Zara Langford

Then watch me do that.

The words resounded in my head after he said that.

What the hell!

Declan Voss was going to carry me…. in front of all these people? In front of the cameras?

Before I could argue, Declan Voss slid one arm under my knees and the other behind my back, lifting me like I was weighing nothing.

The crowd erupted. Cheers. Claps. Whistles. echoes here and there.

My ears chose the moment to grip the question a reporter threw my way.

How does it feel to be in the arms of the most handsome business prince?

Being made the center of attention has always been my favorite before now. But right now, I wish for the ground to open and swallow me up.

If my face were red… it would probably be redder than blood now.

Questions kept flying in… most of them directed at me.

I was in the arms of the most famous Business lord—the heartbeat of everyone. The one everyone wants but can't touch.

Natalie would definitely be screaming her lungs out if she watched the news.

I hid my face in Declan's chest… I can't stand the face of all these people. The sound of Declan's heartbeat was stable… too stable for this situation.

Mine was beating like du-du-nke. I could feel them in my throat.

The damn fucking stilettoes.

They were perfectly fine when I checked them last night. What could cause this? I feel it happened deliberately.

My eyes caught a glimpse of Declan's face and I quickly hid it right back on his chest.

Then, something hit me!

Natalie! The fuck!

How did I not notice? The damn bitch tampered with my heels.

I'm pretty sure she will be doing a lap of victory dance wherever she is.

I'll so kill that girl. I can't believe this!

Natalie is now the least of the problem, but mostly the cause.

Dad will surely come for my skeleton if he ever sees the news, which I know he will see immediately, before it even gets aired.

As much as I love getting under his skin… but not with Declan Voss.

But then, there is a saying that goes: The enemy of your enemy is your friend.

So, definitely, I need to draw Declan close. That's the plan— Keep him close.

But, how close?

And since I was slipping on a nose mask, my identity is still hidden. No one in the crowd would easily recognize me.

At least, not yet… In a matter of hours, the paparazzi would figure it out.

Screw it! If I perish… Then I perish.

I decided to add more spice to the show. I wrapped my arms around Declan's neck and like a slow-motion movie scene, I turned to the crowd.

The crowd went berserk.

“Oh my god!”

“She is really lucky…”

“Wish I could be her right now”

“Does this mean,Voss is off the market?”

Flashing sounds from the camera and phones resound to everyone. And the noise and cheering tripled.

The stairs of the private jet rolled down.

Declan took slow deliberate steps towards the staircase. He lifted his legs onto a staircase and then climbed another and then another.

The clicking sounds of cameras blocked my ears, and I wanted nothing more than to leave this chaotic environment.

Declan climbed the last staircase and he disappeared into the plane. He let go of his hands, and my body came in contact with the plane's floor.

Ouch! That hurts! I rubbed my butt while staring at his back till he took a seat near the window.

Oopsie! I guess the show is over.

I held a seat and stood up… limping to where my bags were already placed.

Jerk!

I took a seat and Pain shot through my body.

Oh fuck! My ass. I turned to the He-devil seat. He was leaning back against his seat with his eyes shut. He had headphones over his ears.

“Take your eyes off me” Declan said with his eyes still closed.

How did he know I was staring?

Tor! Freak!!

I turned back to my front. The adrenaline of what happened out there was still rushing through me.

Declan Voss carried me into the plan. I still found that shocking to believe.

I turned to him again. Just when I thought I could predict him. He is really unpredictable.

“Zara… Don't you ever again wear those kinds of stilettos anywhere near my company," he ordered.

Yes… an order, it didn't sound like a statement.

I rolled my eyes. I wear whatever I wanna wear dude. You don't get to decide for me on this. The more you keep getting irritated seeing me in them, the more I'll keep wearing them.

I folded my arms and stared out through the window. My phone buzzed then vibrated in my bag above.

I pulled down the bag. Bringing out my phone. I tossed the bag aside. Stared at the screen of my phone with horror.

101 missed calls from Natalie

250 text messages from Natalie

50 missed calls from Mum and 10 text messages from Dad.

Hold up!

All these calls and messages in a few minutes?

I texted Natalie back. Leaving Dad's messages unread. There is absolutely no way I'd be opening them.

Like she has been waiting for the text all day… Natalie's text came almost immediately.

Natalie: *Damn it, girl! You are fucking popular now! A celebrity*

I scoffed and my hand danced on my phone screen.

Me: *Popular? Nah… I can be anything but popular” I texted back.

Her reply came immediately.

Natalie: “Have you seen the damn news! Social media is on fire! Open your enstagram! Declan is Fucking trending with a mysterious stranger masked lady he carried”

Natalie: *Which you and I know you are the masked lady. Damn girl I wish to be you right now! You both looked so cozy together.

There she goes again.

Always saying the wrong words at the wrong time. How does Declan carrying me onto a plane make us look cozy together!

Me: Natalie Please stop saying the wrong words at the wrong time. How the hell am I lucky? And you caused this whole

Natalie: “Guilty as charged I would say no more. Open your damn apps Zara and you will get what I mean*

Me: ‘Okay… Make sure to price a casket the size of your body before I'm back’ I replied to her

With that no reply came from Natalie, I left my texting app and clicked on the enstagram social media icon.

The app opens. I refreshed my feeds page. And the first post I saw made me gasp.

My body stilled.

My phone fell out of my hands onto the plane's floor.

Declan Voss I gazed down at my wristwatch for the umpteenth time. I'm supposed to be at the airport now. Zara. Where the hell is she? She is gradually trying to keep a record as a latecomer. I paced to and fro in my office. I took the telephone from my office desk and made a call to my receptionist. “Have you seen, Zara?” “Yes sir, she is coming towards your office now… she should be there in 2… “I hung up before she could complete her words. And almost immediately, the door burst open. Zara froze immediately and she saw my standing figure. Her eyes darted to her wristwatch, she exhaled. “Good morning sir” she greeted, clutching her tablet closer to her chest with some files in her other hand. I looked at her from the hair on her head to her feet. My eyes paused on her feet. A red killer stilettos. The under is thinner and longer than the previous one. Is she fucking kidding me right now? Appearing on stilettoes that are far thinner than yesterday's. Didn't she get my
