VICTORIA ~

I calmly glanced at the seven-figure value bracelet on Elese's hand, then looked directly into Brandon's eyes.

"I mean exactly what I said. You gave the bracelet away and give me a freebie gift. Do you think I only deserve freebies?"

Brandon opened his mouth to talk, but he ended up closing it.

"I appreciate the gift, but I can't accept it. I'm sorry," I added, turning my full attention on my phone.

"It's fine, Brandon," Elese chirped in. "Don't force her into accepting it; after all, I've never seen someone begging another to accept a gift."

Brandon breathed a sigh of exasperation without saying anything. Deliberately but hesitantly, he closed the box and then stared at me for a few seconds, as if reading my expression.

"Well," he paused as he gulped. "I'll have to leave you since you're upset with me." He turned and left while Elese followed him.

Halfway, she tilted her head and winked her eyes at me, her intention obviously to make me angrier and jealous.

Nonetheless, I did not react. I simply maintained my composure.

Immediately, my phone began ringing.

When I stared at the screen, my eyebrows raised in surprise.

"Mom? "Somehow I was worried. I accepted the call and placed the phone on my right ear.

"Good evening, Mom," I greeted. "I wasn't expecting your call, though."

She chuckled. However, from her tone, I could tell it was forced. Obviously she was still not relieved from the embarrassment Brandon caused us yesterday.

"Well," she exhaled a sigh, paused for a brief second, and then continued, "your father and I organized a dinner banquet, and we would like you to join us."

My face quickly broadened into a bright smile.

"Sure, Mom, I will," I replied immediately and started getting myself ready even though the phone was still on my ear.

"We would be anticipating your arrival then," she added before the call eventually ended.

I picked up my phone and ordered a ride before hastily going to the bathroom to freshen up.

At least by the time I would be set to leave, the cab must have arrived. I won't have to wait extra hours.

Within a few minutes, I was done bathing, so I rushed back to the room to dress up.

Before I could even finish, I received a notification on my phone from the ride company, indicating that my ride was already waiting for me.

Hastily, I stormed off to meet the ride. However, when I opened the door that led to the premise, I noticed something unusual.

Brandon, whom I thought had left with Elese many hours ago, was just driving off and at the passenger's seat; no one was there, not even Elese.

"What could this mean?" I muttered to myself, different thoughts scampering across the back of my mind.

I was deeply worried until I heard the cab I ordered honk its horn at the gate. That was when I came back to reality. I quickly dashed out.

By the time I settled into the car, Brandon's car was already out of sight.

I didn't know where he was driving to, but I didn't bother to know. All I needed was to meet with my parents and rest my head on the bosom of my mom like a little baby.

The drive from our house to my parents' place was only a few kilometers, so it didn't take long, and we arrived.

To my surprise, upon alighting from the cab, Brandon's car was neatly parked at the front.

For a moment, I doubted it was truly his car until I made a move to walk into the compound when the car door opened; behold, Brandon alighted.

"What are you doing here?" I didn't even know when that question slipped off my lips.

To my surprise, he responded immediately with something that baffles me. "Exactly what you came to do."

For a second, I stood frozen. How did he know what I came to do?

My mouth opened to reply but closed as I didn't know what to say.

"Well, he might be joking," I concluded inside of me and proceeded to walk into the compound.

With my mind fully envisioning my mother's reaction when she sees me, I didn't know Brandon was following me until I opened the entry door to enter the building.

I couldn't react and prevent him from going in with me, as I did not want anything that would cause unrest in my parents' presence. It would definitely cause them high blood pressure.

The moment we walked in, my mother was seated in the sitting room, so she was the first to notice us.

Her eyes landed on me first before shifting to Brandon.

It stayed on him for seconds. During those seconds, her expression turned into an entirely different thing from how we met it.

She breathed an exasperated sigh before looking back at me.

"Victoria, is this you?" was what she said to me. Displeasure was written all over her face.

Just then, Dad walked out. The moment she saw me, his mood swung.

In honesty, I had slimmed down these past few days, thanks to Brandon and Elese.

"But Victoria, you never told me you were coming with him." Mom asked, referring to Brandon. Her tone was a mix of displeasure and concern.

