Esma’s pov
“Will I get everything here?” I asked the old man in the glasses sitting on his desk reading a rom-com. Probably When Kattie met Cassidy by Camellia Pierce. He looked up from his book annoyingly but soon it resolved into nervousness as soon as he sensed I was the Alpha.
“Ye… yes, Ms?” he stumbled on words and I already knew I was intimidating him. I hardly intimidate anyone, if it wasn’t for the alpha blood coercing in my veins, nobody feared me.
“Rockwood.” I said too curtly much to my dislike. He nodded and bowed at the same time and closed his book finally, not before putting a bookmark in it. jeez.
“What book exactly you are looking Ms. Rockwood?” he asked way too politely, his behaviour nothing like the one two minutes ago.
“Do you have by any chance book on the Curses? Like the ancient folklores, myths, curses and their cures?” I asked still exploring the royal library. It was the library since the time of King Lycaon. He was the one who built this when he reigns which was technically thousands of years ago. Everything have changed since then.
“Umm… I don’t know there has to be one as per my knowledge, but.” He stopped midway.
I turned to look at him and raised my one eye-brow, trying to intimidate him more.
“But?”
“Nothing we need to be worry of, it’s just nobody had asked for the books like them in ages and I fear with the passage of time they are lost for good in the library.” He said hesitatingly.
Shit. I should know it; the library was good for nothing except for rom-coms.
“So, I have travelled exactly 300 miles for nothing?” my blood boiled and the librarian shook visibly in fear. He took several steps backwards before he remembers something.
“I could manage something. I can’t give you the exact book you are asking me right now, but I have something else.” With that he disappeared from my eyes only to return with a much older book in his hands.
“Umm. Ms. Rockwood, I will find that book for you by the earliest until then, you can issue this book from the library.” He handed me the book which was much heavier than it looked.
I turned the book to read it’s title. How to summon the gods. I sighed, although I know it was not of my use I nodded and the librarian visibly relaxes. Something about him didn’t click me. I mean he was fearing me and all but he looked obvious to everything at the same time.
“Please lend us your number and I will contact you as soon as I find the book you desires.” He said formally and this time he smiles like the salesman who manages to broke the deal. He quickly walked back towards his desk and I sighed again. It was whole day journey by the car to reach here, at least a look around would worth it.

“What are you doing here?” I turned towards the owner of the voice. Diana was standing on the door way looking absolutely stunning as she always do, flawlessly.
“Nothing.” I replied and started reading the book again. Diana sighed and walked towards me and stand a few inches apart. I looked at her from the corner of my eye and found her reading the same page I was reading.
Her face was straight giving nothing away and soon she walked before me. “Where did you get this?” she asked, her voice laced with curiosity. I can’t tell if she was really asking out of curiosity or suspicion. She looked confused.
“Basement.” I lied. Our pack was one of the oldest werewolf packs in the world and being the alpha had its perks. My father had the huge library of all the books related to the super naturals, whether they are witches, warlocks or vampires or even the gods.
Although, it had nothing in comparison to the books of library but still it was a valuable collection. At least in my father’s eyes.
“But why are you reading this book? Do you want to summon some god? She asked finally and I know she was trying to enquire if I was planning something.
“I don’t know, I was bore so I picked something to read.” I lied again turning the page.
“I told you this won’t help him. or you.” She said and this time there was a ping of disappointment on her face. I closed the book and threw it on the ground. The book was old just like the information it promised to provide me.
Diana was right. I have been reading this book from the last five hours and either I have understood nothing or nothing was relevant to me. It had all the information related to all the gods and their powers and how to summon them but some of their pages were either too damaged or their ink was got too light with the time.
Also, it was like they were being updated from time to time because their inks were different and so does the hand-writings. Some were written in Arabic, some pages in Greek, the earliest was written in the Latin.
“Where is August?” I asked trying to change the topic. Diana was going to be a part of our pack with the upcoming full moon. It have been a month since August and I get to know that she could be accepted in our pack by performing the blood ceremony.
