17 Kat

I ran out the front door as fast as I could. I could hear my Mom behind me calling my name but I didn't want to hear it. I got in my car and sped off without looking back.

How could my Mom do this to me? We have been so close since my father passed. That was my childhood home with all my memories of my father. She was just going to sell it like it was nothing.

I didn't want to ruin her happiness with Mark but I had to tell her about Zander and the way he treated me. Maybe she would let me live in the house alone. I do turn 18 next month. Just until I left for college then she could do what she wanted with the house.

I pulled into the driveway, went inside, and started planning my case. My mom was a lawyer after all. She would have to be impressed with me having a defense lined up.

As I was in my room working on my defense Allie called.

"Hey girl what was all that about?" Allie asked.

"Apparently my Mom is getting married and selling our house! Can you believe she would do this my senior year. What is she thinking Allie!" I yelled

"Maybe she's happy Kat. I mean Mr. Whitmore is a total hottie."

"Yeah but Zander is a total douche." I responded. "I mean seriously Allie are you really Zanes girlfriend or did you just give it up so he'll never talk to you again?"

I knew I was being harsh but I didn't care at that moment.

"What the hell Kat! Zane and I didn't do anything last night. We just talked and cuddled. Why are you taking it out on me because you're mad at your mom?"

Allie was right. She didn't do anything wrong but did she really think once school started things would work out between her and Zane. I mean we have no mutual friends and I'm pretty sure his friends hate us.

"I'm sorry you're right. I shouldn't take it out on you." I told her. "I just don't see how this is going to work when we don't hang out with the same crowd. I mean you hate football."

"No Kat, you hate football and I just didn't want to leave you out." Allie told me. "It's not like I plan on signing up to be a cheerleader but it is our senior year we could be a little more social. Plus Logan really likes you. He couldn't stop talking about what a great girl you are. I think he really wants to get to know you better."

"Allie I gotta go. My mom just got home" and with that I hung up.

I had a lot to think about.
