FROSTBORNE PACKâŚ
âDerek, you have to get married!â his father yelled. "Father, not nowâ he replied for the umpteenth time. Of course he's not ready.
âYou've been saying that for four years now,â his father added.
The old Alpha, Alec, was weary and needed replacement and for the fact that he has only one son, pressured him to get married in order to take over the pack. He feared that his son had interacted so much with humans that he now preferred the human world to the wolverine world.
âYou are a wolf, Derek. Do you always forget that?â His father questioned.
âI know Father,â Derek replied.
âNo, you don't. You act like you don'tâ his father added. Derek said nothing.
He hated to travel back home because of this same reason.
âYou're not saying anything to him, Marisâ Alec turned to his wife who acted like she wasn't paying attention to the father and son loggerhead.
âMarissa!â Her husband called her name in full this time. This only proves that he's already very angry.
âGive the young man more time, My Lord. Marriage is not something to be rushedâ she said. âBesides, won't it be better to get married to his mate, rather than your friend's daughter?â She added. Alec shook his head in disappointment. He wasn't expecting that from his wife. He expected her to back him up and not back their son up.
Derek mouthed a âthank you' to his mother for helping out. The room suddenly felt stuffy, he needed air. âI'll take a walkâ he said and walked out.
Immediately he was out of sight, Alec turned to his wife, âhe listens to you, Marisâ he said calmly.
âI know, and I've tried to convince him, but he's been adamant for four yearsâ she informed, âmaybe give him a little more time?â
Alec nodded knowingly. âWe have to make it happen. We can't keep letting him have his wayâ he said. âI am old and have little time to be here. I can't continue to shoulder the pack when I have such a young and vibrant son doing nothingâ he said.
âHe's not doing nothing, Alec. Your son is a successful man, you should acknowledge thatâ Marissa said.
âBut I have enough fortune for him and his descendants already. He didn't need to mingle with humans and have his head messed up. Now he doesn't know his prioritiesâ Alec said.
Marissa smiled and touched her husband's arms
âRelax, Derek is a grown man. I'm certain he knows his prioritiesâ she said with a soft smile.
Alec smiled at his wife. Her smile still has a way of calming him down even after being married to her for ages.
He held her hand and kissed it. "I hope he finds what he's looking for,â Alec said.
Marissa smiled and nodded âI hope so tooâ

Derek took a deep sigh of relief as he walked out of his parent's presence. His mother was beginning to talk to his father and that made him feel a little at peace. Unlike when they were both on his neck about him getting married. Marriage was the last thing on Derek's mind at the moment.
Though successful, he wasn't ready to commit.
He has been around humans and now understood that marriage was not everything, as the wolverine world believes.
You could get married anytime â when you're actually ready.
Being the heir to the Alpha's throne, he was obligated to get married and take over from his father years back, but Derek wasn't ready to be confined to the pack, so he declined coronation. It's been four years of back and forth.
He cared so much about his people but he also had people outside the pack, whom he cared about too.
Derek was just 28 years old, he doesn't plan to get married until he's in his 30s. The fight of getting married started when he turned 24 and has lingered for so long.
A lot of she-wolves have been brought to him, but never has he found any interesting.
He was more into human girls, though he knows he can't marry one as an Alpha. His father always stressed the need for a wolf Luna because a Luna helps her Lord secure the pack. He would always remind him that humans are weak and can't protect a pack of wolves. So he knew marriage to human was impossible but at least he can have fun with them.
His father believes he could find a wife among his Alpha friendsâ daughters.
âHumans are weak and vulnerableâ his father's words rang in his head. That's like his favorite punchline.
Derek also knows humans are weak, but doesn't think they're as vulnerable as his father always says.
âHow do you intend to balance everything?â Rowan, his friend and Beta asked, stepping into his room.
âAlways announce your presenceâ Derek reminded Rowan. Rowan mouthed an âohâ and immediately rushed back out the door.
âRowan is here to see you, masterâ he announced mockingly. He and Derek laughed at his childish act.
âI saw your parents in the living room, they seemed to be talking about youâ Rowan said
âThey always talk about me,â Derek replied.
