Hiding the truth.

After chatting a little more with Eric, Vanessa went to pay the surgery f*e before finally visiting her father's ward.

Mr Williams was laying on the bed when Vanessa arrived. “Vanessa honey, is that you?”.

“Yes father”. Vanessa hurriedly replied before rushing to stay by Mr Williams' side.

“I heard from the boys, you paid for my surgery?”.

“Of course I did, father. Now, all you have to do is to get better and we'll become a big happy family once again”. Vanessa announced with a smile.

“I heard from Eric that my surgery bill is super expensive”.

“Eric, you big mouth!”. Vanessa said out loudly before she turned and glared at Eric who was behind her. “What were you thinking when you told our father about the bill? What if he had a heart attack in the process?”. Vanessa questioned.

“I- I couldn't keep the truth all to myself, so I told Dad, Derek and mom”. Eric explained and immediately stopped talking when he saw the way Vanessa was glaring at him with threatening eyes.

Mrs Delilah chuckled softly before she said to her daughter, “Nessa, leave Eric alone, you know he's not good with keeping secrets”.

“Yah Mom, but I bet he's good at hiding really important secrets that are about him and Derek”. Vanessa announced and stopped talking when she noticed that she almost revealed the truth about Eric and Derek not being lawyers!.

“What secrets is Eric hiding, Nessa?”. Mrs Delilah curiously asked Vanessa while she was staring at Eric and Derek.

“Oh, it's nothing, mom…. Don't mind me at all”. Vanessa admitted and in the same moment, both Eric and Derek sighed in relief.

“I've forgotten how lovely it always is with you kids around”. Mr Williams announced before coughing.

“Honey, don't talk too much…. Your health comes first for now”. Mrs Delilah went and sat down on the bed with her husband after she had said. Soon, she started cleaning his face with a warm blue towel.

“Yeah, listen to mom, Dad. Your health matters to us”. Vanessa announced before stepping back to sit with Eric and Derek.

“Alright, alright”. Mr Williams concluded and kept quiet afterwards.

After just a few minutes, Vanessa gave some money to Derek, that's for him to buy food for everyone except for Mr Williams. Mr Williams is to be fed plain porridge, which the nurses are soon going to bring to him.

Many minutes passed before Derek returned with the food, and when he returned, he realised that the nurses had already served his father plain porridge, plus, he also saw that his father had already finished eating up the plain porridge.

“Here you go everyone”. Derek announced and went ahead to give his mom, Eric and Vanessa their own food. But immediately he did so and sat down, that was when the doctors and nurses arrived.

“It's time for Mr Williams’ surgery”. One of the doctors announced and afterwards, the nurses helped Mr Williams to the operating room.

“Don't worry Mom, your husband is going to be absolutely fine”. Vanessa approached Mrs Delilah and said to her. Soon she added, “Eat your food Mom, before it gets cold”.

Delilah didn't want Vanessa to be worried about her, so she ate only a little before she kept the food aside. Her husband was currently in the operating room, so she didn't have any appetite to eat.

“It's okay mom, I totally understand”. Vanessa announced as she saw that her Mom didn't eat half of the food.

A week later,

It has been a week since Mr Williams' surgery. After the successful surgery, Vanessa left first while the twins decided to stay with Mr Williams and Mrs Delilah for a few weeks.

“Ha, what a day”. Vanessa cleaned the sweat on her forehead as she said. It didn't take long and she checked the time on her cell phone, “8:15 pm, I'm done packing up, I should make it to Xavier's mansion before 9pm”. Vanessa announced and thinking about how she would pretend to be Xavier's wife for a whole year, weighed her down.

“If only my company didn't go bankrupt in the first place before, then I wouldn't have been in this contract marriage mess”. Vanessa announced and later added, “Mom, Dad, Derek and Eric don't know about any of this, and I pray none of them finds out”.

After making sure that she has everything necessary in her luggage, Vanessa decided to leave.

She came out of her apartment, and after she had locked the door, she headed downstairs. As soon as Vanessa arrived downstairs and was about to get into her car, she noticed the black expensive car that drove and stopped really close to her.

“What's up with this car's driver? Does he want to hit me or what?”. Vanessa muttered with a frowned face. And since the car was parked really close to her, Vanessa continued to stare at the car as she was waiting to see if anyone would come down from it.

A guy in his late thirties came down from the driver's seat.

“Madam Vanessa, please let me help you with the luggage”.

Vanessa jerked up in surprise as soon as she heard her name being mentioned by the guy.

“And who are you?”. Vanessa curiously asked while stepping backwards gradually as she was ready to run or defend herself if the guy dared to try anything funny with her.

When the guy named “Cole” noticed that Vanessa was wary of him, he announced, “Mr Xavier ordered me to bring you to the mansion”.

“Xa- Xavier really ordered you?”. Vanessa raised an eyebrow against Cole as she curiously questioned him.

“Yes ma”. Cole replied before he went ahead and collected Vanessa's luggage since he planned to put it inside the car's boot.

‘Xavier sent an expensive car and this guy to pick me up? Gosh…. Actually, Mr Xavier didn't have to do any of this, after all, isn't this just a contract marriage that would end in a year's time?’. Vanessa thought and when she saw that Cole was staring at her quietly, she simply rolled her eyes and entered the car.

Cole entered the car too and immediately drove off without delay.
