Agata’s P.O.V

“I’m just using her, Veronica.” Those words struck like thunderbolt to me.

I covered my mouth in shock as I tried my best to remain still, afraid of making a sound and letting them know I was eavesdropping on them.

I saw my husband, Edward, placing his hand on his first love’s hair and stroking it gently.

“In my heart, there is only you. It has only been you.” He reassured her with a longing gaze. It was a look I have never seen on him before, not since we got married six months ago.

“If that’s the case, why did you marry her and not me?” Veronica asked as her crossed her arms, seeming displeased.

“You cannot have a child and my family is pressuring me to have an heir. I need someone to give me a son and Agata is perfect for that.”

I couldn’t hold back my tears. When Edward asked me to marry him a year ago, I thought it was because he loved me.

We met each other a year ago at a perfume event he was attending. We locked eyes and ended up having a pleasant conversation.

He invited me to have a dinner with him and our relationship gradually developed into a romantic one.

Six months ago, he proposed to me in Lake Como, on a boat in the middle of the lake and I said yes.

Only after accepting his proposal did I find out how wealthy this man actually was.

I always thought he was just working in property, but it turned out he was a real estate tycoon. His family owns multiple real estates and rented them out to wealthy clients.

My husband was a billionaire and he loved me. I thought I was hitting the jackpot and I could finally live my dream life with the man I loved.

Turns out, it was all just an illusion and that illusion shattered before my own eyes.

“After she gives birth, I will divorce her, take our son and marry you. We can be together and I will fulfil my family’s demand for an heir. It’s a perfect plan.” He reassured her as he gently kissed her forehead.

A small smile formed on her face as she took his hand and smirked.

“Hm, are you telling me you don’t care about Agata at all?” She asked.

“Me? Caring for her? Of course not. She is just some stupid and naïve girl from an ordinary background. Do you really think someone like her is suitable for me?” Edward replied with a disgusted look on his face.

Hearing those words felt like a wake up call for me. It was the first time I heard Edward’s true thought. All these times, he had always treated me well and acted so warm toward me, I had no idea he was harbouring those thoughts in his head about me.

Ah, I felt like a fool for trusting him.

“I only married her because she was easy, and pretty enough to breed a good looking heir for me. But my heart only belongs to you, you’re my first love

“Now don’t be upset anymore, okay?” He coddled her and she smiled before hugging him tightly and shutting her eyes in relieve.

“Okay, I trust you.” She replied before ending the hug and staring into his eyes.

“Once she gives birth, I want her gone. I don’t want to see Agata’s face ever again. Do you understand?” She asked him. Edward nodded and leaned in closer to her.

“I understand, don’t worry, she will be gone the moment that baby is born.”

Their faces drew closer and their lips pressed together. My husband and his first love were kissing in front of me and my heart broke into a million pieces.

I could not take it anymore, I did not want to see their lovey-dovey act anymore. I ran away from there, not caring if they noticed me. They probably wouldn’t. They were too immersed in their own world to care.

The sounds of my footsteps echoed throughout the mansion’s hallway. I immediately rushed to my room and closed the door behind me.

“Edward, how could you be so cruel to me?” I asked myself as I sat on the cold marble floor and crying my eyes out.

“I trusted you, I loved you. I thought we could start a family of our own, but you are telling me it was all a lie!? How could you!?” I yelled into the air, trying to let all my emotions out.

The bedroom has always been sound-proof, I knew no one would hear me from the outside. I had to let it all out, or I might not be alive by the next day.

We were supposed to build our perfume empire together. Now that dream disappeared in a blink of an eye.

As I was crying, I suddenly felt a kick in my stomach. I raised my head and caressed my belly gently.

“Mommy’s sorry, son. Mommy should have chosen a better father for you.” I whispered to myself. I could feel another kick and realized in that moment, I was not alone.

A realization suddenly hit me.

I was the one carrying my son in my belly. Edward had no right to take him away from me.

In that moment, I suddenly found a new courage. I wiped away my tears and rose from the floor and started heading to the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror.

I glanced down at my belly once more and touched it gently.

“Mommy will give you a better future, better than what you will have here.”

I placed my palm on the sink and stared at myself in the mirror with a look of determination.

“I’m going to divorce Edward.”

We have both moved on in life!” I tried to reason. He took a step forward and looked at me with a deep, almost possessive gaze.“You might have moved on, Agata. But I haven’t.” He suddenly placed his fingers on my chin and looked down at me.“You’re mine, Agata. I never gave you the permission to leave, and I will not let you leave my life again.” A shiver ran down my spine. Not because I was turned on by this man, but because I realized something dangerous at that moment. This man did not want to l

That’s why he didn’t recognized me.“Why don’t you wait a moment here and I’ll call him.” The security guard stated before grabbing the phone and called Edward.A few moments later, his facial expression changed and he nodded his head.“I understand.” Once the call wa

Her fingers roamed through the pages of a wedding venue magazine.I sat next to her, feeling a certain void in my chest as I saw those wedding images.“Which one do you think looks better, this sky hall or the outdoor garden?” She asked me as she shoved the magazine next to me. I hesitantly turned my gaze on her and then to the magazine.“The sky hall looks better.” I replied briefly. Veronica must have picked up how unenthusiastic I was and a frown appeared on her face.“Edward! Why do you seem so disinterested? We’re planning our dream wedding! You should be more enthusiastic!” She slammed the book on the table.“I’m sorry, Veronica, it’s just, I have a lot on my mind right now.” I told her.“What? Is it a

Do you really think I wouldn’t come on your special event?” He asked me with a teasing smile.“Gosh, and here I thought you were the honest type.” I teased him back.“Elias is waiting for you backstage.”Both of us were heading backstage and when the door opened, a cheery voice was heard.“Mama!” His little figure excitedly ran toward me. It was not Edward nor any of his man.It was a complete stranger. A man who looked like he was in his late twenties, blonde hair, blue eyes and a pale skin that looked almost translucent. After realizing he was not related to Edward whatsoever, I gasped in embarrassment.“Oh my God, I’m so sorry, I thought you were someone else.” I apologized and he gently released my hand.“It’s fine, it’s not the first time I almost got hit by a woman.” He joked before reaching out his hand.“I’m William, I’m Belinda’s son who lives at the end of the floor, near the elevator over there.” He explained.“Oh, you’re her son. I’m Agata, the new tenant here.” I shook his hand, still feeling slightly guilty over what happened.“Yes, I know. My mom called me earlier and asked me to check in on you. She said there’s a pregn

I ended up grabbing one of the beside lamp and threw it to the ground.“She can’t leave me! She can’t take the baby away from me! I will not allow her to divorce me!
