Sophia clearly wasn't expecting me to steal her lines.

She blinked, then her face went dark fast.

"I knew it! Kane's got someone in the pack!"

She was tall, strong, and famously fierce. If she actually swung, one slap could send a grown wolf stumbling.

"Told me he had pack business over Thanksgiving, turns out he was out there messing around behind my back!"

"Which one of you is it? Step up! I swear I will rearrange your face today!"

Every wolf in the hall gave up all pretense of working.

Phones lit up one after another.

Some stood in the back watching the show. Some were already sending messages to other territories.

Every eye in the room was on Sophia.

And Evelyn was standing right in the middle of the crowd.

Silver warrior uniform, hands clasped in front of her, biting her lip, looking like she had something to say but couldn't quite get it out.

After a moment, she spoke. Softly.

"During Thanksgiving..."

"It seems like Viola was the only one who stayed with Alpha Kane to handle border affairs."

The words hit the floor.

The entire atmosphere shifted.

"Yeah, now that she mentions it, it was Viola."

"She's been running the northern alliance stuff all week."

"Alpha Kane kept saying he was on territory handling business."

"So it was her all along..."

The whispers were like needles, thin and sharp, piercing into my ears one by one.

In my last life, those same whispers had nailed me to the wall as a shameless woman.

This time, I just found it funny.

Sophia narrowed her eyes and looked me up and down.

She slowly raised her hand. It hovered in the air, already loaded.

"Viola? It was you."

"Running around all eager to help me find the homewrecker. Guilty conscience much? Takes one to catch one, huh?"

I pointed at my own nose.

"Me? Guilty?"

"Sis, open your eyes and look at me!"

I jabbed a finger at the dark circles under my eyes, so deep they'd practically turned black, then grabbed a fistful of my wrecked, tangled hair.

"Look at the state of me!"

"Seven days of Thanksgiving! I worked every single one! I didn't even have time to sleep!"

I yanked the cloth off the nearest desk.

Underneath was a pile of over a dozen empty herbal energy tea cans. I slammed them on the table.

"These are all mine! Seven days of all-nighters!"

"Every day I was either guarding the border or negotiating alliances for the pack!"

"The Iceplain wolves up north suddenly demanded a thirty percent increase on the herb exchange. I drove out in the middle of the night and talked them down myself!"

"The western trade convoy got ambushed by a rogue pack. I led warriors on a chase that lasted till dawn to get their cargo back!"

"The border patrol had a crisis on the day of the Moon Festival. I handled that solo too!"

My voice kept rising. Seven days of rage finally detonated.

"And what happened?"

"Your Alpha said he'd handle pack business with me. So where the hell did he go?"

"Whoever he was out there seeing, I have no clue!"

"But I swear to God, I want to know even more than you do!"

The entire hall went silent for two full seconds.

A young wolf who'd been secretly filming couldn't hold it in. He muttered under his breath.

"Holy crap..."

Sophia was clearly thrown off.

The hand she'd raised froze in midair. For the first time, she didn't bring it down.

But I was only getting madder.

"Sis, whatever leads you've got, bring them to me!"

"I will personally help you drag that shameless homewrecker out into the open!"

"Forget her!"

"Once I find her, I'm hauling her in front of the Elder Council myself and putting her through the Judgment of the Moon!"

Sophia stared at me.

Her face cycled through several shades of white and green.

She clearly hadn't expected me not only to hold my ground, but to turn the fire back on her.

She gritted her teeth. Then she let out a cold laugh.

"Fine."

"Since you're so eager to know, let me show you the proof."

She ripped open the leather satchel at her side.

Pulled out a crumpled receipt.

Sophia's voice cut through the hall like a blade.

"Seven days of Thanksgiving."

"Kane booked seven consecutive nights at the Moonshade Inn. The private Moonlight Suite."

The last few words dropped, and the room exploded.

The private Moonlight Suite.

In the wolf world, that's basically a couples-only hideaway.

Sophia's gaze swept across every young she-wolf in the room like a knife.

"Which one of you is it? Step up right now!"

"Don't make me go through you one by one!"

Dead silence.

That's when Evelyn suddenly slapped a hand over her mouth.

Her eyes, panicked, darted to me.

Behind them, a flicker of guilt, gone in an instant.

Then, like something had just occurred to her, she spoke carefully.

"Viola..."

"During Thanksgiving, weren't you posting on your wolf spirit feed about being stuck handling pack business near the territory?"

"I remember... I think... it was this same Moonshade Inn?"

