Chapter Thirty Seven

Aria’s POV

The walls pulsed with the echo of alarms as we ran. My boots hit the floor like gunshots, my pulse thudding in rhythm. But it wasn’t the sound that haunted me, it was her face.

Mine.

Even now, in the dim corridors and flickering red lights, I could see her mouth forming those words through the glass:

This isn’t over.

Julian pulled me left into an unmarked stairwell. We didn’t speak, just climbed, breathless, shoulder to shoulder, like if we stopped we’d drown.

On the third landing, he paused, turned to me, his chest rising and falling hard.

“Are you okay?”

I nodded. Lie.

“You?”

He didn’t answer. Just stared at me like he wasn’t sure who I was anymore. Hell, I wasn’t sure either.

We moved again, one more flight, then out into the cold night through a utility exit that slammed behind us like a final sentence. The sky was bruised with smoke. Sirens wailed from somewhere downtown. The world kept spinning, indifferent.

I bent over, hands on my knees, trying

  • In Lust with my Sexy Boss   The Devil in the Room

Chapter Ninety SevenAria’s POVThe air in the room thickened, pressing against my chest like invisible hands. Every sound outside, the scrape of gravel, the distant clang of the gate, the heavy thud that reverberated through the walls, felt magnified, like the house itself was holding its breath.Julian moved with precision, every step silent but weighted, like he was both hunting and hunted. His broad shoulders tensed beneath his shirt, muscles shifting like coiled steel. He glanced at the control panel near the door, his jaw tightening when the screen flashed red.“Breached perimeter.”My stomach dropped.I clutched the counter to steady myself. “Julian…”He held up a hand. Wait. But waiting was impossible when my body was screaming to either run or cling to him. I wanted answers. I wanted to scream. But most of all, I wanted to understand why fear looked so foreign on Julian Blackwell’s face. The silence stretched, and then..CRASH.Glass exploded at the far end of the house. My s

  • In Lust with my Sexy Boss   A Shadow at the Door

Chapter Ninety Six Aria’s POVThe word still echoed in my mind even though I hadn’t heard it. I’d only seen the way Julian’s body changed, rigid, braced, his shoulders tight like a predator poised to strike. Whatever flashed on that screen, whatever ghost had crawled out of the darkness, it had shaken him.And nothing shook Julian Blackwell.“Julian,” I whispered, my fingers tightening on his shirt, the cotton twisting in my grip. “What did you see?”For a long, unbearable moment, he didn’t answer. His jaw flexed, his breathing harsh, and I knew, knew he was burying something so heavy it threatened to crush us both. Finally, he turned. And in his eyes, I didn’t see the sharp, unbreakable boss I had known, or even the man who had kissed me like I was his salvation. I saw terror. Not for himself. For me.“It’s him,” he said, voice hoarse, nearly breaking.“Who?” My throat dried. “Julian, you’re scaring me, who?”His hand came up, cupping the back of my neck, forcing me to look at him,

  • In Lust with my Sexy Boss   Ghosts of the Past

Chapter Ninety FiveJulian’s POVI didn’t sleep. Couldn’t.Aria’s breaths were steady, soft against my chest, but my mind was a battlefield. Every time I closed my eyes, the words flashed behind them, taunting, searing: She’s mine. The handwriting wasn’t random. I knew it. The angles, the sharp slashes, it was the same scrawl that had haunted classified reports and backroom deals in the underworld of my father’s empire.I’d buried that name long ago. Or maybe I’d only convinced myself I had.The shadow wasn’t just a threat. It was personal.I shifted, careful not to wake Aria, and slipped from the bed. Her hand twitched against my arm, clutching at air where I’d been, and it nearly undid me. But I had to move. I had to be sure.In the office, I opened the drawer I swore I’d never touch again. Inside, beneath false files and decoy documents, was a slim black folder. My father’s. My inheritance of poison. My hands tightened as I flipped it open, and there it was, scrawled across the mar

  • In Lust with my Sexy Boss   Eyes in the Dark

Chapter Ninety FourJulian’s POVAria’s trembling still echoed against my chest long after I’d put the gun away. The way her fingers clutched at me, it was a grip born of terror, not weakness. She believed what she saw. Which meant I had to believe it too.I pressed a kiss to her temple, brief, steadying for her and for me before I gently pried her hands from my shirt.“Stay here,” I said again, voice low, steel-wrapped.Her eyes searched mine, wide, pleading, but she nodded. Good girl.I crossed to the control panel recessed into the wall near my study. My fingers moved with calm precision as I keyed in the override, the system recognizing my biometrics instantly. The massive screen blinked to life, split into a dozen live camera feeds of the penthouse.Every angle. Every corner.Empty.But that was the thing about ghosts in the glass. They didn’t show themselves until they wanted to be seen.I rewound the footage, scrubbing back to the exact time Aria said she saw it. My muscles coi

  • In Lust with my Sexy Boss   Through the Glass

Chapter Ninety ThreeAria’s POVThe city stretched beyond the penthouse windows in a glittering sprawl, a living tapestry of light and noise. But to me, it felt distant, separate. Like I was sealed inside a glass cage.Julian had left hours ago to “make inquiries.” His words, clipped and lethal, had curled around me like smoke before he vanished into the night. He hadn’t said where. He rarely did. But the hard gleam in his eyes had promised that someone, somewhere, would regret what happened to me.Now, in the quiet of the penthouse, the silence pressed too heavily against my ears.I wrapped Julian’s shirt tighter around me, it smelled of him, like cedar and heat, like safety. My bare feet padded across the polished floors toward the tall windows. The city should have soothed me. Instead, my reflection caught my gaze, pale and fragile against the darkness outside. And for a split second, I could have sworn… there was another shadow standing just behind mine.I spun around.Nothing.Th

  • In Lust with my Sexy Boss   The Echo of Fear

Chapter Ninety TwoAria’s POVThe room was too quiet.I paced by the tall windows of Julian’s penthouse, arms folded tight across my chest, staring out at the city lights that usually made me feel alive. Tonight, they only looked like distant fires flickering in a world I couldn’t touch. My reflection in the glass was pale, restless. My skin prickled, as though something unseen pressed against it.Julian had told me to stay here. To wait. His voice had been calm, steady, the kind of voice that could silence a storm. But beneath it, I’d sensed the current. Tension. Rage. Something he hadn’t wanted me to feel. And I hated waiting.Every creak of the building, every sigh of the wind against the glass set my nerves jangling. My body betrayed me, palms damp, throat dry, stomach hollow with dread. I pressed my hand against the cool glass, willing the city to whisper back, to tell me everything was fine. But it wasn’t.I knew it wasn’t.Julian had been gone too long.I turned away from the w
