Letting Go

(Amber POV)

He snatched the key from his pocket and knelt. He grabbed my foot and removed the chain.

"You can go now," he said softly.

"What?" What did he say? Is he letting me go?

"You may go," he clarified and stood up.

"Why?"

"You are free now, you can live the life you want to live," he said seriously.

I stopped breathing as I looked at his face. I have swallowed my saliva. He went to the closet and got a big coat. He came back and wrapped a coat around me.

"It's too cold outside," he whispered wrapping me in a coat and putting a cap on my head. "Here's the card, you can use this anytime. It's really for you," he reached for the ATM.

I just looked at his serious face. "Don't you want me to be here anymore? Are you tired? Are you tired of me?" I speak weakly.
