Chapter CXV: Doomed

I left out a heavy sigh. Pakiramdam ko’y hinang-hina ako dahil sa nangyari. Surprisingly, the family really did help us – a lot! Since it’s raining they just told the men that there was a leak and they just finished fixing the roof when the men came.

The men eventually left and searched the other houses.

I fell on the floor and catched my breath.

My father. He did this horrible thing just for his own gain. He was confident that no one would suspect him for these crimes as this slum was not being looked after that much by the government. He’s confident about his men and his authority to them.

“What should we do?” I asked Chris who is now holding both of his knees and breathing with relief. “We have to find Dr. Carval before they do. Then we’ll go where Levy is.”

We thanked the family who have already recovered like it’s just a normal thing for them to see strangers inside their house. We quietly went outside the house and walked with our heads lowered like a while ago.
