“Bane, there’s something I need to tell you.” My mother cut in, interrupting the interrogation between my father and myself.

He turned to my mother, “what’s going on?” he asked.

“18 years ago, I left you. I never told you the reason why.” My mother started.

“You met that other man and wanted to marry him.” My dad offered.

“Yes, but that wasn’t the only reason. I was pregnant.”

“Are you trying to tell me that you were pregnant with my baby when you left?” he asked in disbelief.

My mother nodded.

He looked over to me, tears were streaming down my cheeks.

“You’re my daughter.” He whispered.

I nodded slowly.

He closed his eyes and I saw tears streaming down his cheeks.

“You’re my daughter.” He repeated, still in shock.
