Lyria's POV
Words failed to express my shock the moment the pack doctor handed me the test result. "Congratulations, Luna Lyria. You are six weeks pregnant,” the doctor said calmly, a faint smile on her face. As much as I wanted to doubt this happening, Doctor Liz is the most qualified doctor here in this pack. She was also the doctor who told me to give up trying after five failed IVS. “Doctor, how is this even possible?” “I don't know, but you can call it a miracle, Luna Lyria,” she replied sweetly. “All you need right now is rest, eat healthy food, and don't miss weekly checkup.” “I would,” I said loudly, unable to contain the joy and excitement bubbling inside me. I put the result into my bag before leaving the hospital, imagining how I was going to break the news to Alpha Dave. The driver started the car the moment I got in, my heart racing at each second that went by. Even though I was going to wait until midnight for Alpha Dave to be back home, I can't wait to arrange my pup's room… I snapped out of my thoughts the second the driver pulled over. Without hesitating, I hurried out of the car the moment I caught a glimpse of Alpha Dave's car.Talk about the perfect coincidence. Is my sister-in-law here again? I moved my gaze from the bag and heels on the table, preparing myself for her nags. Or maybe it was perfect that she was here. She would get to know I am not the barren woman she now addresses me as.“Yes… fuck… Alpha Dave…” My eyes blinked the moment I heard the sound coming from the bedroom. No, I must have misheard those words. This must be my hormones reacting…
The doubts I had shattered the moment I opened the door, coming face-to-face with my husband and my best friend. They didn't notice my presence. The both of them were so engrossed in the act, Alpha Dave buried inside of Selene, who was moaning loudly, her hands circled around his neck. “This is the reason why I wanted to move in… damn… this bed is just so fucking amazing…” her voice echoed. “I want you to fully become mine! I can't keep sharing you.” I stood there dumbfounded, trying to make sense out of that single statement. For goddess' sake, Ariana is a mother of two. She is married. She claimed her husband was… “I have always been yours just as you have always been mine." Alpha Dave's words were like a dagger, stabbing straight into my heart. “I would divorce her when the time is right. She is still useful, at least with the domestic work.” “What about our sons? Are we going to continue doing this? I am tired… five… five fucking years, Dave...” Even though the sound of their skin slapping against each other was loud, their conversation was so loud. Louder than even their moans. I felt my knees weaken, my body shivering like I was placed in a freezer. The handbag I held tightly fell off my grip, causing a loud thud on the ground. “Lyria—” “So this was all you have been doing behind my back, Alpha Dave? You have been cheating on me?” I interrupted Alpha Dave, who was staring at me with shock on his face. I tried to hold back the tears that welled up in my eyes, but it was too late. “Lyria, sooner or later you would find out about this. I think it is time you know this,” Alpha Dave’s voice echoed, sounding like he was talking to a five-year-old pup. Like what he did wasn't wrong. Not even an ounce of shame or guilt in his voice. “I love Ariana, and she is my fated mate—” “If she was, why then did you marry me? It's been five years, and this is all you have to say after doing this to me?” More tears ran down my face as I threw questions at him. “Lyria, please don't blame him. We were in love, but it was just that he had to marry you because you were the Alpha's daughter and had something to offer him,” Arian, who now had the duvet wrapped around her chest, defended him. “Come to think of it, you should be grateful he didn't push you out. He even saw a little bit of usefulness in you.” “You can't even give him a pup, not even a miscarriage, Lyria. If anything, you should even be grateful he allowed you to stay for this long. No man can, especially not for an omega like you,” she continued. Every word landed on me like a rock, breaking the whole of me into pieces. This was the same friend I have supported many times. On days Ariana would come crying to me about how her husband can't afford her sons' school fees. On days, she would ask for my expensive jewelries. Not once have I turned away. Without thinking twice, I walked up to Ariana and slapped her. Unable to sate the anger now burning through me, I raised my hand to slap her again, but Alpha Dave slapped me instead. My husband slapped me for Ariana! “How dare you slap her? If you weren't late Alpha Xavier’s daughter, I would never have chosen a female like you over my fated mate!” He barked at me, staring at me like I was some sinner. “So you—” Alpha Dave pushed me before I could complete my statement. I fell hard to the ground, my head landing directly on the glass table at the corner of the bed. Blood gushed out of my head and my thigh when I landed on the ground, my body too weak to move, my head hurting so bad, like my skull had cracked open. I moved a finger, hoping Alpha Dave would at least come for me. Help me up… “Dave, it is better she is gone. This way we wouldn't have to keep worrying about what the pack elders would think,” Ariana’s voice echoed. Even though my gaze was blurry, I could still see her facial expression. Even though life was slowly slipping out of me, every part of me was hoping Alpha Dave would look my way. Help me up and rush me to the hospital.I am his wife, for goddess's sake! “You are right. If only you were the Alpha's daughter, all of this mess wouldn't have happened," Alpha Dave's words made me want to scream, want to curse the twenty-year-old me who believed he was in love with me and that every other man would never come close. But all of that effort to move, to shout, made no impact. I felt life slowly drained out of my body, the environment getting darker as my mind went blank.I was dying… by the hand of the same man I had loved for five years!Dave's POV“When I said Alpha Azriel was the one behind all of this, poor Lyria said her husband was with her that night,” I paused, staring at the pack's elders who had confirmed the burndown. Now everything is finally falling in place. Too bad Lyria had to force me into doing this.Soon enough, after I get the news of Alpha Xavier's death, I will be the only one eligible to become the pack's Alpha. After all, Alpha Xavier has no son.“I thought she would have at least seen the vivid manipulation. Alpha Xavier almost died on her wedding night,” I paused, faking a tear. “If only she hadn't given in to Alpha Azriel’s deceit and agreed to marry me when as planned, an intruder wouldn't have caused us this much damage.”“Dave, this isn't the time for all this talk. Drop women's talks and let's move ahead. Our pack is weak and we need someone to rule us temporarily until Alpha Xavier wakes up,” Elder Thorne said, already convinced.I am glad I decided to let Lyria go instead of having her