Before the enforcement squad arrived, Isabella had already lost every last shred of patience. She stood in front of Elena, chest heaving, all the fury she'd been holding back finally detonating.Elena clutched her swollen cheek, the fragile innocent act long gone, looking like someone whose last disguise had been ripped clean off.On the other side, Damian was on his knees in front of Isabella."Isabella, I was wrong.""We've been mates for years. You can't really hand me over to the Elder Council.""Give me one more chance. I can explain everything."Isabella looked down at him. Nothing left in her eyes but disgust and the cold stare of a stranger."Mates?"She let out one short laugh."My family fought to get you the Alpha seat. My family gave you warriors and silver. I spent years shielding you from the Elders' doubts. And this is how you repay me?""You were meeting another woman behind my back. You had the whole pack covering for you. You were ready to throw Viola out as your scap

"Check it."Isabella said one word. Cold enough to frost glass. The treasury elder had been hiding behind the crowd watching the show for a while now. When she called his name, the old wolf visibly flinched. He hurried out clutching the ledger, forehead already slick with sweat.Isabella didn't even glance at Damian. She spoke only to the elder. "Pull every pack expense from the seven days of Thanksgiving.""Hotel charges, private dining, gift purchases, and every extra under Damian's name.""And Viola's pack stipend.""Her seven-day duty pay, border travel costs, and Moonshade Inn room fees. Every single item."Damian's face went dark."Isabella!""How long are you going to keep this up?"Isabella looked up at him. The chill in her eyes could stop a heartbeat."Whose money built this territory's treasury? You haven't forgotten, have you?""Back when you were a nobody Alpha with no foundation, who went to the Elder Council and fought to put you in that seat?""I put you up there. And I

The hall was silent as death. The wolves who'd been whispering moments ago had all gone mute. Dozens of stares locked onto me.I looked at Elena. My voice was cold."Weren't you just saying it was suspicious that Damian and I were on comms late at night?""Then maybe you can explain why your voice shows up in his recording."Elena's lips trembled. The tears came fast."Viola, you can't just decide it's me because a voice sounds similar...""Voices can be faked. How do I know you didn't plant fake evidence to clear yourself?"Damian grabbed the opening. "Exactly. One comm recording doesn't prove anything.""Viola, don't drag innocent pack members into your mess just because you're under suspicion."I almost laughed."Dragging innocent people?"I pointed at the surveillance footage still up on the crystal screen."Then explain why I was receiving your pack orders in the middle of the night.""Why you had me rewriting the northern alliance terms. Why you kept me on border comms until dawn

Elena's tears came flooding out."I was handling the hotel registration for Alpha Damian!""He said there were trade envoys from outside the territory staying at the Moonshade Inn over Thanksgiving. I just picked up the room pass like he told me to.""Pack assistants handle this kind of thing for the Alpha all the time. What's so strange about that?"I nearly choked laughing."Booking a private Moonlight Suite for outside trade envoys? For seven consecutive nights?""You actually expect anyone to buy that?"Someone in the crowd couldn't hold it in. A laugh escaped, but one look at Damian's face and they ducked their head.Sophia wasn't laughing at all.The fury behind her eyes was barely contained.Damian immediately stepped in front of Elena."I told her to do it.""She was just following pack protocol. She had no idea what happened in that room."I stared at him. The irony was almost too much."Alpha Damian, didn't you just say I was the one chasing you?""Now the hotel records show

Damian's face finally went all the way dark.He stepped forward, clearly trying to shut this down. "Viola, cut it out.""Phones contain pack business and private information. If we force an inspection and something leaks, who takes the blame?"I laughed right in his face."When you were putting me on trial in front of the whole pack just now, nobody seemed worried about privacy.""Or does the Alpha get privacy while regular pack members don't?"Low murmurs spread through the hall. More than a few wolves were looking at Damian differently now.Elena was still crying. She sniffled softly. "Viola, you probably already deleted everything ahead of time.""Acting all confident now just because you know there's nothing left to find."I looked at her. And smiled."Nothing to find?"I raised my hand and pointed at the receipt in Sophia's hand."Then check the Moonshade Inn.""Messages can be deleted. They can be faked. But the hotel guard logs and the scent imprints left by anyone who entered t

The second those words left my mouth, the entire council hall went dead silent. The wolves who'd been whispering shut up instantly. Dozens of phone cameras swung toward me.Elena's face went white, but she was still fighting to hold that innocent look together.Damian walked out of the conference room behind me.The smile on his face hadn't fully faded. He clearly assumed I was cornered and this was my last desperate move.Isabella locked her eyes on me. "Who?"I caught my breath, but I didn't point at Elena. Not yet.Last life, I'd rushed to prove myself and walked straight into the trap they'd set. This time, I wasn't going to hand myself over with a single accusation.I took a step forward. And smiled."Sis, if I just say a name right now, you might not believe me.""So why don't we let the evidence do the talking?"Isabella frowned. "Evidence?"I turned and swept my gaze across every wolf in the hall."Think carefully. During those seven days of Thanksgiving, who was the first pers
