Few minutes after she showered, she saw Skype walking round the front door and then she went downstairs to open it.
'Where did you go girl?' She asked her.
Skype just shake her head and whimpered.
'Alright.'
'You know, you should let that dog go out a bit, a run or something.' She heard her sister as she walked through the hall.
'I do that.'
'Oh okay!' She said before entering her room; the room Amber had reserved for her.
'Alright, good night, Skype.' She stroke her dog and kissed her before walking upstairs to Jessie's room.
'Amber, do you think I can get a job in the company, I love painting, I do but is it a bad thing to try other things?'
Amber sat on her bed. Her father had insisted she get a job, to have something to fall back on, that painting was just a hobby but he didn't need to convince Jessie of the point he was making because Jessie would say proudly that painting was her source of livelihood. 'Of course not, you can be good at things, besides it will be good for a resume.'
'I don't think artists needed resumes.' She said brushing her hair.
'In receptions which is inevitable, I am sure they do and I am doing you a favor.' Letting her work in her company, was great.
She smiled. 'Thank you, Ms Amber Pade, I promise not to fail you.' She did a small ridiculous bow, making Amber smile.
'You should save that promise for when you get the job.'
Jessie drop her brush and climbed onto her bed. 'Of course, I will get the job, the CEO is my twin sister....' She immediately paused, her mouth opened.
'What?'
'Am. I got a crazy idea.'
Amber waited, her ears hanging, when she knew this was going to be bad. Whenever Jessie called her Am something is definitely going to go wrong. A very bad idea.
'Let's me go in place of you. See how good I am in handling the job, the people..... Amber isn't it.......'
She shook her head. She wasn't going to let her entire staff think Jessie is the CEO; and it always didn't end well for them. 'It is crazy goofy idea, Jess. I am not hiring you as a stand in. You are going to work but as something else.' Amber told her simple and clear.
'What, like what?'
'Wait until morning.' Actually there was no vacancy and she couldn't just fire anyone just to get a spot for her sister, but by morning, she would know what to do, before they get to the company.
She grumbles and falls back to her bed, before picking up her phone.
'Jessie, would it be crazy, if I told you......' She paused. Everyone in the family liked his competency but he was just ....so .....
'What?' Jessie was slightly distracted. 'Why isn't he answering my messages?'
'Who isn't answering your messages?' Amber interested.
'Somebody. What were you saying?' Still not looking at her.
'Could it be crazy, if I told you I think I saw Nicholas at the airport.'
Her sister's face raised up to look at her second identical face inches from her but only reading confusion.
'Nicholas Mitchell?' Your Nick?' Excitement was loud enough to her give chills.
She felt his name was too loud in her ears that She had to block them. 'Stop yelling, Jess.' Jessie have always been fond of Nicholas, she was his biggest fan. She liked him because he was simple.....yet strangely complicated. She some times wondered why he allowed her fall in love with him and not Jessie. They would have made a fine couple.....and maybe that would have left her heartbroken for while. She sometimes wondered if Jessie ever loved him....ever. The only time, they fell for the same guy was in high school and the boy had chosen her sister because she was more fun. But did she and Nick ever.......
She sighed, she wasn't ready to find out and besides, she didn't care.
'Am, we are the only ones in this house, who cares.....' She said smiling profusely until she paused and looked at her phone before facing her sister. 'You said think?'
'What you mean think?'
Amber explained everything that happened at the airport to her sister.
'Maybe he wasn't the one.' Jessie said finally after the story.
'I don't think he was the one.'
Jessie looked at her, seriously this time, that Amber wondered if she had anything on her face, before she had time to ask.
'What if he was the one, Amber? What if he was standing right there? What would you have done?'
She haven't thought about it like that. But if.....if he had been the one; she wouldn't have cared. Would she?
'I don't care. We are separated. I shouldn't care, right?' She said, her feelings in doubt.
Her sister sighed. 'Amber, separation doesn't mean you are divorced yet.'
That is just because he had disappeared after he left the house and there was no way she could find him to sign the papers.
'And you still haven't forgotten about him.'
'Come on.' She has actually.
'No, you haven't.' Her sister disagree.
'Yes, I have.'
'How do you explain why you allowed his sister to work in your office?'
She thought for a while. She has nothing to do with them and besides she knew her personally. 'She has a good resume.'
'Why do you still live here, in the same house, he designed for you guys?'
Did she forget to mention; Nick is a great architect, among many other talents he had, he had Amazing designs and he made sure he had the right one before they began building.
'It is my house too, I paid for it.' And she loved this house. It was home.
She saw her sister nod her head. 'How do you explain Skype going to the garden every night.'
