VICTORIA ~

After dealing with everything, I returned to the party only to see Brandon protecting Elese, loudly accusing another person.

From their words, it wasn't hard to tell that the person had accidentally spilled some wine from their glass on the corner of Elese's clothes, and Brandon was insistently demanding an apology.

Looking at the scene before me, I suddenly remembered several years ago.

At that time, Brandon and I were attending the same banquet. As we passed by the champagne tower in the middle of the party, Elese directly pushed me. I lost my balance and fell onto the champagne tower.

The wine glasses shattered, and wine mixed with blood flowed down my body. I sought help from Brandon, but he scolded me loudly in front of everyone.

"Can't you walk properly! Can't you see such a big champagne tower?"

"You still crashed into it; don't you know how important this party is? I really don't know why someone as useless as you is still alive!"

"If I were you, I'd just bash my head in right here!"

Those were his exact words.

Coming back to the present, looking at all this before me, I just found it extremely laughable. I simply turned and left, heading home.

Brandon didn't come home all night. I wasn't surprised, as this wasn't the first time.

*

In the morning when I was washing up, I saw Brandon returning with breakfast, and Elese was walking behind him.

Seeing me coming out, he put the breakfast on the dining table and surprisingly offered an explanation.

"We played too late last night. Elese was afraid to be alone, so I sent her home."

"It was already midnight, so I just slept at her place for the night."

"That's right, Victoria, you're not angry, are you?"

Elese was holding onto his arm, challenging me as she spoke.

I nodded, not saying a word. Brandon seemed to have noticed my coldness; he put the breakfast on the table and spoke softly.

"Victoria, didn't you always want to see that newly released movie?"

"I happen to have time today; I'll take you to see it."

That movie had received rave reviews since its release, and I had asked Brandon many times to take me to the cinema to watch it, but he always refused.

He always says he had many things to deal with at the company, but not many days later, I saw him on Elese's I*******m.

[The best movie deserves the best you.]

The photo didn't show faces, but looking at the intertwined hands in the picture, even without showing faces, I could recognize it was them in a cinematic center.

Smelling the faint perfume on Brandon, I directly refused.

"No need, I have something to do today."

Seeing me like this, a flash of embarrassment crossed his eyes; he wanted to say something more.

Meanwhile, Elese had already sat down on the sofa, looking at me innocently.

"Victoria, when you say you have something to do, is it to meet your college classmate?"

I looked at her, puzzled. The fact that I was preparing for divorce was known only to me and the lawyer, so how did she know about this?

To think she knows that this lawyer was my college classmate baffles me.

Seeing my puzzled look, Elese again looked at Brandon helplessly.

"Brandon, don't be angry. I heard from a friend the other day that they saw Victoria and a college classmate at a coffee shop behaving..."

She deliberately paused, then spoke again as if afraid.

"Intimately..."

"But maybe my friend saw wrong. Victoria loves Brandon so much. How could she cheat on her first love?"

As soon as she finished speaking, Brandon's face immediately fell. He raised his hand and smashed the vase on the table, looking at me angrily.

"Victoria! You refuse to go see the movie with me because you want to go out and meet another man in private!"

"How can you do this to the child in your belly!"

I lowered my head to look at the broken pieces of the vase on the ground. Before I could speak, Elese spoke again, pretending to be generous.

"Brandon, don't be angry; we should talk calmly."

"We can't blame Victoria for doing this; after all, isn't Victoria's mother also because of an affair...?"

This time, before she could finish speaking, I grabbed a tissue from the side and threw it at her. I could tolerate her slandering me, but not my mother.

The place where Elese had been hit by the tissue immediately turned red; Brandon hurriedly raised her arm to look at it with concern.

Seeing Elese's aggrieved appearance, he immediately pointed at me and scolded angrily.

"Victoria, you've really disappointed me!"

"Even if what Elese said isn't true, you can't raise your hand against her! Don't you know..."

He wanted to continue his endless accusations but was directly interrupted by me.

"So, you know what she said isn't true!"

Brandon's face immediately became embarrassed, but he quickly regained his composure, pointing at me self-righteously.

"Yes, I saw it that day too."

"You're wrong to hit Elese. Apologize to her quickly, or we'll go get a divorce right now!"

A chill immediately spread throughout my body. I looked at him in disbelief but still chose to make one last attempt at reconciliation.

"Brandon, I've made an appointment for an abortion; will you come with me tomorrow?"

Brandon immediately sneered, as if I was telling some kind of joke.

"Abortion?"

