MasukBRANDON ~
Words alone cannot express how I was feeling. Victoria pretends that all is well, but I know she's just masking her true feelings. I know beneath the surface lies a dangerous thought and plan she's harboring for me, which she does not want me to know of. I took a deep sigh of exasperation. I was so lost that I couldn't even remember that I was standing until Elese swung the door open and barged in. "What's happening?" She asked. "Why did you leave me outside?" "I hope you're not hiding something from me?" I swallowed hard, tilted my head to look at her, but said nothing. I breathed a deep sigh before heading to a coach to sit down. "Elese there's nothing I'm hiding from you, nor am I playing a game with Victoria against you. It's just that..." "It's just what?" She cuts in, looking deeply into my eyes with scrutiny. "There's nothing to make a fuss about, Elese. If there's anything you need to know, I wouldn't hesitate to let you know, okay?" I lamented, wanting to assuage the argument. She grunted and eventually left the room. I could not tell her destination, nor did I bother to ask her. I just wanted silence. The only person I could entertain right now is Victoria, and that's because I want to know her mind so bad. I sat there for close to ten minutes before picking up my phone to call Victoria. I needed to spend time together with her, and one of the ways to make that happen is by hosting a party. Victoria is a life of the party, so there's no way she would reject. When I dialed her line, it rang for a few seconds before she answered. "What is it, Brandon?" was what came out of her mouth. Clearly she's sick of me. "Calm down, Victoria," I said, pausing to observe her reaction. "I need to see you. We need to talk." I added after I didn't receive a harsh reply to the previous statement. She was silent for a while. "Okay. Are you still at home?" She replied. "Yes, of course." "Okay, I will be there shortly," she snapped before ending the call. I breathed a deep sigh of relief before dropping the phone to practice how to talk to her so I don't stutter when she arrives. About ten minutes later, the door was swung open, making me sit up as I thought it was Victoria entering, but my face turned pale when I saw Elese walking in. "You're still here, Brandon, looking gloomy," she said. "I know something is definitely wrong somewhere." "Elese there's nothing wrong. Okay, I was just considering whether to have Victoria stay with her parents for some time," I lied. A mischievous smile crept onto her lips at the statement. She walked and sat closer to me, her head resting on my shoulder. "That would really be nice," she said. "At least we would have more freedom. We don't need to..." Before she could finish her statement, Victoria barged in, and seeing Elese seated beside me, her head resting on my shoulder with her hand curled around my neck, made her face frown instantly. "Brandon, did you deliberately called me here to inflict more pain on me? Isn't the one you did already enough?" She questioned, her voice a mix of pain, anger, and disappointment. Elese calmly got off my body, her expression unfazed at Victoria's reaction. "Calm down, Victoria. We weren't doing anything bad." I remarked. "I don't need your explanation, Brandon. I'm not a kid. I'm here to know why you called me, and that's it." "You can do whatever you want with her; I don't care. After all..." She paused for a second. "In fact, there's no need to tell you." She shoved her hair backwards, went to the single coach, and sat down, her legs crossed. "Just tell me why you called me, please," she asked, avoiding my gaze. "I have made an arrangement for a party tonight, so I thought you'd love to be present." "What do you think?"VICTORIA ~ “How time flies.” I murmured under my breath, my thumb gently swiping across the screen of my phone. A soft smile tugged at my lips as I stared at Liam’s pictures. Those tiny hands, chubby cheeks, and that innocent smile he used to give when he didn’t even understand the world yet. "Back then, he could barely sit up on his own, but now he’s five already.” I whispered, my chest tightening slightly. Liam is five years old but so brilliant, full of energy. Literally, he's too smart for his own good. Life had moved so fast it almost felt unfair. Benita had already gone back to Manhattan after her visit. A visit I still couldn’t forget. And Philip… I sighed, locking my phone and leaning back in my chair. “He’s not giving up, is he?” I said quietly to myself. Philip had become a constant in our lives. Always showing up, always helping. In fact, he's always there for me and Liam. To the point where people in the neighborhood had already started assuming he was Liam’s fat