She did that whenever he was around but ever since he left, she closed both the front and the back door and Skype had understood things were not going to be the same.
'She is indoors now.'
'How do you explain why you still think he is close by?'
How? Nick has that quality that can not be missed. 'He has that Aura of a god......he draws attention.' Maybe she just feel he is close by. Whenever he was; the hair on her arms stand, she suddenly feel a bit chilly and a crazy sensation in her stomach.
Maybe this was bad. It's been a year, she should have forgotten him by now, besides she was the one who drove him to leave and he couldn't just come back like that.
Hello, Amber.....You aren't his personal assistant that needs to know his every schedule, he can go as he pleases.
god? Attention? 'He draws attention but wait......Didn't you say, he had no insurance.'
She sighed, waking up from memories. He worked two jobs, week days and weekends, office job during the week and a Waiter during the weekend and half of the money he earned was on his mother's hospital bills and sister's school fees.
'How did he get the money for the house?'
'He asked for a loan.'
Jessie shifted to her. 'I thought you said he was well-off, he is well-built, dashing and impressively clothed. I don't understand.' Jessie was not always around for catch ups on her life, so the gist came to her bit by bit.
She didn't understand why they got married in the first place, either. 'He is okay, but we ran out of money.'
Jessie didn't believe her ears. 'You chickened out?'
'He pushed me, we said somethings, he said somethings......then we both chickened out.' She said defensively.
Jessie knew she couldn't judge knowing her relationship wasn't any better and she hadn't heard the two parties to make a valved judgement, not like it was needed.
She sighed as she tucked her hair behind her ear.
'So, you don't love him anymore?' It was question, she hoped the right answer waited to accompany it.
Amber nod her head. She had moved on. Anthony mention of him, just made her go back to how things was when he was around but she had moved on, she had someone right now. 'No, I don't love him.'
Jessie nodded but she wasn't completely satisfied with her sister's answer. 'Then you don't have to worry, whenever you see him, give him the divorce papers act like you don't care. He will not take it lightly.'
She nod, she would do exactly that to get rid of Nicholas Mitchell in her head. She stood up and turned facing her sister.
She remembered the messages. 'Are you sure you don't want to talk to me about that message, Jess?' She said with a smile.
After talking to her sister, she always feel lightheaded, sometimes it was almost like she was talking to herself.
'Not today, Amber. When do we leave for the office?'
'7:30.' She said before she walked out, leaving her sister to rest for the night.
When she got to her room, she didn't sleep immediately; she looked round the room, that used to be his and hers. After staying here for a year, their fight started. Maybe she shouldn't have insisted on keeping the house, maybe she should have lived somewhere else and that would have been intimidation on her part. Because he married her, didn't mean he could always act all high and mighty and that was why she insisted on her house.....she didn't care, he should get a new house, rent a place, live there.....this was her dream house and she was not going to allow anyone to take it from her.
Her eyes finally closed at 12:00am.
She sighed as Susan's screamed, making her shock.'Bachelorette parties are awesome!' Cassie shouted behind her. She knew that because she experienced one herself. They sat down in front of the stage, Susan sitting with a crown on her head and a swarl round her shoulders. On it was written; Bride to be.She didn't think she could have fun. Cassie had actually hired those male stripers, she was completely sure it was Susan's idea; after a few rounds of dancing and more than a few drinks, she began to feel lightheaded. She moved close to the bride, away from the two men who were trying to hold her back to dance with them.'I need to use the bathroom.'Her friend just nod and she went away from the sea of people. She was smiling freely until her feet stopped by the ladies' door. She turned to look at the person standing at end of the bar, standing with his hand in the pocket and drink in one hand. What was Nicholas doing here? When did he get b
She smiled as she sat down beside her mom on the table for six; her mom, dad, Anthony, Jessie wasn't on her seat, Jake and her cousin; Florence, she just came by to say hi. The couple were dancing and some other couples had joined them on the dance floor. She had left them to be away from Nicholas hawk eyes that didn't waver in her direction; she could breathe normally and think again about other things that was not Nicholas Mitchell.'Hello.' She heard behind her.She gasps silently and rolled her eyes, he just had to follow her here.'Nicholas!' She heard her mom's enthusiastic voice; happy to see him. Her mother never liked him because he couldn't afford to pay for the entire wedding but what changed; she asked as Nicholas hugged her.He smiled at her father; her dad still had a liking of him; he was a good employee. He looked at Jake after he had hugged Florence, waiting for introductions. She looked away; he didn't need to be
