My husband kept making me see a psychiatrist. He said I had delusional disorder and kept imagining I was a corporate heiress. He once grabbed me by the throat and screamed that my parents had died in a car accident years ago. To cure my "illness" and stop him from worrying about me, I took my medication on time and tried to forget those "delusions". One day, I was handing out flyers on the street when a Rolls-Royce stopped in front of me. The driver respectfully opened the door. My father, who had only ever appeared in my "delusions", stepped out, pain written across his face. "The one million dollars I transfer to your account every month is supposed to let you see what life is like. Why are you out here putting yourself through this?" One million dollars? I could hear my ears ring. What exactly had my husband been hiding from me when he said he had spent all our savings treating my illness?

In My Restless Dream Chapter 9
I looked down at Kyle, my eyes cold. "Where's the diary?"The smile on Kyle's face froze. He reacted quickly and crawled up from the floor, putting on a smug look. "You want the diary? Sure."He rubbed his hands together and named an outrageous price. "Give me a million dollars. No, ten million! Arrange a new identity for me and send me overseas. Only then will I give you the diary. I promise I'll never show up in front of you again!"He thought he had found my weakness, but I simply laughed. "Kyle, I think you've misunderstood something."I stepped forward and took the diary from his hand. "What makes you think you're in a position to negotiate with me?"I tore the diary to pieces right in front of him, page by page. Then I threw them into the burn barrel beside me. Flames leaped up and swallowed the scraps of paper instantly.Kyle stared with eyes wide, as if he was overwhelmed by the shock. "You... What are you doing? Are you insane?""Insane?" I looked at him, my smile

I had Dane contact the boss running the biggest illegal gambling den in that run-down neighborhood, a man called Little Vinnie.I gave Little Vinnie a sum of money and had him set a trap to lure Kyle in.Little Vinnie was sharp. Once he took the money, he handled things quickly. First, he sent someone to approach Kyle "by chance" and tell him there was a fast way to make money. A desperate man like Kyle took the bait without much effort. They then took Kyle into Little Vinnie's gambling den.At first, Little Vinnie let him win a few small rounds, giving him a taste of success. Once Kyle tasted success, he grew bolder and the stakes got higher. He quickly lost all the money he and his mother had made collecting recyclables. After losing to the point he couldn't accept it, he started borrowing from loan sharks. Little Vinnie "generously" lent him the money. With a terrifyingly high interest rate, of course. In less than three days, Kyle owed Little Vinnie more than one hundre

The divorce went smoothly. Kyle's leg was broken, and he was lying in the hospital, abandoned and pathetic. When my lawyer threw the divorce papers and a thick stack of evidence in front of him, he didn't even have the strength to fight back. The evidence detailed how he had drugged me over the past three years, transferred my assets, and kept a mistress on the side.Any one of those things would have been enough to destroy his reputation and put him in prison. He knew better than to fight it and signed, leaving him with nothing.Legally, he and I had nothing to do with each other anymore, but I knew this wasn't over. What I wanted was not just a divorce… I wanted him to pay for everything he had done to me.After Kyle was discharged from the hospital, he and Jessica were evicted by their landlord and ended up on the streets. He called me, begging me to take them in.I didn't answer.Later, he somehow found Dad's company and waited downstairs every day, wanting to see me. My

I put everything I had into that slap on Kyle's face. His face swelled right before my eyes, and blood seeped from the corner of his mouth. The slap left him stunned. He covered his face, staring at me blankly.Winnie was terrified, too. She curled up in the corner of the couch, trembling."You… Aren't you..." Kyle's voice shook. "Aren't you sick?""Sick? Didn't you cure me of it?" I smiled coldly. He finally realized this had all been a trap. A trap that I had set just for him. His face changed color, from pale to even more pallid. In the end, he collapsed to the floor as if he had lost all his strength."No... Impossible!" he muttered to himself, unable to accept the truth. Everything he had worked so hard to build, the control he had been so proud of, all collapsed in that single moment.I couldn't be bothered to look at him again, and I walked over to the oil painting. The painting showed my mom's favorite sunflowers. It had once hung in my bedroom, and it was the fir

I had the driver take me to Kyle and Winnie's so-called "love nest".Once I was at the large apartment downtown, I rang the doorbell.Winnie opened the door, dressed in a silk nightgown. When she saw me, she froze. "Who are you looking for?"I could see a hint of wariness in her eyes. I smile

Once outside, I was too scared to get a cab, so I ran through the back alley until I was completely exhausted.I stopped at a payphone and dialed the number I had memorized last night. The phone rang for a long time before someone finally picked up. "Hello, who is this?"It was Dane's voice, cal

It was late at night, and Kyle was already fast asleep. I quietly got out of bed and took his phone. It needed his fingerprint, so I used his.For three years, I had been cut off from the outside world. No phone, limited internet access, no way for me to contact anyone. He said it was for my own
