41: Avoiding trouble
Emily was having trouble with the test and Isabelle couldn't let her be, despite the argument they had had.
Thankfully, their sitting arrangement hadn't been changed so she found a way (although it was very difficult with teachers eying them from every corner) to help Emily out.
Even worse of all, after her outburst with her parents, Emily hadn't as much as asked why she was quiet and sad or even bothered to know how things were going with her at home. All this had built up anger she had struggled to suppress so much, that it blew up in their faces that evening.

A sour feeling in the pit of Isabelle's stomach caused a rotten taste to stick to her tongue as she made her way to Mrs Douglas' office.A few minutes ago, while she was still working up the courage to go and apologize to Joel at his table, a very tall boy, whom, surpringly, was a junior — something she got to know because of his uniform shirt (which was a white shortsleeve) — had walked down to her table to inform her Mrs Douglas wanted to see her.Why she had wanted to apologise to Joel wasn't because she hadn't meant what she had said. "Don't you ever get tired of reading?" Emily asked.Isabelle spared her a quick glance to see her stab one of her fried plantains resting on top of the jollof spaghetti she had bought. The aroma of the food was inviting, making Isabelle regret the regular order she had made: a beefy burger, three bags of Cheetos and a Cola (all — except the chips, which she ate slowly — she had consumed within minutes).
