"WELL?!" I yell a bit more forcefully than I mean to. My mother turns to look at me, tears welling in her bright green eyes, making them look even more striking against her white complexion. Her messy red hair falling out of her tightly wound bun giving away the fact that she had clearly been pulling at it for some time before we left. My heart begins to thud so loudly I think everyone in the car must hear it. It feels like ages before she speaks, im praying that whatever comes out of her mouth next will make this all so much clearer. "....Cali sweetheart I am so sorry, we thought we had more time, we didn't think they would come today, we though we could protect you, if we had more time maybe we could have–-", she didn't get the chance to finish her sentence before our car was rear-ended by a large black SUV causing my mother to jerk forward. Our car spun out of control and smashed against the guard rail before being t-boned by a second vehicle and coming to an abrupt stop. My head collided with the seat in front of me, the seabelt stopping me from flying out of the window, costing me what im assuming to be broken ribs. As blood drips down my face and into my eye I can feel pain radiating from both my head and chest. The loud crunch of our car colliding with another still echoing in my head as it throbbed. I frantically look around to see my father has been knocked unconscious as has my brother next to me. My ears are ringing and my vision is blurry, but I can still make out the scene unfolding in front of me. Black vans and SUVs are scattered across the dark highway, starting file in all around us with men in tactical gear pouring out and surrounding our vehicle with guns drawn. As the ringing in my ears subsides I can hear my mother yelling at them, begging and pleading with them not to shoot us. "Mom, what is going on?" My voice cracks. The look of sadness is the last thing I see on her face before the men rush to either side of the car and rip her and I out with little care for our obvious wounds. She grabs what looks like my brother's metal water bottle from the front seat and begins hitting as many people as she can with it before one of them comes up behind her and punchs her in the back of the head sending her to the ground. Pain in my head and neck causes my head to sag as they drag me, a hand under each arm, to what looks like a large armored truck. Once we stop I hear a sound click as the doors swing open and what I see does nothing but add to the confusion of the situation. Large chains holding what I can barely make out in the dark as a large metal looking box suspended inside an otherwise empty, refridgerated truck. "Please," I hear my mother pleading with a tall broad man in a dark suit. There was something about him that just seems off, but I can't quite put my finger on it, but truthfully, nothing about this situation is normal. "Your words mean nothing Clara. You knew this day was coming and you thought you could run. Begging holds no value coming from the mouth of a pathetic traitor, and my patience has run as thin as my pity." The man sneers with disgust practically spitting as he speaks mear inches from her face. "You know better than to disrespect him and yet you thought you could outrun the destiny that was given to you. You really thought we wouldn't find you. Blood calls Clara, you should know that, but maybe after all of this time hiding you forgot, let me remind you". Who was this guy, and why did he talk like some weird medevil villan and who the hell is Clara? He stalked closer to her and a sense of dread hit me as I saw a sinister look flash acrossed his face. As he smiled I swear I saw fangs?! No, i'm just delirious from the impact and how exhausted I am. All of a sudden I heard my mother let out a muffled groan as the man plunged a large dagger looking blade through her chest and she crumpled to the ground with a loud thud.Alexander I can feel her heart pounding as I grip her wrist tighter. I pull her closer to me and feel her perfect breasts pressed against me. She smells clean like honeysuckle and spring water. Her stormy eyes meet mine as King Elirond speaks behind her, though I can not seem to catch what he is saying I am too enthralled by the woman infront of me. I have to admit hearing her distaste for me already makes me bite back a sly smile. She has fire, she seems nothing like the sycophants back home who would do anything to be in my bed. Not that they had much of a choice being that I was "blessed" as my father says. When looking into my eyes women fall madly in love with me, more like lust. The feelings aren't true and fade with time once they are no longer in my presence. I learned that the hard way one too many times, never again. Lost in thought my grip loosens, she wriggles free and stumbles backwards. "Sorry to disappoint, but I won't be marrying anyone, so you'll have to go find s
