Kat ate her breakfast as quickly as possible. She remembered her manners and kept up with the small talk her Mom and Mark were trying to keep going.

Zander was quiet all through breakfast. He didn't bother trying to talk to the group. All Zander could think about was how his life is about to change. "How am I going to have friends and girls over and have to explain why Kat is at my house" he thought to himself. "What if Dad wants to sell our house and move in with them?" No he wouldn't do that to them. They surely have the better house.

Just as Zander was thinking that his Dad spoke up and said "Valerie is going to put her house up for sale and her and Kat will move in here."

Kat was speechless. Her Mom planned on selling her childhood home without even discussing it with her first. Valerie and Kat used to have such an open relationship. They told each other everything. Kat pushed back her chair and said "Mark it was nice to meet you but if you'll excuse me I need to go home. Mom I'll see you later." Then she turned and left without another word.
