The next morning as I stood preparing breakfast there was a knock at the door, I instantly felt a lump in my throat as I gasped, I stared at the door as I clenched my jaw but I didn’t make any advances toward going to open it. Groban wasn’t here and he definitely wouldn’t be knocking anyways.

Groban was lying on the kitchen floor where he collapsed shortly after both ward and I had basically helped to carry him from the front door, my eyes had scanned outside briefly across the snow and there was blood splotches in a path in the white soft snow as he had stammered toward safety. Ward had him on his back as he ripped at his shirt to see the extent of the damage, and I felt helpless in that moment as I gasped at the sight of all the blood the moment I saw his chest. Groban POV When I came too I expected to see Lay right beside me, but she wasn’t.
