Chapter 39

_

Michael’s POV

The moment my phone rang, I already had a feeling it wasn’t good news. I was still sitting at that

café table with Laura’s boss, pretending to listen to whatever he was saying while my mind was

on Laura. But when the call came in and I saw the company line on my screen, my chest

tightened.

“Sir, you need to come immediately,

” my staff said the moment I answered.

“Madam Kayla is

here. She’s causing trouble.

That was all I needed to hear.

I didn’t even bother giving Daniel a proper goodbye. I stood up, walked out of the café, and

headed straight for the car. My hands were already tightening on the steering wheel before I

even reversed out of the parking space. I couldn’t understand her. After everything she did, after

draining me, after making me fight for every shred of my own property back, she still had the

Michael’s POVI didn’t even wait a second after leaving my office. Kayla’s file was still in my hands, her smirkburned into my memory, and my blood was boiling. I knew I needed help, real help, notsomeone pretending to be loyal like my staff. I knew who I could trust. Kael.I drove fast, my mind racing. My fingers tapped on the steering wheel. I went over every detail inmy head. Sexual harassment claim, 70/30 property split, the threat of a powerful lawyer.By the time I reached Kael’s place, my chest was tight, my mind spinning. I grabbed the file andknocked. He opened the door almost immediately. His face went from casual to sharp as soonas he saw me holding the papers.“Alpha?” His voice was calm, but there was an edge in it.“What’s wrong?”“I’ll show you,” I said, thrusting the file toward him.“Kayla. She’s… she’s insane.”Kael took the file carefully, his eyes scanning every page. I watched him closely, seeing hisexpression shift from curiosity to shock, then to rage.“

Daniel’s POVI was heading to Laura’s office when I saw Michael coming out of her door. The moment Irecognized him, something inside me snapped. I didn’t show it on my face, but the anger wasthere. I’d already sent his picture through my sister. She was the one who told me everything. The day he first came to our office, I caught the way Laura reacted. She wasn’t herself, and Iknew it had to be because of him. Something felt off, so I followed my instincts. I stepped out ofsight, took his picture quietly, and sent it to my sister. Not even two minutes passed before shecalled me back, shocked, ranting, telling me he was the husband who abandoned Laura and lefther to suffer alone.Ever since that phone call, just thinking about him annoyed me.And now here he was. Leaving her office. Like he had any right to be around her.He didn’t see me at first. He was walking with that tense look, the kind of look a man had whenhe didn’t get what he came for. Good. I hoped Laura didn’t give

Laura’s POVI didn’t expect to see Micheal in my office again. The last time he walked out, he did it with somuch anger that I thought he was done with me completely. He refused to tell me anythingabout the divorce, refused to answer a single question. I thought he has a rethink and he is notdivorcing Kayla again. So when he opened my door and stepped in like nothing happened, I felt a sharp jolt of surprise. Not excitement. Not fear. Just shocked that he actually came back.I kept my expression plain. He walked in slowly, and just stared at me. I stared back. Neutral and Unmoved. We exchanged greetings, formal and brief. I didn’t offer him anything. I didn’t smile. I just satback in my chair and waited for him to speak.I asked him if he was finally ready to tell me the reason for the divorce, because I wasn’t goingto entertain anything else. I didn’t have the patience for half-truths. If he wanted something fromme, he needed to start talking. He said yes. Then he sat down and

MICHEAL’S POVI left the council building with my head still buzzing from everything that happened inside. I didn’twait for anyone. I just got in my car and drove straight to the office because I needed a quietplace to think. The drive felt longer than usual, and by the time I parked, all I wanted was to sitalone for a few minutes and clear my head. I pushed through the entrance, nodding at theguards, and walked down the way toward my office. The moment I opened the door, I stopped.Someone was sitting in front of my desk.I froze at the doorway, staring at him. I didn’t recognize the face. I didn’t sense anything familiar. He didn’t look like someone I had ever met, and he wasn’t wearing anything that hinted at whohe was or why he was there. No scent I knew. No energy I knew. Nothing. Just a man sittingwith his hands folded, watching me with a calm face.I didn’t move closer. I kept my hand on the doorknob and looked at him again, trying to figureout what this was supposed to

KAYLA’S POVMy phone rang. It was the legal office. I answered, sharp and quick. They confirmed theauthorizations for all the properties and accounts. Everything was in my name. I hung up andfelt a rush of relief. For the first time in a long while, I felt in control.I left immediately for the legal office. Every step was calculated, precise. I needed to make sureeverything was airtight before moving to the next stage. I walked into the office and went straightto the counter. The staff checked my authorizations, verified signatures, and confirmedtransfers. Step by step, I watched the process. When it was done, I leaned back and allowedmyself a small smile. Everything was moving exactly as I planned.Next stop, my lawyer. I knew he would understand the plan completely, and thankfully, he hadbeen my ally for years. His office was sleek and quiet when I arrived. I entered withouthesitation, sat down across from him, and got straight to business.“I want Micheal framed,” I said,
