Chapter 8: Black Diamond

Sarah’s POV.

"Mom, are you joking?" I chuckle nervously as my hands start to sweat.

"It's the truth, dear," my mother replies with a somber tone and choked sobs.

"Don't joke like that, it's not funny at all, Mom." I let out a small, weird laugh.

“...”

"Mom? Hello??" I ask, but there's no response.

The car screeches to a halt in front of my house, and I jump out of the car, thanking the man who helped me.

As I push open the door and step inside, my eyes widen as I see my mother sitting on the floor. Her face is pale and lifeless.

"Mom, I'm home."

A gloomy atmosphere envelops the entire house. My mother is frozen like a statue, showing no response when I speak.

"Mom," I whisper, sitting down next to her and gently touching her arm.

My mother remains silent, staring attentively at our family photo on the wall.

As the doorbell rings, I run to open it. My grandparents and siblings are standing outside, and I welcome them inside. I discover from their conversation that my father
