Chapter 3: Wishing for peace

Ella didn't know how she got back to her room, her mind was still shaken by the incident just now. The maids took turns comforting their master, but Ella ignored everything they said.

"Please get out!" Ella scribbled a few words on the notebook and held it in front of the nearest servant.

The noise around her immediately ceased, returning peace to the room. As soon as the door closed, Ella couldn't stand it anymore and let her body fall freely onto the soft bed.

She buried her face in a few white pillows, curling her body like a kitten.

It turned out that her fear had come true, and the Duke of Hesing had suspected that she was not his daughter. So the Duke invited many people to the mansion, ostensibly to cure her but in fact to confirm whether she was Gabriella de Hesing or not.

Her and Gabriella's personalities in the original are very different from each other.

A princess accustomed to pampering, always vivacious and cheerful, sometimes arrogant and a little bit feisty. That was the real Gabriella, the owner of this body.

Ella is the complete opposite, she loves deserted places, and hates noise or bustle. A quiet girl like a shadow could not be like the arrogant rose of the Hesing house.

As a father, of course, the Duke would recognize this difference. And he has repeatedly confirmed whether the person in Gabriella's body is his daughter or not?

The truth is it isn't. Ella is not Gabriella at all.

But why does everyone insist that she is Gabriella? Should she consider it lucky or unlucky?

If she was discovered that she was not Gabriella de Hesing, then her tragic end would come very quickly. In this world full of miracles, there are many ways to expel a soul from the body.

And after they banished her, would they destroy her soul immediately as punishment?

Although the Duchess truly loved Ella, she was always afraid. This life is full of anxiety, how long will it last?

Sir Samuel Kime wanted to take her away from Duke Hesing's house as the price of the transaction. What does he want from you? And why would he want to choose you as what he wants?

Thousands of questions whirled around in Ella's head, sinking the poor little girl into confusion and fear.

While Ella was suffering, the Duke and his wife weren't much better. The priest of the house was hastily summoned to the mansion to answer a few questions for Duke Hesing.

“Duke, you say the contract between you and the Archmage is written with your magic and blood?” The priest asked again, his eyes thoughtful.

Duke Hesing nodded in affirmation, as he invited Samuel over to confirm his daughter's identity. The great mage had asked the Duke to sign a contract with magic and blood, Samuel swore that he would only ask for a fair price and not cause any harm to the Hesing family.

That's why the Duke signed the contract with confidence.

But he could not have imagined that Samuel wanted to take Gabriella away as the price he had to pay. This would kill his wife, as she loved her daughter like her life.

That's why the Duke is looking for ways to break the magic contract.

The priest shook his head after thinking for a long time: "The contract cannot be broken, if it is broken intentionally, it will cause the person who betrayed the contract to lose his life. In this Lani continent, no one possesses strong magic. Not as strong as Mr. Samuel Kime. Even the Cathedral has some respect for Mr. Samuel."

The priest's words caused the hope that had just been rekindled in the Duchess's heart to crumble. She buried her head in her hands and sobbed, not daring to believe that her daughter was about to be taken away.

The priest, seeing the disappointment of the Duke and his wife, sighed and said, "Not to mention that if the Cathedral found out that the duke signed a contract with the owner of the Demon Tower, it would be very troublesome. The Cathedral and the Magic Tower don't like each other. It's best if you still accept the request of Archmage Samuel, handing Princess Gabriella over to the Archmage is not necessarily a bad thing."

Duke Hesing did not get the answer he wanted, he waved his hand to let the butler see the priest out. He walked over to his crying wife, slowly holding her in his arms.

"Lady, it's my fault. I shouldn't have doubted Gabriella." Duke Hesing was deeply regretful.

The Duchess lifted her head, tears staining her beautiful face like a flower cat.

She looked at her husband with reproachful eyes: "Didn't the cardinal also check on her? He said she showed no signs of being possessed by the devil. Even though Gabriella's personality changed. what?

The Duchess used force to beat her husband, she resented him for being too suspicious to harm this family. But she couldn't understand the Duke's role, he was not only husband and father, but he was also the head of the Hesing family.

If Gabriella was possessed by the devil, someone would use this to overthrow the Hesing family. The duke is just being on guard, vigilance should still come first.

He did not resist his wife's blows, he let her vent her anger on him. After she was exhausted, the Duke quietly hugged her again.

Tears of sadness soaked the hem of the duke's chest, and choked up she said: "I will never forgive you."

"You just do whatever makes you more comfortable, I'll do as you please." Duke Hesing gently stroked his wife's hair, his eyes filled with sadness.

"Princess!"

The maid's call brought Ella's thoughts back to reality. She realized she had dropped the fork and hurriedly wanted to pick it up but was stopped by the servant.

"Princess, no way. Let me get another one for you." The maid looked at her with pity and hurriedly handed Ella another fork.

This is the third time during the meal Ella has dropped her cutlery and fork, she cannot eat dinner with her current unstable mood.

Ella hastily scribbled a few words on a piece of paper: "Sorry, help me clean up."

Then she got up from the dining table, the whole large dining hall was just her. The duke must have been busy consoling his wife, the little duke Timothy de Hesing was not at home. Gabriella's half-brother is currently attending the famous magic school for the nobility in Arsen.

The relationship between the two is neither hot nor cold and is not mentioned much in the original. But when his sister was brought to the execution site, he was also there, Timothy's expression at that time was described as very cold.

Temporarily setting aside Gabriella's brother who is far from returning, Ella still has to think through everything in front of her.

Ella originally intended to live a comfortable life in wealth, avoiding all the main characters that could make her lose her life like in the original. But Samuel's request disrupts all of her plans and awakens her from the illusion that everything is easy.

The more she thought about it, the more she felt that she should follow Samuel.

Firstly, Duke Hesing was suspicious of her. Although there is no evidence to prove that she is not Gabriella, Ella's conscience is also very troubled.

No matter how evil the evil woman is, the love of her parents for her is very deep. The disappearance of Gabriella was a cruel thing, why could Ella calmly accept the love that did not belong to her.

No one knows but she knows very well, the current Gabriella is just a fake.

Second, Duke Hesing's mansion was located right in the capital of the Magnus Federation, not far from the Cathedral. What if Ella, unfortunately, encounters Saint Vanessa or Bishop Harvey?

Ella didn't want to be involved with them at all, much less wanted to see those two. It would be a good thing to be able to leave the Magnus Federation and go far away.

The further away from the main characters, the safer her life.

Third, the Great Mage Samuel Kime is said to be a legendary figure possessing unmatched invincibility. Even Harvey Theodore, the once-in-a-lifetime genius of the Cathedral, couldn't match him.

The fact that he wanted to take her away must have had a reason, in the original Samuel was described with a humorous and peaceful personality. Although the purpose behind the sudden request is unknown, Samuel has no reason to harm Ella.

If she successfully convinces Samuel to accept her as a student, she will learn many useful things to protect herself. Not to mention that, if she was lucky enough, she might even find a way to return home.

Having everything sorted out in her mind, Ella felt her mood was much more relaxed. But a loud noise behind her made her turn around.

Ella's eyes widened in surprise, not daring to believe what she was seeing.
