Ariana’s POV

The drive to Southbridge felt like a blur.

Alex barely spoke the entire way which was nothing unusual but somehow the silence today felt heavier, stretched thin between us.

He worked through emails on his phone while I pretended to review the project documents on my tablet.

In reality, my mind kept replaying Jessica’s words like a stuck record.

I hated that I still cared at all.

By the time the car pulled into the construction site, dust clouding around the tires, I was grateful for the distraction.

Southbridge was huge—an expanse of steel frames, excavators, temporary cabins, and workers in bright vests moving across the open grounds like pieces on a chessboard.

The cold morning wind carried the scent of sand and diesel.

Alex stepped out first, his presence somehow cutting through the chaos like a blade. I followed, clutching my iPad, reminding myself to look composed, steady, professional.

“ALEX!”

The shout boomed before I even found its source.

A tall guy jogged tow

Maya’s POVI didn’t mean to watch the interview. That was the lie I told myself as the video was on repeat on my phone, with volume low, my heart already pounding like I’d just done something reckless and irreversible, which technically, I had.Ariana filled the screen. She looked calm, composed and was soft-spoken in that infuriating way that made people lean in instead of question her. She sat beside Alex Sterling like she belonged there, like the space between them was earned.I scoffed loudly.“Oh, give me a break,” I muttered, curling my fingers around the edge of the couch. The reporter asked her how it began. Ariana answered like she was telling a bedtime story. As if she hadn’t detonated my life with one carefully placed lie.A resort in a charity retreat. It had no sparks and no drama.I laughed again, sharp and bitter. She was good. I’d give her that. She always had been. Ariana had a way of sounding sincere even when she wasn’t saying the whole truth. Even when she was edit

Ariana’s POV The Crestline office didn’t look like a battlefield. That was the first lie I told myself. It was made of glass and white walls. It had minimalist furniture, soft lighting. Everything designed to make you forget that reputations had died here.Alex’s hand brushed mine as we were led into the interview room. It was a reminder. You’re not alone. The reporter stood when we entered. Mid-thirties, sharp eyes, a smile that knew how to ask questions without looking like questions.“Alex Sterling, Ariana Cross,” she said. “I’m Lena Moore. Thank you for agreeing to this.”Agreeing? Like we’d chosen this freely. We sat down on the chair which she gestured to. Alex moved slightly toward me while his PR team hovered just outside the glass walls, they were visible but silent.Lena clicked her recorder on.“Let’s start simply,” she said. “People want to know how this began.”Alex looked at me, tell me to go ahead. It was a permission.I took a breath. “We met at a resort.”Lena’s ey

Ariana’s POVAlex woke before I did.I knew it not because I felt him move but because the space around me felt different. His breathing changed first, deep and steady becoming lighter, more alert. The arm around my waist tightened briefly, like a reflex, before loosening again. I stayed still, eyes closed, pretending to sleep because whatever this was, I wasn’t ready to break it yet.Morning light filtered through the curtains, pale and unassuming. It painted the living room in soft edges, turning the couch and coffee table into gentler versions of themselves. For a moment, I forgot where I was. Then the weight of his arm, the warmth of his chest at my back, reminded me.He leaned down, pressing a kiss to my temple.“Morning,” he murmured.I opened my eyes slowly. “Morning.”“How’d you sleep?”I considered lying out of habit, then decided against it. “Like I wasn’t being chased.”His quiet laugh vibrated through me. “Good.”I stretched, bones protesting softly, then tilted my head

Ariana’s POV The drive to Alex’s house felt quieter than the one to the park.Streetlights slid across the windshield in soft, rhythmic patterns, and the city blurred into something gentler, like it had finally agreed to lower its voice. I leaned my forehead against the cool glass of the passenger window, cotton-candy sweetness still clinging to my fingers, the echo of the Ferris wheel’s slow turn lingering in my bones.Alex didn’t ask where I wanted to go.He just drove and somehow, that felt like the greatest kindness of all. When we pulled into his driveway, the house glowed warm and steady, lights on like it had been expecting us. Alex parked, cut the engine, and glanced over.“Movie?” he asked. “Or silence?”I considered it. My body was tired in that deep way that wasn’t about sleep, but my mind…..my mind still buzzed and was restless.“Movie,” I said. “But something familiar. I don’t want any plot twists.”A corner of his mouth lifted. “I know exactly the one.”Inside, he took

Alex’s POVI saw her before she saw me.She was walking down the sidewalk with her coat half-buttoned, head slightly bowed like she was bracing against more than just the cold. The late afternoon light caught in her hair, dull instead of warm, and something in the way she moved…careful, inward, made my chest tighten.Ariana always walked like she was ready to bolt. Today, she looked like she’d already been running.I pulled the car over without thinking, hazard lights blinking uselessly as I watched her through the windshield. She stopped at the curb, staring across the street like she couldn’t remember where she was headed next. For a second, she looked very small. That was it. Decision made.I got out of the car.“Ariana.”She flinched when she heard her name, shoulders tensing before she turned. Her eyes landed on me and widened, surprise flickering into something softer—and then quickly buried.“Alex,” she said. “I didn’t know you were—”“I wasn’t,” I said. “I just got lucky.”S

  • Accidentally Married To My Billionaire Boss   Chapter 49: The Things Blood Doesn’t Forgive

Ariana’s POVThe coffee shop smelled burnt and bitter, like the kind of place that prided itself on being honest rather than good.I chose it on purpose. It was a neutral ground and public. Somewhere Maya couldn’t raise her voice without an audience, couldn’t twist my arm or corner me the way she used to when we were younger. Somewhere I could leave if I needed to—because lately, I needed exits more than explanations. She had called earlier and told me she needed to see me and I agreed to see her. I arrived early and took a seat near the window, wrapping my hands around a mug I hadn’t tasted yet. Outside, the street hummed with afternoon traffic, people moving with purpose. I envied that. The certainty of knowing where you were going.I was still learning how to breathe without my world tilting.Three months pregnant. The thought hovered at the back of my mind like a bruise. My palm rested lightly against my stomach beneath the table, not protectively, not yet. More like I was chec