BRANDON ~ "We're really sorry for the embarrassment earlier, Ms. Victoria. We were just doing our job. Please pardon us." The officer immediately apologized to Victoria after reviewing the CCTV footage that showed Musk putting the substance inside her phone. Although I was the one who had instructed him to do it, I had turned the whole thing against him because of what I had witnessed in my house earlier. How could he have the audacity to develop lustful feelings for the woman I was still doing everything possible to win back into my life? The mother of my precious son. Not only had he desired her, but he had actually attempted to sexually assault her in my own house. He didn't even try to woo her or make his intentions known. Instead, he wanted to forcefully have a taste of the woman I had been longing for myself. What an audacious human being! I turned toward Victoria, who stood there looking completely bewildered. "I'm sorry you had to go through this. You can blame it on

The plan had been simple: get Liam and leave as soon as possible. But somehow, look how far we'd come."Benita, are you sure you'll keep your promise?" I asked as Liam and I prepared to leave and board the cab waiting for us outside."Of course. I'll always visit you guys whenever I'm free," she reassured me.Before getting into the cab, Liam and I exchanged hugs with Benita. She stood outside, waving goodbye to us until the cab was completely out of sight.By the time we arrived at the airport, it was exactly eight o'clock in the morning. We headed straight to the check-in area, and almost immediately, I noticed something strange. VICTORIA ~ By the time I got to Brandon's house, it was exactly twelve o'clock in the afternoon. At first, the security guards didn't believe my story. They thought I had stolen Brandon's spare key during my brief stay here yesterday, only to return today and rob him. It was only after I called Brandon and handed the phone to one of them that they finally allowed me in. However, the moment I stepped into the house, something felt terribly off. The phone I had come to retrieve was sitting visibly on the arm of the couch, facing directly toward the entrance. This wasn't where I had left it. I was very sure of that because there was no way I would have forgotten leaving it there. "Well, Brandon might have seen it and placed it here so I could easily find it when I came back to collect it," I concluded, deciding not to think too much about it. I picked up the phone and spun around to leave, only to freeze when I saw a strange figure standing at the entrance. He was blocking the o

VICTORIA ~The moment those words left his mouth, my stomach churned with disgust. It took every ounce of self-control not to throw up right there."Did I ever tell you I needed your apology, Brandon?"Did he seriously think Benita and I had come all the way here with my son just to tell him I'd forgiven him and wanted him back? How ridiculous."What did you come here for then?" he asked, locking his eyes with mine.I opened my mouth to answer, but he cut me off before I could say a word."How long are you going to keep pretending, Victoria?" His lips curled into a smug smile. "Just admit it. There's nothing to be embarrassed about."A bitter laugh almost escaped my lips.If we hadn't been standing inside his office building, I would have said something that would wipe that arrogant expression off his face."You're awfully full of yourself," Benita snapped before I could respond. "Bold of you to think we're here to lick your ass, Brandon."He let out a slow, exhausted sigh and leaned

  • I Need You Ex-wife!    34: For The Sake Of Our Son

BRANDON ~ After Victoria left with her friend Benita with her car, I could remember standing there for close to thirty minutes before being finally distracted when I noticed a car approaching. Had it not honked its horn, I would still be there and get knocked down. Although the headlamp lights were visibly shining, I was so absent-minded that I couldn't notice the car approaching. Now in my sitting room, my gaze is upcast, staring at the ceiling as I reminisce about everything I went through in bringing Liam back to Manhattan only to lose him in that manner. "Maybe I should involve the police and claimed that Victoria unlawfully took my child." I thought to myself, given the fact that Liam look so much like me. But then again, I realized I do not have any birth certificate of him. "Well..." I breathed a sigh. "I'm grateful that I was able to see my child at least and interacted with him for some moments." I managed to get up from the couch to leave for my room. If not for anyt

She brushed my face with her palms, wiping the drowsiness off my face. She hurried into the kitchen, and within seconds, she was already out, carrying a bowl of rice. The sight alone made me almost sith, but I managed to conceal my feelings, knowing fully well that Benita would feel somehow. She might think the food is not appetizing, not knowing that I had completely stopped eating rice for the moment due to my health.I could not outrightly tel