âSo much for being an only child, huh?â Rowan mocked. âDon't mentionâ Derek sighed.
âBut man, you've got to do something. You can't keep running away forever, it's been 4 years alreadyâ Rowan said
âI know,â Derek replied. He's not much of a talker, even to his best and only friend, Rowan.
âWe're not vampires, else I would've advised you to bite a human girl and bring her home, since you don't find our girls very enticing,â Rowan said.
Derek gave him a weird stare, âdon't be ridiculousâ he said âTurning her into a werewolf automatically makes her a werewolf, so my intention of marrying a human is defeatedâ he further explained to Rowan. âWell, it's not possible anyways, we're not vampires, so forget about I said anythingâ Rowan replied.
âHow's your fiancee doing? Derek changed the subject of discussion. Rowan smiled like a baby who was just gifted lollipop, âshe's very fine. I wish you could understand thisâ he replied.
âBastard!â Derek cursed, throwing a pillow at Rowan, who caught it and laughed.

MINNESOTAâŚ
âYou're sure that's all you need?â Andaline asked her daughter. âYes, mom. That's allâ Brianna replied.
âSure? It's going to cost a lot to waybill anything to youâ Cooper, her dad added.
Brianna rolled her eyes, âdad, I'm sureâ she replied. "Let's comb your room one last timeâ her dad suggested. âOh gracious!â Brianna sighed in frustration.
âCome on! That was how you forgot your stationary the other time and remember how much we spent on thatâ her mother said, dragging her towards her room.
âI got a new one and asked you guys not the waybill the other but you didn't listenâ she defended. âIt was better than the one you got. You kept complainingâ her mother reminded her.
âDon't you need this?â Her father said, holding one of her old hoodies. âDad, that's old,â she said.
âBut it could serveâ he said
âI got a new one, remember? Besides I have up to 3 hoodies, that should serve meâ Brianna said.
Her father nodded, still snooping around her room.
âI'll be late for my flightâ she announced. âYou've got 4 hours until the flight,â her father reminded.
At this point, Brianna was frustrated. The mistake of forgetting her stationary the last time was because she was in a hurry to leave and catch up on her flight. So this time she took one whole day to pack her stuff and was sure she got everything she needed. Afterall, she was a final year college student.
Her family is a Catholic family and had suggested she attend a Catholic school. Brianna didn't want to school in Seattle, so she applied for Fordham University, New York. Her parents were against it at first, given the nature of New York, but gave in after praying a 9 day novena for her.
âLet us pray,â Cooper said after making sure she didn't forget anything. âIn the name of the father, and of the son, and of the holy Spiritâ he began
âAmenâ Brianna and Andaline chorused.
âOur help is in the name of the Lordâ
âWho made heaven and earthâ
âO Lord, hear our prayersâ
âAnd let our cries go up to youâ
âOur fatherâŚ.â

â NEW YORKâ Brianna and Derek were finally having the trip to Greece. A trip was one of her graduation packages and she chose Greece since Derek suggested it once. They were on the flight and Brianna was lying down with her head placed on Derek's thighs, eyes closed.âCan't believe it took you so long to agree to come to Greece. Do you have anything against the ancient city?â Derek asked stroking her hair. She smiled, âI have nothing against Greece of course. I just wasn't ready to fly around as much,â she replied. âAnd why was that? I have a private jet, you don't have to fly with people if that's the problemâ Derek saidBrianna shook her head, âthat's not it. I just wasn't ready,â she simply said Derek nodded like he understood, he didn't want to push it, âdo you think you're ready now?â He asked again and she nodded.âVery ready,â she said.âYou should've come with me two weeks ago though, it was boring without you,â Derek saidBrianna turned to him questionably âBut you said it w