VICTORIA ~ By the time I got to Brandon's house, it was exactly twelve o'clock in the afternoon. At first, the security guards didn't believe my story. They thought I had stolen Brandon's spare key during my brief stay here yesterday, only to return today and rob him. It was only after I called Brandon and handed the phone to one of them that they finally allowed me in. However, the moment I stepped into the house, something felt terribly off. The phone I had come to retrieve was sitting visibly on the arm of the couch, facing directly toward the entrance. This wasn't where I had left it. I was very sure of that because there was no way I would have forgotten leaving it there. "Well, Brandon might have seen it and placed it here so I could easily find it when I came back to collect it," I concluded, deciding not to think too much about it. I picked up the phone and spun around to leave, only to freeze when I saw a strange figure standing at the entrance. He was blocking the o

VICTORIA ~The moment those words left his mouth, my stomach churned with disgust. It took every ounce of self-control not to throw up right there."Did I ever tell you I needed your apology, Brandon?"Did he seriously think Benita and I had come all the way here with my son just to tell him I'd forgiven him and wanted him back? How ridiculous."What did you come here for then?" he asked, locking his eyes with mine.I opened my mouth to answer, but he cut me off before I could say a word."How long are you going to keep pretending, Victoria?" His lips curled into a smug smile. "Just admit it. There's nothing to be embarrassed about."A bitter laugh almost escaped my lips.If we hadn't been standing inside his office building, I would have said something that would wipe that arrogant expression off his face."You're awfully full of yourself," Benita snapped before I could respond. "Bold of you to think we're here to lick your ass, Brandon."He let out a slow, exhausted sigh and leaned

BRANDON ~ After Victoria left with her friend Benita with her car, I could remember standing there for close to thirty minutes before being finally distracted when I noticed a car approaching. Had it not honked its horn, I would still be there and get knocked down. Although the headlamp lights were visibly shining, I was so absent-minded that I couldn't notice the car approaching. Now in my sitting room, my gaze is upcast, staring at the ceiling as I reminisce about everything I went through in bringing Liam back to Manhattan only to lose him in that manner. "Maybe I should involve the police and claimed that Victoria unlawfully took my child." I thought to myself, given the fact that Liam look so much like me. But then again, I realized I do not have any birth certificate of him. "Well..." I breathed a sigh. "I'm grateful that I was able to see my child at least and interacted with him for some moments." I managed to get up from the couch to leave for my room. If not for anyt

VICTORIA ~By the time we got to Benita's house, it was already dark."What exactly happened? Why did it take you so long?" Benita unleashed the long-acquired question she had been wanting to ask."Please get me something to eat first; we'll talk about that later," I replied, slumping on the couch in the sitting room."Since today I haven't eaten, from one problem to another." I huffed a tired sigh, my eyes closing as if I were dozing off, but Benita leaned in and intervened."Please don't sleep," she said. "I will get you something shortly." She brushed my face with her palms, wiping the drowsiness off my face. She hurried into the kitchen, and within seconds, she was already out, carrying a bowl of rice. The sight alone made me almost sith, but I managed to conceal my feelings, knowing fully well that Benita would feel somehow. She might think the food is not appetizing, not knowing that I had completely stopped eating rice for the moment due to my health.I could not outrightly tel

  • I Need You Ex-wife!    32: I'll Never Leave You

VICTORIA ~ Brandon was still talking when I stood up and held my son by his wrist to leave. He hurried after me. "Why are you so much in a hurry to leave my house?" "Because you are making your house unconformable for me," I replied, looking away while tightening my grip around my son's wrist. "Okay, I promise not to make it uncomfortable for you again," he responded, staring directly into my eyes, but I did not respond. "Are you now going to stay?" He asked, and I quickly nodded in affirmation. "Are you sure you'll now stay?" he repeated, his tone showing fear and insecure. "Of course, I will," I replied nonchalantly, just so he could let me be. Meanwhile, I was already thinking of a way to escape the building. Benita must have gotten tired of waiting for me. It's almost half an hour since I discussed it with her, and I have not shown up when I clearly told her I was on the way already as of the time we spoke. "Okay, wait while I go get something for you," he said,

  • I Need You Ex-wife!    31: Emergency Call

BENITA ~ I was about to lock the door of my apartment when I felt my phone vibrating inside my handbag. My mind spirals into many possibilities of who it could be. I had just closed from work, so there's no way it would be from my boss or be a work-related issue. I dipped my hand into the handbag and took out the phone only to discover it was Brandon. Although his number was not saved in my phone, I was able to detect it was him because that was the same number that called me previously requesting I reveal Victoria's location to him. With a furrowed gaze, I stared at the screen, contemplating whether to accept the call or decline it. I stared at the screen until the call ended. Just when I was about to fling the phone into my bag and continue with where I was going, the call came again. This time I quickly accepted the call. My intention was to yell at him and then end the call, but his voice came quickly. "Benita, please, I need your help." His voice was calm and laced with