Blood ceremony is the most crucial ritual when we talked about the strength and power of a pack. with the blood ceremony alphas could bind themselves or any new member to their pack making them the part of our pack.
I remembered the meeting I attended in the no-man’s land. Blood ritual didn’t stop there only. It was done as an alternative, More like a weapon. With the blood ritual, alphas not only could tie themselves, they shared their equal strength and vigour of their pack members. Alphas can’t die.
It is still hard to make me believe that.
“August had been keeping things from me.” Diana pouted and I know I have been successful in diverting the spotlight from me to her.
“Why would you say that? As much as I know, that idiot can’t keep anything from anyone and especially not from you.” I shake my head and chuckled. Diana furrowed her eyes but didn’t say anything.
“He know, I can’t see his vision. I am telling you Emmy he is keeping things from me.” she said and almost whined. I smiled and put my hands on her shoulders.
“Maybe he is just nervous, how the pack will react when they finds out one sexy witch is their beta-female.”
Diana blushed and slapped my hands away from her. she is the best thing that could happen to my brother seeing his bad taste in the girls. We have bonded fast in the short span of time when I visited her for the first time in Reed’s castle.
I was really impressed from her, impressed will be an understatement, I was smitten by her. she is so young but exceptionally wise for her age. I have always seen her happy and smiling and now with August she is just as much as happy as I was with… my face fell remembering the man I found was my mate.
“Hey, what happened?” Diana asked slowly and pulled my face gently to make me look into her eyes. A single drop threatened to escape my eye; I wiped it before it could fall but Diana had already seen it.
“What about Dumeny?” she asked. She was equally concerned about me. Dumeny was a family. A friend I could trust blindly. If I haven’t found Reed, things could have been different. Maybe. And my father like him. he was just like a second son to him.
“He had gone for some work in his pack. will return tomorrow only.” I said and remember what Dumeny said.
“You don’t have to say anything, I know you are confused. You have found your mate, whatever you are feeling is the mate-bond’s doing.” I know, this can’t true, what me and Reed shared was much bigger and deeper than the mate-bond. or maybe that’s what I felt at least.
“You are missing him, don’t you?” she asked and I know she was missing him too. I didn’t say anything and looked away from her, tackling her questioning gaze.
“I don’t know. I missed him, maybe more than I know. After what he had done to me, I still missed him like hell. I think I like him; I hope I love him.” Diana smiled knowingly and I narrowed my eyes.
“Okay, coming to that. Tomorrow morning, I am going to his pack for some work.” Before I could say anything, she cut me mid-sentence.
“Don’t worry, I will be here before anyone notices I am missing.” She said and smile proudly. I shake my head and soon we started laughing together.
“Let’s get back to the room, before your idiot mate plans to start a quest to find you.” I said and laughed some more.
Diana started walking back to the room, “Just don’t do something stupid Emmy. You know I am watching.” Diana said and made ‘I am watching’ gesture with her hands.
“I am also coming but just let me put this book back on the shelf.” I stretched to grab the book but before I could close it, my eye catches a line.
“How to summon the moon goddess.”
