I curled up on the couch, my face against my knees. My father's words kept replaying in my mind. One million dollars.Every month.I did not have any delusional disorder. I was just a fool someone had locked in a cage. The lock clicked softly. My husband, Kyle Weiss, was home.He took off his coat elegantly. When he saw me, his brow furrowed on instinct. "Aria, why are the lights off again? The doctor said you need more sunlight."He came over and placed his palm on my forehead, his voice gentle. "Are you feeling sick today? Did you take your medicine on time?"I looked up and met his concerned eyes. This man… I had loved him for five years.Three years ago, he said my mental state was getting unstable right after we got married and took me to a psychiatrist. The doctor then diagnosed me with severe delusional disorder. From that day on, my world shrank to this apartment and the white pills Kyle brought home.He said my parents had died in a car accident when I was in

Once outside, I was too scared to get a cab, so I ran through the back alley until I was completely exhausted.I stopped at a payphone and dialed the number I had memorized last night. The phone rang for a long time before someone finally picked up. "Hello, who is this?"It was Dane's voice, calm and distant as usual. I opened my mouth, but no sound came out. After a while, Dane said, "Hello? If you don't speak, I'm hanging up.""Mr. Smith... It's me." My voice was so hoarse I barely recognized it.The other end went silent. A full half minute passed before Dane spoke again, his voice barely shaking. "Ms. Jones? Is that you? Where are you now?"My tears rolled down my cheeks. "Mr. Smith, I..."I gave him the address, then crouched down on the ground and couldn't say another word.Less than twenty minutes later, a convoy of black cars pulled up in front of me. Dane got out of one of the cars and quickly walked toward me. When he saw the state I was in, his eyes reddened.

I had the driver take me to Kyle and Winnie's so-called "love nest".Once I was at the large apartment downtown, I rang the doorbell.Winnie opened the door, dressed in a silk nightgown. When she saw me, she froze. "Who are you looking for?"I could see a hint of wariness in her eyes. I smiled and said, "I'm here to see Kyle."Winnie's expression shifted, and she scanned me up and down. "You... Who are you?""His wife," I said. The moment I said those words, I could clearly see the color drain from her face. She stood there stunned for a long time before scoffing, as if she had just heard the biggest joke in the world. "His wife? His wife is some lunatic he has kept locked up at home for years. Do you even know who you're impersonating?"It looked like Kyle had told her plenty about my "glorious past". I wasn't angry, though. I simply leaned against the doorframe and watched her calmly."Really? Then why don't you call him and ask whether that lunatic wife of his looks

The divorce went smoothly. Kyle's leg was broken, and he was lying in the hospital, abandoned and pathetic. When my lawyer threw the divorce papers and a thick stack of evidence in front of him, he didn't even have the strength to fight back. The evidence detailed how he had drugged me over the past three years, transferred my assets, and kept a mistress on the side.Any one of those things would have been enough to destroy his reputation and put him in prison. He knew better than to fight it and signed, leaving him with nothing.Legally, he and I had nothing to do with each other anymore, but I knew this wasn't over. What I wanted was not just a divorce… I wanted him to pay for everything he had done to me.After Kyle was discharged from the hospital, he and Jessica were evicted by their landlord and ended up on the streets. He called me, begging me to take them in.I didn't answer.Later, he somehow found Dad's company and waited downstairs every day, wanting to see me. My

I looked down at Kyle, my eyes cold. "Where's the diary?"The smile on Kyle's face froze. He reacted quickly and crawled up from the floor, putting on a smug look. "You want the diary? Sure."He rubbed his hands together and named an outrageous price. "Give me a million dollars. No, ten million! Arrange a new identity for me and send me overseas. Only then will I give you the diary. I promise I'll never show up in front of you again!"He thought he had found my weakness, but I simply laughed. "Kyle, I think you've misunderstood something."I stepped forward and took the diary from his hand. "What makes you think you're in a position to negotiate with me?"I tore the diary to pieces right in front of him, page by page. Then I threw them into the burn barrel beside me. Flames leaped up and swallowed the scraps of paper instantly.Kyle stared with eyes wide, as if he was overwhelmed by the shock. "You... What are you doing? Are you insane?""Insane?" I looked at him, my smile
