"Come in."

Liam ushered him in, ignoring his previous words. He had only walked halfway into the living room when Steve held his arm.

"Why are you mad at me?"

Liam turned, Steve's grip still on his arm. "I'm not mad at you."

"Don't lie to me," Steve replied him. "You've been acting different."

"Doesn't mean I'm mad at you."

"Then what is it, Liam?"

He held Steve's hand. "Regarding the text messages, I'm sorry I didn't reply them. I was wrapped up with different things I didn't notice," he said. He was never going to admit the truth to him. "And I really really wanted to ask how you were. I wanted to know how you were fairing. If you and your dad had made up or not. I really wanted to but I know I didn't. I'm sorry."

"It's fine," Steve squeezed his hands. "I'm sorry too. About you and Miley-"