Esma’s pov*thudI groaned as I tried to open my eyes to the loud noise coming back from the backgeround. The sleep was heavy in my eyes.*thud“Fucking dammit! Who the heck is making ruckus in the middle of the night?” I groaned as I rubbed my eyes. There was nothing in my room as I finally able to pen my eyes. The wind was blowing past from the side of the window. The curtains were flowing in the air as I remember I was the one who left the window open.I sighed as I finally sit up and looked for my slippers. I walked towards the window. The moon was surprisingly bright today. the moonlight fall on my face the window brushed past my cheek. it was soothing, and I almost forget the reason of waking up.I closed the window and sighed. Just when I was about to turn back to sleep, my eyes fall on the figure standing in the middle of the ground downstairs. one look and I was already sure who it was. What was Dumeny doing in the middle of the night? Dumeny stood there on the ground at one
Esma’s pov“We have arrived.” Dumeny said as I turned my head to look ahead of us. There was a huge metal gate welcoming us directly to Dumeny's house.“Welcome to the mountain keepers.” Dumeny said as we crossed past the huge gate. The car drove past the huge gate and we soon took the long road to the main house. there were several small houses stretched across the road. We call them pack houses. They were thew houses you will find in every pack. They usually made for the main members of the pack or the main family and their relatives. But they were really small in number now that I am seeing in Dumeny's pack.I didn’t gave much thought to it as it was none of my business to inquire about Dumeny's pack. I was just here till my men comes and get us out of us here. The car reached another gate and now I know it was the road to the main house. The place where the alpha resides. The guards stopped the car and looked for the identification. the security was tight. Although I was sure the
Esma’s pov“I have already made some calls. It will take us some time before they could come here.” I said and looked at Diana.Diana was alive. At least her hearts says so. Her heart was beating and alive and it was the thread of hope which was binding the August’s sanity.“She will be open her eyes soon.” I said and August didn’t answer anything but just keep on looking at Diana’s face.“Actually, I have thought of a solution.” I said and trailed off and I saw August tensing up. Now I have his undivided attention.“How about we call a witch?” I said and August looked at me as if he didn’t believe what I said.He blinked several times before he could comprehend what I said. he didn’t believed what I said because he looked stupid.“Who witch?” he said after a minute.“How many witches have you known in your life to call out for help?” I said. sometimes my brother can be the stupidest person on the whole planet earth.August just scratched the back of his head and I sighed in annoyance
Esma’s pov“Thank you Dumeny for all your help.” I said and played with my fingers. Why this all have to be so awkward?Dumeny chucked and brushed it off as if it was nothing. “We have been friends for all these years Emmy. This is only natural that we help each other.” He said and looked back at the sea.I don’t know if it was the stupid me who was waiting for a comeback or if it was the fact that we have shared the space for the first time in so many years alone, my instincts took over me.“Dumeny, how come you didn’t find your mate too?”Dumeny looked taken aback. As if he didn’t thought of the question before or maybe he didn’t think he would heard it from me.He blinked twice and just stared at me. His expression was blank. I never saw Dumeny like that. He had never made that face before. not in front of me at least.I know I have to strike when the iron is hot. This was the opportunity for me to get to know him better.“I know you had already had a thought about it. I mean you ar
In a sunny field, there was a happy donkey, munching on some fresh, green grass. She was enjoying her peaceful day when suddenly, she heard a scary snarl.“Oh my, what’s that noise?” the donkey wondered, her ears perking up.When she looked around, she saw a wolf, with his eyes fixed on her. “I’m very hungry,” the wolf growled, “I’m going to eat that donkey.”The donkey knew she couldn’t outrun the wolf. “It’s too late to run,” she thought. “I can see his mouth watering. I need to think of something fast!”As the wolf came closer, ready to pounce, the donkey had an idea. “Ouch, my poor hoof!” she cried out.The wolf, puzzled, stopped and asked, “Whatever is the matter?”“There’s a thorn in my hoof. It hurts so much,” the donkey explained. “Can you help me get it out?”The wolf was confused. “I’m going to eat you. Why would a thorn in your foot matter?”The donkey replied, “Well, if you’re going to eat me, you should help me first. If you don’t remove the thorn, it might get stuck in y
Esma’s pov“Are you talking about that boat?” I pointed towards the big boat which was still getting filled. The man nodded and I smirked.“Let’s go then.”4 hours later“Fasten it slowly!”“Alright tie it now.”“Good job! We have to wake up earlier tomorrow to move our luggage to the remaining ship, so go ahead and get some sleep.”I heard the voices of the bandits across the room.“Hey you dumbasses, can’t you be quiet? The leader is sleeping right now.” I heard one of the man shouting at the crowd and it didn’t take me a hint to understand that he was above them.I turned to look at August who was also hearing whatever was going on outside.“How long has it been since we infiltrated this place?” August asked quietly and looked at both of us.“I think about four hours have passed. It has gotten quiet and I can’t feel any more presence.” I said.“I guess we can go out now.” three of us on our toes, walked out of the room, it was supposed to be a store room and we infiltrated this plac