She sighed as Jessie past her; ever since the bachelorette party; Amber hadn't felt the need to talk to her sister because of so much questions she feared Jessie had answers to and Jessie had ignored her anyway, because even she didn't have anything to say to her.She sighed; she wasn't used to remaining furious with someone she lived with, she walked to Jessie's room, just before she could put off the light.Jessie saw her at the door. 'Did you need something, Amber?'She started to say no but she knew she couldn't stay angry with Jessie for no reason especially for a man she was trying so hard to forget he exists.'Have you seen Nicholas?'She sighed tiredly like she didn't have time for such interrogations but she answered anyway. The look in Amber's eye, told her, she couldn't hide everything forever..... eventually she would come to know everything.'Yes. I'm sorry, I didn't tell you earlier. I met him before you did at the airport.' She had
A week later, she was looking cheerful, she decided to fetch gorceries and she was happy she didn't see Nicholas much to her surprise, it confirmed that he had always been interested in Jessie and still is.She smiled warmly at the security guard before entering; he smiled back flustered and even the manager smiled at her.'You never stop looking stunning, Ms.''Only you say that, Walls.'He smiled; he was happy to serve her anytime; she had been the one who got him this store and funny thing she didn't have pay for anything she buys from here but after a lot of argument, he'd let her off with a huge discount.'Can I be your assistant?' He asked.'I am fine, Walls.' She picked a stroller. 'I will call you if I need anything.' She said heading towards the toiletries. She was making the trip because her schedule next week was crazy; she had meetings to attend. Jessie never have time, she work Monday to Friday and the weekends she wasn't always
She walked to the kitchen; once she had dropped the things she brought on the counter, she went back to on her answering machine and played for any messages in her absence.'Hello, this is Amber Page, I am busy right now, leave a message.' She heard before she turned her attention to the gorceries on the counter, she began to unpack.'Hey, babe. Just called to say Hi.......I missed you; can we have lunch tomorrow.....call me.' She heard; Jake sounded like he needed something.'Hey, Babe, this is your best friend; the client said the shipping won't be this week, he said next month..... I was upset when I heard; that man likes procrastinating...... I hope you are having a relaxing weekend..... enjoy, see you on Monday.' Cassie's voice ended; he sure likes procrastinating.... about a relaxing weekend.....so far it has been heated. When......She stopped her thinking as she hears her sister's voice.'I don't know where you went, what is keeping you so l
He smiled at the priest as he called he and the god mother to stand by the child and her mother and he was happy, when he held Amber's hand; he missed touching her, feeling her skin and he could see from where he stood the dark color she had placed on her lashes, and her brows were curved perfectly; he could smell her vanilla perfume; The divorce was all she cared about; he thought as they moved apart. She wanted to divorce him; was she pregnant with Jake's child or was he proposing to marry her?He had asked for them to talk; but he didn't want to just talk. ..he had spoken to Maxwell and he has helped him figured out how to reach her but now, he just didn't know.He had said they should talk about the divorce he didn't want. ....Yes, he had an idea.If she wanted to divorce, she just have to show him that she didn't need him and he knew exactly what to do.He smiled at the ladies that looked his way. He still had effect on the ladies
Smiling he entered the kitchen. He was feeling joyous; the day was going to end well, he had good vibes about it.'Where is that young man that was with you?' He heard Mrs Pade asked.Nicholas knew who she was talking about. He smiled as he moved to the tray of fruits on the kitchen table. 'He went to take a shower.'She nod her head to him. 'Go sit in the living room, we will serve the food.'He took a bite from the Apple he picked deliberately avoiding the look Amber gave him. He looked directly at his mother-in-law. 'Let me help.'She looked at him smiling and then nodded her head. He held his apple in his hand. 'What do I do?'She smiled at him; 'First, did you finish your work in the study?'Nicholas nod his head. She smiled again. 'First, tell me, how does this taste?' She told him as she placed a half full soup of the porridge, she blew on it first before putting it into his mouth. After few seconds, he gave her a th
She sighed as she entered her office, immediately she sat; Lucy knocked and entered.'Good morning, ma.''Morning, Lucy. What about the T.K transport company?' She turned on her computer.'Ma'am, I have been tried to get appointment but the Secretary says her manager is not available right now but I will check again.'Amber looked at the lady; sometimes she could be unreliable and most times she was a dedicated secretary. She looked at Lucy; she had called Lucy on Saturday to tell her to confirm the appointment with the transportation company and she must have put aside everything else to do the task; even though she didn't get the appointment.'How was your weekend, Lucy?'Lucy stared at her for a second, not totally understanding the reason for the question. 'It was fine ma.'There were good days and bad days; bad days; her boss didn't give her any sympathy or show any concern but the good days.......... This was one of the good days; a
