Chapter 8 Not Daring to Make a Sound

As soon as Jean stepped through the doors, she felt dizzy.

Mrs. Jones was doing her chores. She noticed Jean and immediately came up and supported her so she wouldn't fall. "Are you feeling unwell, Miss?"

Mrs. Jones had accompanied Jean to the Larson family when she married Tyler. Even though she was supposed to help her, she was a spy sent to keep an eye on Jean.

Dorothy had never trusted her even though she was the one who had told her to impersonate Joyce and marry Tyler.

Jean pulled away from Mrs. Jones and said coldly, "I'm fine." She sounded calm and collected, as she always did.

Mrs. Jones looked at her pale face and smiled awkwardly. "You don't look well, Miss. Is it because you're about to have your period?"

Jean froze, but she soon regained her composure. She hadn't expected Mrs. Jones to keep track of her period for the past three years.

"Maybe. My stomach feels a little upset. I'm going upstairs to rest. Let me know when dinner's ready."

After saying that, Jean left Mrs. Jones and went upstairs, thinking hard.

She couldn't let Mrs. Jones stay by her side any longer. Otherwise, she would definitely expose her pregnancy.

Jean took a deep breath and entered her bedroom. Her gaze landed on the bedside table, which had clearly been disturbed.

Mrs. Jones had a bad habit of stealing. Jean had found out about this quite some time ago. However, as she hadn't taken anything important, Jean had always overlooked it.

Now that she needed a reason to kick Mrs. Jones out of the house, this was a great opportunity.

Jean took a deep breath and went out of her bedroom. She stood at the top of the stairs and said to the maids working downstairs, "Where is Mr. Anders? I need to speak to him."

Albert Anders quickly arrived at the living room, where he saw Jean sitting on the sofa, looking angry. All of the servants of Oakside Villa gathered in front of her.

"Madam, you were looking for me?" Albert had never been through such a situation before. He was confused.

Jean glanced at him with anger in her eyes. "I lost an important piece of jewelry. I need you to find out who cleaned or went into my room today as soon as possible."

Albert frowned. His expression darkened as well.

Stealing was a serious matter at Oakside Villa. As a family of high status, the Larson family had strict rules when employing household staff.

Stealing small items was not a serious problem, but stealing valuable items was. Therefore, they couldn't allow a thief in their midst.

"I will investigate this immediately." He turned to a gardener and said, "Call the security guards at the door to search these people immediately."

All the staff looked at each other.

Mrs. Jones stood beside Jean, looking nervous. "Miss, I don't think Mr. Larson would be happy you're causing such a commotion. If it's not anything important, just let it slide."

Jean looked at her nervous expression and smiled. "Don't worry, Mrs. Jones. I'm sure Tyler wouldn't say anything. In fact, he might do it himself, seeing as someone broke his rules. Mr. Anders practically watched him grow up. He knows how he is as well."

Albert nodded. "No matter what was stolen, I cannot allow a thief at Oakside Villa. Thieving should not be tolerated around Mr. Tyler."

Hearing this, Mrs. Jones fell silent. She didn't dare to make another sound.