Lyria's POV What in the moon goddess was that? Embarrassment washed over me when I remembered everything I did and how I threw myself at Alpha Azriel. I was clearly not drunk this time, but it just felt different. It was as if I was under some influence, my body going against my own wish. “Luna Lyria, you are awake,” Cassandra's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. “I told you to let the guards follow you, but you didn't agree. You almost die… what could have happened if Alpha Azriel or I wasn't there on time?” Before I could reply, Cassandra continued. “How did you even get there? Who did that to you?” I took in a deep breath, not sure if there was any need to tell her. My father is on the verge of dying, and the least I could do is bring another worry. My number one worry right now is to avoid meeting the same fate like I once did at Dave's hand and finding the one who tried to kill my father. “Cassandra, can you get the car ready? I am visiting the hospital to see how my fa
Dave's POV:“Wait, did you just say you set the house on fire with Lyria in there?” Ariana asked, staring at me like she doesn't know the length I could go.I have come too far to give up on this. The baby in her womb, my pup, would have to be the next Alpha. That was all I have been living for.Being the Gamma's son is something I never wanted! I didn't ask to be born as an Alpha son when I could be the Alpha's heir. The same fate is what I won't let my pup carry.“If her death would make me the next Alpha, why should I hesitate?” I asked, closing the gaps between us.I reached for Ariana's waist, holding her firmly, our body pressed against each other. “Lyria was adamant. She would rather have me whip her to death than marry her.”“But when did she have a change of mind? Everything was going smoothly, babe. Or did you in any way provoked her? She even knew about us—”I did not allow Ariana go on with what we are obviously over. Not when the doctor said she needed not to be stressed
Azriel's POV:For a moment I felt lost in this, my hand cupping her face, my wolf reacting in excitement.Aiel has never been this excited when he hasn’t gone into hibernation.“I… I…—”“You don't have to be sorry,” I interrupted her before she could complete her statement.I don't know why she kissed me, and I don't care whatever the reason was. I am not supposed to indulge her.We made the reason we got married clear! And I didn't drive all the way from my pack down to Bluemoon for a five-minute kiss! Definitely not from someone like Lyria. All through the ride, I made sure not to look at her even though I was hearing what sounded like moans and the strong scents from her pheromones pulling me in.It was hard, but I eventually did it.I pulled over in the garage of one of the most secretive hotels. It was the hotel I stayed in on my arrival to the wedding I never knew was going to be mine.I opened the car, then arranged the suit jacket to cover her chest properly. Why is her skin d
Lyria's POV“Since she decided not to change her mind, set the whole place on fire.”My fingers dug into the ground as I recalled the instruction Dave gave earlier. After being flogged mercilessly, my skin bruised and bleeding, I still didn't give in. Not when I knew what my life would be like with him. This second chance given to me – I would rather die than meet the same fate.My heart raced the moment I caught a glimpse of fire through the window, a part of me desperately wishing this isn't how I was going to die. This isn't where I die.I have a father at the verge of death. I have a responsibility as the pack's Luna. I have to look for the person who tried to kill my father. My eyes stung with tears as pain coursed through my body, my heart shattered at the reality I was now facing.Dave was never the man I loved. He had always been a monster who wanted nothing but to marry me, the Alpha's daughter. It only became clear now. After several times trying to crawl out of the building
AZRIEL POV“With the silver wolf you are going to be powerful. Everything you needed would be all yours, Prince Luca.”I halted, standing at the entrance of my brother's room. Since my Beta was out of pack as well, he was the next person in charge.“Look for her! No matter what it cost me, I would pay,” Luca instructed the man who bowed down before turning to leave. He quickly hurried out the moment his gaze met mine. Luca, who just noticed my presence, has his gaze fixed on me.“I heard you got married,” Luca said. “I thought you were going to stay with your wife there since you and your Beta abandoned everyone and the pack’s affair to just me.”“Luca, I didn't abandon the pack,” even though it was of no use explaining to someone who sees me as nothing but a rival, I continued. “We need Bluemoon Pack's money to get everything we needed to sustain this pack. Our strong Gammas and guards won't give us—”“That is all the reason for you to give up, brother!” He half-yelled, staring at me
Azriel's POV“Take care of him! It must not exceed tonight!” A familiar voice made me turn. “If it exceeds today, I will make both you and your family pay for it!”I smiled faintly when my gaze landed on Dave from the corner where I stood. Given what he did to Lyria earlier, I wanted to snap his ne
Lyria's POV:My heart raced hard, my body shivering as I prayed desperately. I don't want to face the same fate… I don't want to misuse this second chance given to me.I snapped out of my thoughts at the sound of a punch. When I turned around, Dave was already on the ground.“Wifey, you are suppose
Lyria's POV:“Lyria, what do you mean? You are joking, right?“ Dave was quick to ask, staring at me like I did something wrong. Before I could reply, my father was already standing in front of me. “Lyria, what is the meaning of all of this? You rejected Alpha Azriel just because you want to marry t
Lyria's POVI opened my eyes the moment I felt someone hit me on the leg. This must be it—is this heaven or hell?I sat up, my gaze scanning through the room, which looked so familiar. It wasn't my matrimonial bedroom where I was pushed, neither was this hospital.I remembered clearly how my husban
