Rejected Mate   chapter 90

    Chapter 90|| ELINDA's POV ||I awoke curled around Alexis's chest, feeling the gradual beat of his breath against my hand. His skin was warm now. Not fever-burning like last night. Just warm. Alive. I didn't want to move, but the sun that sliced through the blinds brought memory. There was a gentle knock at the door, and then servant's whisper. "My Lady… the healer has arrived."I glanced at Alexis, who remained asleep. His eyelashes fluttered slightly, and I knew he would come awake soon. I moved off the bed, gently tucking the blankets back around him, and opened the door far enough to see."I'll speak with him alone first," I breathed. The servant nodded and disappeared down the hallway. A minute later, the healer—a soft-faced middle-aged man with grey hair and a scent of rosemary—stepped silently in. I guided him into the next room so Alexis wouldn't hear us."He's better, isn't he?" I asked as soon as we'd closed the door behind us.The healer smiled half-heartedly. "Yes… and no
