SCAMMED

Ivy couldn't help but place her hands on her rapidly beating heart as she waited for her test results. It had been more than six months since they began trying for a child but all efforts had proved abortive.

Disappointed, Victor had sent her to the hospital to get a detailed examination carried out on her and it was almost time to get the results.

Ivy felt extreme relief when the doctor told her that she was perfectly okay, but then she asked the doctor, "if I'm okay, why have I not gotten pregnant?"

The doctor advised her to have her husband get tested as well and after that, he will tell them the next line of action.

When ivy got home, she told Victor everything the doctor said. However, he angrily told her that she was as stupid as the doctor.

Sensing his anger, Ivy quickly apologized and promised never to mention it again.

In the days that followed, Victor barely came back home from work and when he did, it was very late. Ivy stayed up most nights waiting for him because he never picked up her calls and the only time he paid attention to her was when he wanted her to warm his bed.

Ivy accepted her current situation as her fate and blamed it on her inability to give Victor a child. She kept going to other hospitals so she could get a different opinion but nothing came out of it.

Time passed by quickly, and as their marriage anniversary drew closer, Ivy tried everything she could think of, including watching videos online to see if she could get a remedy for her childlessness but none of them worked for her.

On one occasion, she bumped into an elderly lady while visiting the hospital. The lady was extremely nice to her and gave her a flier that had an advertisement for a herbal doctor who treated infertility in a temple.

Ivy gratefully accepted it and made plans to go to the temple without informing Victor. When she got to the temple, she met the herbal doctor who was also an elderly lady. After telling the lady about her struggles, Ivy was assured that she had come to the right place.

The lady asked ivy to lie on a bed and after touching her pelvic area, told her that her womb was not well positioned.

She told Ivy that she was going to give her a drink made with herbs which she needed to take for two weeks, during which her womb would return to the right position.

The lady, however, told Ivy that the ingredients for this drink were very expensive and would cost her five thousand dollars.

Ivy was in a dilemma as she didn't have this amount of money. She had saved up three thousand dollars since she got married to Victor.

She thought long and hard and decided to pawn all the pieces of jewelry Victor got for her when they were newly married. Despite this, she was still short of five hundred dollars.

She finally took one of Victor's old wristwatches which he no longer used, telling herself that it was for the greater good and Victor was not likely to notice it was missing since he had more luxurious watches. She pawned it as well and finally had the complete money.

She took the money to the herbal doctor and got the drink in return with the assurance that she was going to get pregnant in no time.

The herbal doctor gave Ivy her phone number to call her if she felt any discomfort and Ivy thanked her profusely.

After two weeks, Ivy tried the herbal doctor's number to inform her that she had finished the herbal drink but it was out of service. She tried repeatedly but had no success. Eventually, she decided to go see the lady in person.

Incidentally, Victor came back home to get some documents, and when he saw Ivy about to go out, he asked her where she was going and she told him that she would soon have the ability to conceive a child for him.

He looked at her angrily and said, "stop trying to deceive me, if you could give me a child, you would have done so long ago. Who knows what you did with the eggs in your body? Marrying you was a big mistake I so badly want to correct."

After saying this, he walked away. Ivy struggled to hold back her tears, telling herself that once she got pregnant, Victor would love her again.

She went back to the temple but she couldn't find the herbal doctor and her number was unreachable. She decided to ask around but everyone told her that there was no herbal doctor in the temple.

Surprised, Ivy went back to the hospital where she had met the elderly lady that directed her to the herbal doctor. She searched for her frenziedly and even tried to ask some people but no one had any information on the elderly lady.

Frustrated, Ivy went back home. She spent the following week going through the temple and hospital searching for both women without success.

On one occasion, a lady who noticed that Ivy kept coming to that temple area asked her what the problem was, and Ivy, recounted everything to the lady.

The lady looked at Ivy sympathetically and told her that there was no herbal doctor around there so she had fallen victim to scammers.

Ivy fell to her knees and cried uncontrollably. When her tears had been spent, she found her way home and cried even more, however, not for long. Her grief time was stolen as Victor suddenly walked into the room and asked about his wristwatch.

Amidst tears, Ivy told Victor everything that happened. He was so enraged at her that he pounced on her mercilessly, punching and kicking her as if she were his pillow.

She cried out in pain, begging him to stop. As he finally let her go, he warned, "if you don't want to die, never touch anything that belongs to me ever again, you worthless and dumb illiterate."