Calliope "That doesn't explain why I am here, and if you loved her so much why would you let your pregnant wife just up and leave?" The dots still weren't quite connecting and I am determined to find out. "Yes I apologize. I forgetyou know nothing of our ways. When you make a bargain with a Fae it is binding on both ends until death. If either side is broken both parties will die. Very few creatures still dare to make these deals knowing it comes at such high a cost, but in the event that a deal with struck, it can not be undone. Your mother knew this and risked everything for it. Her request was simple enough, she asked to be released for her marital bonds so she could live out her days in the human world. This angered me so I obliged under one condition, that she provide an heir and on their 20th birthday they would rule beside me. To this she agreed rather quickly. Out of spite I decided that as part of this bargain she would never be permitted to return. She asked if that was
Calliope "No, I-no that's not true. My father's name is John Thompson and you are definitely NOT him. I don't know what game you're playing or what you think you're going to get out of this lie, but I'm done." I search around the room for a weapon and land on a large carving knife on the table. I lunge for it and hold it out in front of me ready to defend myself if I have to. "Now just let me go and we can all pretend this never happened." I say, slowly backing away towards the door we came in from. The man claiming to be my father looks at me like hes disappointed with my reaction. Yeah I bet dude, I don't plan on sitting idly by while you shove lies down my throat, and to what end? What was his end game here? Whatever it is I don't give a flying fuck, mother has clearly given up on me so I guess i'll just have to save myself. "Calliope, I speak the truth. Twenty years ago your mother and I were arranged to be married to produce an heir for the throne. The previous heir died tra
Elirond This nectar wine tastes especially bitter, so I have one of the kitchen staff bring us a new bottle. Everything has to be perfect before she arrives. I hear a familiar sound coming down the hallway outside the dining hall doors that makes me stand, preparing for our guest of honor. As the doors open I see a face that looks much like my own staring back at me in a long green dress, much the same as the one her mother wore the day she left my court. Though her features are more human in nature due to the unfortunate glammer she still wears, her mothers doing im sure, there is no mistaking her place as a part of the Fae. Her bright red hair tied back in a low pony tail, with sparkling green eyes the color of the vines that cover the kingdom. Her skin a much darker tone than that of her mother or I giving her the illusion of having been out in the sun. I see on her feet the source of that once familiar sound, a pair of ratty sneakers adorn her feet making me chuckle to myself, h
Calliope"You know my mother?" I asked, confused by her familiarity. "Of course, she was my ward for many years before she married your father. She was such a wonderfully intelligent woman, with a crackling wit and more beautiful than a water lilly in Spring . I have never forgiven myself for what happened between them and I will do what I can to protect you from the same fate." She reached out her hand to caress my cheek in such a tender way tears started to spill from my eyes until I was full on sobbing from the stress of everything that had happened in the last 24 hours. She pulled me into a tight hug and it felt so comforting. Once I had finally found the ability to breathe again I found myself with one burning question. "You said you knew her when she married my father, does he know I'm here? Do you know if him and my brother are ok?" She looked like at me like she was wanting to say something, but decided against it. "Please, bathed and put on some clean clothes and meet
Calliope "She has not yet awoken, I can bring her to your room when she is properly dressed if you would like ma'am" I hear a woman say. As I open my eyes I see what looks like a large room filled with green and gold accents everywhere, the floor and walls are covered in what looks like carpeted moss. The bed im on has a large gold canopy ontop of four tall wooden posts. As I stare at the ceiling I see small lights twinkling, almost moving. The sheets are the softest thing iv ever felt and the mattress feels like a thousand clouds and I never want to leave, but eventually my curiosity wins out. I brace myself for the pain as I swing my legs over the side but im pleasantly surprised to find that I feel fine. I am grateful that whatever pain relief I was given has yet to wear off because I know when it comes back its going to feel like I was hit by a train. Once I make it to my feet I start to creep closer to the voices behind the large wooden double doors to listen more carefully.
