Ira's PovJust like the bracelet, the necklace may be real but definitely not made of gold. I hate that they find it okay to play with my mind. "How kind of you to want me to have it?" I fake a smile as I take hold of the necklace and they all smile back. "It would look extremely good on your queen. You gave her a lot of real gold," I say."Our queen isn't actually beautiful or deserving of such," King Tiras replies."Oh, of course. She isn't a stupid commoner human," I say before ripping the necklace apart. Everyone gasps in shock as the pearls fall to the ground. There are no longer golden beads as they were all illusions. "Ira . . . we just wanted to make you happy even though we are far away from our kingdom," King Adon lies. I reach into the pocket of my coat and take out the bracelet he gave me. "Were we not in your kingdom when you gave me this trash?" I toss it at his beautiful face. Heavy silence befalls the clearing as the kings pretends to be rueful for the a hundredth
Ira's Pov"I need to go back and save my friend from a trap," I say to the Sincarion, turning to head back."Come with me.""Those won't be necessary," he points at the cloaks. "I set the traps to catch Lysandra's spies. It's better I help free your friend without fouling the clothes of the mighty kings. Who knows how they will react?"I nod. Of course the angel kings wouldn't be pleased to wear the cloaks after we have used them to break Linda's fall. "Why did you set traps?" I question as he leads the way to the clearing."Lysandra and her followers hunts us too. Her dark spirits craves sacrifices of Sincarion kindred," he answers. So Lysandra is a common enemy of us both. I cannot speak for the angel kings as I am not honestly sure that they will remain on our side.I wonder what other illusions they have created to lie to me. Nothing seems real anymore. Getting a Sincarion was indeed the best decision I have made. If I am the one paying him, he works for me.I spot Lior and Thumas
Ira's PovWho would have thought that I would be the one to find a Sincarion? And not an ordinary Sincarion, but a strong one who likely knows how to fight. "I am Ira. It's wonderful to meet you, sir," I put on the sweetest smile I can master. "Ira, as in the poor mate of the angel kings?" the Sincarion questions.Poor? When did my unattractive wealth status become so public? Or is it not what he is referring to? The word poor can also mean pathetic. Which is a perfect description of what the angel kings made me look like when they thought that I was a useless human. "Yes, I was once the poor mate of the angel kings," I admit with a shrug of my shoulders."And now? What are you to them?" the Sincarion asks, walking closer."Nothing. We just happen to be chasing similar goals," I reply. "The witch you talked about, she has enslaved my father for his special blood. I seek to save him and the angel kings seek to kill her," I add. He is a Sincarion so lying isn't an option. I also int
Ira's Pov"She is such a clown!" Lior curses while still standing at the same spot. Does he care about her at all? I may dislike Linda but it is because of her herbs that I am alive. She did her best to save me after my mates almost killed me to impress the princess they desired. So I turn and rush towards the sounds of her screams. "No! Ira it's not safe for you to . . . " Lior's shout fades before reaching my ears as I run. The forest is dense, but there are tiny paths that one has to squeeze through. Linda's screams continue to guide me as I get closer. There is however no sight of her in front of me. "Ira!" her voice calls. But it sounds like she is shouting from heaven.I look up and finally see her, hanging up side down from a rope attached to a tall tree by one leg. She was caught by a trap? What happened to her werewolf agility? She cannot reach the rope while facing downwards and she is too far up for someone like me to offer help. "I will go back get help!" I shout at h
Ira's PovI slip off King Ronen's back when we finally halt at the seashore overlooking the devil's Island. The sight of it does indeed live up to it's name. While my human eyes cannot see everything from this far, the Island is clearly full of hills made of hard rocks. There are no trees or vegetation on it, but dark clouds seems to be hovering over the place like an evil entity. "See, I didn't lie. I am now on your side, your majesties," Thumas charms as he, Linda and Lior arrive behind us.Queen Andria's miserable grunts can be heard deep in the forest. I may be human but I would have been faster on my legs. She complained about the wet earth, the uneven paths and sounds of forest insects. She must have lived in the clean and comfortable chambers of her father's palace her whole life. Who would have thought that her future would be different?I am surprised that none of her husbands have offered to carry her. Not even the angel who pulled me back when I punched her. Their actions
King Ronen's POV"Devil's Island is in the north. I think we should take that road," our queen points at the road heading west.We were idiots to even believe that she knew where to find Sincarions. She was a fancy princess not a knight. She cannot tell even basic directions. It's like all she was taught was to fake her beauty and talents. "No it isn't in the north," the witch's spy in the cage loudly differs with her. "The devil's Island is in the south. Only a few miles down the other road," he claims.Who should we believe? Our queen definitely doesn't know a thing, the other is a proven liar. We should have let Ira punch the ugly face off her head. I may have held her back, but deeply I was impressed by her feisty punch. We needed our queen to believe that she was safe from harm at least until she shows us the family of Sincarions. Now I realize that we should have left her in the cage. Why is achieving a little goal so difficult out here? I don't need to tell you that I also ha
