  ~ Harper's POV~

My eyes shot open, and I jerked straight up. Fear gripped me as memories of last night slowly trickled back into my mind. I screamed as it felt like my soul was leaving my body. It was so long and hard with a force that made my lungs burn. I didn’t care to control the tears streaming down my face as my wailing continued to fill the dark space around me. Images flashed through my mind. My mother, my father, both gone. My cries pleading for mercy fell on deaf ears and hardened hearts.

The sad eyes of my parents staring at me seared into my mind. The hollow feeling where my heart once beat was a constant reminder of how alone I am. There are no words to describe the man responsible for my heartache. He took my life from me in the most gruesome and sadistic way imaginable.  A cold chill rolled over my bare chest and arms causing goosebumps to rise all over my body. I lifted my hands to wipe my eyes. The light of the moon was shining through a window too small for me to fit through. I’m in what looked like a prison cell. The shine of the moon light reflected off the thick metal bars to my left. The walls were gray, built from concrete or blocks. Cracks lined the walls, spreading in all different directions. A dank smell that reminded me of mildew made the air thick and stuffy. All I could hear was water dripping, causing a constant echo over and over. Where am I?

The pain of the brutal happenings from last night reminded me of why I was here. I lifted my legs to sit up from my position. I slid my feet off what looked like a cot style bed, hard with no covers. Cold and heavy clinking sounded throughout the room, a harsh realization that I had shackles on my ankles. I felt a burn on my bottom lip. I licked it realizing it had a cut. Most likely that was from Alpha Thane striking my face when I refused to be his mate. Looking at my hands they were dirty. My clothes were torn to the point of almost falling off my body.

I cried for what seemed like hours on end. Now my emotions were numb, I was unable to feel anything. A loud squeaking sound as if a metal door was opening caught my attention. It was the first sign I had not been completely alone here. I lifted my head to look toward the footsteps headed my way. A lady who looked to be a servant smiled gently at me and slid a tray of food through an opening I could only assume was used for that purpose. She turned to walk away.

“WAIT!” I yelled. The lady stopped walking and turned to look at me. “What is going to happen to me?” The lady had sadness in her eyes.

“Alpha will see you shortly” then she turned and continued toward the exit. The metal door squeaked once more and latched closed. I thought about eating but my appetite wasn’t there. How could I eat right now? Maybe I can starve myself. Death is a welcome thought for me, as I can’t imagine my life being happy ever again. Hours passed by.

I am assuming it was the next morning as the sun peeked through the window. I was awake staring at the ceiling when I heard muffled talking. I recognized the squeak from the metal door. Realizing someone was coming my way caused me to shiver. I knew this was a man, his steps were much louder than the lady who was in here last. It must be him. Deciding I was not going to cower to this monster I stood up straight and prepared to meet my capture head on. Anger rose in my chest as his voice got louder.

Finally, three men appeared before me. Two guards, and him. The first thing I always see when I am staring at the devil himself is his eyes. They were menacing deep and dark red eyes. Pure evil radiated from this man. He was tall, around 6’1. Light brown hair that was not long and not too short. It was styled messy on top. Over his right eye a scar was slid diagonal over his face. His body was built like an Alpha should be. Strong and chiseled with arms that threatened to tear his tight fitted tee shirt that was tucked into his blue jean pants. If he were anyone else, I would find him attractive. He stood tall with ruthless authority. This man ruled with fear. I wasn’t going to give him the pleasure of seeing me scared of him. I didn’t take my eyes off him, if looks could kill he would be dead right now. I straightened my shoulders and stood as tall as I could.

“Harper, you look beautiful as ever. The look of captivity suits you.”

His voice is low and seductive. He made me sick.

“What do you want with me, Alpha Thane?”

I spat the words out. His menacing smile curled over his white teeth. It is a terrible thing, how such a handsome man can be the devil reincarnated.

“It is no secret; I want you as my mate.”

“WHY ME… WHY DID YOU PICK ME?” I raised my voice and yelled at him. Tears swelled in my eyes, but I refused to let them fall in front of him. “Why couldn’t you pick someone as cruel as you?”

Alpha Thane stepped to the side instructing one of the guards to unlock my cell door. More clinking sounds echoed off the walls as the cell door slid open. Alpha Thane walked in, stopping in front of me.

I could feel his breath on my forehead. My body wanted to move away from him, but I forced myself to stand as tall and as confident as I possibly could. He was much taller than me. I was only 5’3 in height. I looked up at him. Our eyes locked. A low growl rumbled deep in his chest as he brought his mouth closer to my ear. His breath hot on my neck, caused my body to shiver. With a soft seductive voice, he answered my question

“I want you because you're good.” I took advantage of his proximity to me and slapped him across the face. It didn’t faze him. With a look of pure excitement his eyes fell dark and a nasty smirk curled over his teeth. “You’re going to be fun.” He rolled his fingers softly over my abdomen as he turned to exit the cell. He turned and looked at me once more. “Your 18th birthday is only a few moons away. I will make you my mate that night, and I look forward to claiming all of you.” He turned to the guards, “take her to her room and lock her in. make sure she is able to shower and eat well.”