BRANDON ~ Watching Elese and the strange man openly express their love to each other made me nearly confront them out of jealousy. I felt jealous even though my heart doesn't belong to her anymore, but because she had never been this feminine and romantic towards me even when we were secretly dating not to mention now we're married. The man reached across the table, his fingers brushing hers. Elese didn’t pull away. She smiled instead, wide and genuine, the kind of smile that made my stomach turn violently. My first instinct was to walk over. My feet shifted forward, one step, then another, my pulse roaring in my ears, drowning out the restaurant noise. I imagined myself standing at their table and imagined the look on Elese’s face when she realized I had seen everything. Shock. Fear. Guilt. Or worse, nothing at all. “What the hell is this, Elese?” I rehearsed silently. “Is this what you do now?” The man said something that made her laugh again, and I froze, snapping
BRANDON ~ I was in my room meditating. Just when I thought I had found a solution to my problem, it turned out there's no escape route. The threat from Elese after I initiated that divorce had made me become so calm. I was literally traumatized knowing that there's nothing else I can do about it. It's either I continue with the union for my peace of mind and also get Victoria back, or I expose my true self to the world, which would cost me even more of my mental health. I mean, how can I stand in the spotlight when they have known about my darkest secrets and desires? I exhaled a sigh of frustration and tried to shrug off the thoughts in my head. I needed to concentrate on work. At about twelve o'clock p.m., I received a call from Barrister Frank, and then I knew he must be calling concerning the divorce proceedings. Like he said, we need to come to the court in order to get our divorce certificates. "He must be worried I hadn't called him since then," I mumbled, runn
VICTORIA ~ "Wow, I can't believe you went through all of that with Brandon," I exclaimed in disbelief after hearing Benita's story. She had finally made it to Asheville City. When she arrived at my place yesterday, it was already night due to her flight being delayed in Manhattan. Because of this, we couldn't have a proper discussion. She was too exhausted to even eat the dinner I had prepared for her. Initially, she said she would eat later but ended up sleeping until the next morning. "I'm really sorry you had to go through all of this because of me," I said. She chuckled and replied, "You don't have to apologize, dear. It wasn't your fault." I felt a sense of relief, although the guilt still lingered in my mind. "What would you like for breakfast?" I asked as I headed towards the kitchen. "You didn't eat last night, so you need to make up for it with breakfast," I joked, and we both laughed. "Whatever is available is fine," she responded. She never liked to be a burden to
BRANDON ~After listening to Barrister Frank's counsel, my facial expression, which had been gloomy, brightened. Indeed, it's good to have legal experts."So by willing everything under my mom's name, I wouldn't stand a chance to lose most of my properties?" I asked, trying to be sure."You wouldn't lose a penny," he reassured, bringing smiles to my face."Thank you so much, Barrister. You should start with the divorce paper preparation as soon as possible. I need this divorce more than anything else right now.""I don't wish to stay even an hour with Elese, talk more of living with her in the same building," I lamented as I walked out.My remark got Luke amused, but he withheld his laughter to maintain professionalism."It's settled already, Mr. Brandon. I'll inform you by evening when I'm done with it."Leaving the office, I felt relieved. At least I can walk out freely from this bondage called marriage withou
BRANDON ~ I left Elese's house at six o'clock p.m. for Greyson Resort, where I stopped over to cool off my mind first. With the way I was feeling, I might not be able to drive home safely because I wouldn't concentrate fully on the road. My mind would linger on the incident at Elese's house just as it is currently. If someone had told me Elese would do what she did when I walked out of her face, I would have never believed it. Common sense couldn't even tell her to run after me and pretend to be sorry, pleading for forgiveness. At the resort, the thought of what I encountered couldn't get off my mind despite the lively activities going on. "I'll have to divorce her regardless," I concluded, gritting my teeth in pain. I left the resort by eight o'clock after my friend Philip called to say that he has something to share with me and wouldn't want it to be in public. Philip is my ver