â NEW YORKâ Everyone's head turned towards the elegant woman walking with so much grace towards themâShe looks familiarâ Derek mummured, Brianna turned to him, âyou knowâŚââMom!â Riley screamed and ran to meet her. They hugged each other.âOh!â Brianna's eyes lit up.She was worried about Riley breaking down later if her mom didn't show up.âThat's her mom?â Derek whispered into Brianna's ears and she nodded.âThough this is my first time seeing her,ââReally?â Brianna nodded. âOh my God, she's a goddess! I see where Riley took all her features from,â Brianna gushed.âOh my! Did you see her smile? I might pass out, damn! She's indeed gorgeous. I used to think it's the edit doing so much to her on TV but no, the camera doesn't even do justice to her beauty! I'm soâŚâDerek tapped on her thigh to distract her.âWhat?â She asked.âYou're wetâ he said and she blushed. âDon't let my parents hear that,â she joke-threatened. Derek chuckled.âI've seen her a couple of times though, she once m
â NEW YORKâ Brianna and Riley sat close to each other at the ceremony, talking about and giggling over almost everything.Derek mounted the podium to give his valedictory speech and all the girls started blushing and smiling helplessly. Brianna rolled her eyes at their disgusting character. It was evident that they all weren't paying attention to what he was saying. Every attention was channeled to checking him out and wondering how good he would be in bed.âDo you think he would last a lifetime in bed? Looking at him makes me wet,â a female student said, eyes fixed on Derek who looked everywhere but her.Brianna's eyes widened at such shamelessness. She adjusted in her seat feeling uncomfortable.âI bet his mouth could do one thousand better things than talking. Ugh! That tongue!â another said and Brianna couldn't help but groan angrily. She thought it was ridiculous to think such things of a man you barely knew, except on paper.âThe interesting part is, he has no girlfriend. I'm tot
â NEW YORKâ The graduation ceremony was about to begin, and parents were trooping in and taking their seats.âWe're so proud of you, Briaâ Brianna's mother said, holding her hands with almost teary eyes.âI've always known that, Mom, and I appreciate you,â she turned to her father and said âboth of you,â then opened her arms for a hug.âMe tooâ her father said and they all had a family hug.âYou've done well too, Riley. I'm sure your parents are proud,â Andaline said to Riley. Brianna was about to stop her mother from saying more when Riley waved it off and smiled sweetly at Andaline âThank you so much,â she replied Brianna had earlier told her parents to try not to dwell too much on Riley's parents or ask her things about them, or act too clingy towards her around Riley, but clearly, her mother doesn't listen.âRiley, I'm proud of you. Finishing college isn't for the faint of heart. Come hereâ Cooper said thoughtfully, surprising Brianna. He gave Riley a big hug and whispered, âThan
â NEW YORKâ âI didn't know the suites in Leister Home were so cheap,â Brianna's mother said, knowingly as they settled in their hotel room. Brianna didn't say a word. Both parents just arrived in New York for her graduation.Leister Home was the name of Frostborneâs hotels, worldwide. Derek had booked the suite for them but Andaline insisted they pay, so Derek ran them a discount though they had no idea but Brianna. It was one of New Yorkâs most exquisite hotels and Andaline thought it wouldn't be right to spend some days there and not pay for the services.âI thought it would be super expensive and outâŚâ Brianna rolled her eyes, she knew what her mother was about to say. âJust spill itâ Brianna urgedâMr Leister is so rich, don't you think?â She asked Brianna who almost rolled her eyes again. Of course, he's so rich.âI don't think, Mom. I knowâ Brianna said confidently and her mother gasped âI think he's a great guy,â her father said and nudged his daughter playfully. Brianna turned
â NEW YORKâ âSoon-to-be graduate,â Derek smiled as he called Brianna immediately as she entered the office. Brianna blushed. It was two days to Brianna's graduation. Derek signaled the previous weekend and hasn't seen her until now.He signaled her with his index finger to come closer, she walked to his table and sat down.âCome over hereâ he pointed to the space in front of him. âDon't be naughtyâ Brianna said with a smile when she realized what Derek was about to do to her.âOf course!â he smirked. Brianna smiled knowing that face, then went over anyway and stood before him, looking down at him. He wrapped his hands around her waist and she smiled at him. She loves it when he does that.âYou promised not to be naughty,â she said with a smile. Derek kissed her waistline, âI did,â he mumbled almost inaudibly. He lifted his face to look at her, âHow ready are you?â He asked. Brianna did some thinking, not sure what exactly he was asking then replied, âI think I'm fully ready,â she laugh