CHAPTER 76: BABY LYCAN ~ Selene (Moon Goddess) ~ “Well Selene, it looks like you found a way to interfere without actually being there, didn’t you?” “I told you, don’t tell me I can’t help my children. Did you want to be bothered with Hades? Neither did I.” I said back to him. “You're lucky we grew close to the girl from birth. I wouldn’t let this pass for just anyone. Their powers would have come eventually without your interference.” He said back to me. “Yeah, then we would have all been down there fighting to send Hades back to hell! All you want to do is sit on that throne and watch everything like it’s a soap opera. Loosen up, will you! We are going to see the first baby Lycan being born, and I can’t WAIT!” He rubbed his face like he was exhausted because of me, but I saw his grin. He didn’t want to admit it, but he would have interfered if I hadn't. ~ Harper’s POV ~ We finally made it back to the packhouse. The battle lasted overnight, and the sun wa

  • I Am Not Your Victim   Let This Be An Example

CHAPTER 75: LET THIS BE AN EXAMPLE~Tanner’s POV~Holy shit balls! Gabriel is glowing bright white! I looked over to Kai and he was just as shocked as I was. I watched as a ball of lightning and wind moved around him rapidly. Even his eyes were bright white. He began to pound on the barrier again. I’m sure Thane is about to get his ass handed to him. I watched Gabe. “I *POUND* SAID *POUND* DON’T *POUND* TOUCH HER! * BOOM! *” The barrier dissolved around Thane and his warlock. “HELL, YEAH GABE!” Dragons roared overhead and allies all around us erupted in cheers. Thane’s eyes were that of shock, disbelief, and anger. He shifted back into his beast and met Gabe before he could make it to Harper. “SET HADES FREE!” Thane shouted to his warlock. “But sir. The mark?” “DO IT NOW!” Thane growled out to the warlock. He took his attention off Harper and started moving his hands in ways that only magical beings do. This time it was black smoke that started rising up fr

  • I Am Not Your Victim   Gabriel Get Up

CHAPTER 74: GABRIEL GET UP~ Harper’s POV ~I couldn’t get to Gabriel because I was helping all the warriors that were overtaken by Thane’s army. We were caught off guard. Somehow Thane caught our informant. I ran through flaming bodies trying to tackle and kill every enemy in my sight. I moved to rip the neck out of a wolf that had one of our warriors pinned down. I helped up my warrior and moved to the next. I kept glancing toward Gabriel. He was holding his own and giving Thane hell. I was caught off guard by an unshifted enemy warrior coming at me with a dagger. I was able to shift out of the way of his blade, but barely. I jumped back putting some distance between myself and the man with the dagger. I heard a loud growl, I blinked, and Thane landed in front of me grabbing the warrior up by the throat. “WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT NOT HURTING HER! YOU INCOMPATENT AND WORTHLESS PIECE OF SHIT!” Thane’s movements were fast. He stood the warrior up and sliced his head off in one swift m

  • I Am Not Your Victim   They Knew

CHAPTER 73: THEY KNEW WE WERE COMING~ Selene (The Moon Goddess) ~ “DON’T TELL ME THAT I CAN’T BE INVOLVED WHEN MY CHILDREN ARE GOING UP AGAINST HADES!” I yelled out. These deities think we should never get involved. Usually I feel the same way, but my children can’t fight Hades! “It’s not a good idea Selene. We don’t want to disrupt the balance.” I screamed to the top of my lungs. “AHHH… What balance? If Hades is released, and his purpose is to take over, then what balance will there be left?” I asked. “Selene, you will not get involved! THAT IS FINAL!” I am thoroughly pissed right now. “Sometimes, I feel like there’s no use in even being a deity if I can’t help my children when they need it most.” When it comes to our creations, we know the direction of their lives are supposed to go. When deities get involved, outcomes get shuffled, and destinies get changed. I hope Harper and Gabriel can handle things down there. Hmmm... If I can't be there in person, ma

  • I Am Not Your Victim   Satisfy My Beast

CHAPTER 72: SATISFY MY BEAST~ Harper’s POV ~I didn’t take my time with my morning routine. I walked back out into Gabriel’s bedroom and noticed he was gone. Good, I’ll be able to pick out a cute lingerie set. Hmmm… what color? Oh, these are cute. It was a pretty red lace bra and pantie set. I really love this one. I quickly put them on and got dressed in a pair of shorts and one of my tee shirts. I tied a knot in the bottom of my tee-shirt, which made it tighter and pulled up just a little to show some of my midriff. I blow dried my hair and applied a small amount of makeup. I guess I am trying a little harder today. I want to look good for Gabriel. I ruined my look yesterday with all my tears. After finishing my makeup. I looked in the mirror, this will do. I walk back into Gabriel’s room and walk to his window to look out. It looks like it’s going to be a beautiful day. I heard Gabriel’s door open and turned to see a steaming hot man fresh from the training field standing before m

  • I Am Not Your Victim   Beta or Not, I'll Kill You

CHAPTER 71: BETA OR NOT, I’LL KILL YOU~Harper’s POV~I was in the dining hall when I heard the loud hum from Gabriel’s truck driving up and entering the garage. My heart rate accelerated, and Mia was purring in my head. I thought I was ready to talk to Gabriel, but I just realized that I’m not. I started sweating, and I felt like running to my room to avoid him. He is okay, that is all I wanted to know. I turned to walk up the stairs when I heard the front packhouse door open. I froze in place, not turning to look behind me. His scent of cedar and pine was begging me to run to him, but I refused. I am not going to throw myself at a man who has been kissing another WOMAN! My anger returned and felt new at that moment. I heard Kai talking with pack members who were welcoming him home. Tanner must have entered the dining hall to welcome them home. “Kai, it’s good to see you, man. Looks like you didn’t die.” I heard Tanner say to Kai. “Yeah, well… I can say I almost did a few t
