CHAPTER THREE: The Proposal

“ I always have a plan for everything you know ” he said easily as he sip his wine.

I look at him for a moment and I realized he’s very handsome.

His blue bright eyes stare at me in return and i look away shyly.

“ You’re beautiful jilly ” He said softly and i held the urge to roll me eyes.

Okay fine, i appreciate him telling me I’m beautiful but the compliment is getting too much and why do I even have this feelings that he want more than just a lunch.

And as though he has read my thoughts he look at me seriously and I prepare myself to hear whatever he has to say for he look so serious.

“ Are you single ? ” He asked looking at me intensely.

I creases my face in surprise.

That caught me off guard, I smile and was about to reply when he interrupt immediately.

“ I go through your profile and there has not been any boyfriend. So you’re single? ” He said calmly.

I pinned him with my gaze and watch him slowly.

I smile, I had to.

He wants me to be his girlfriend. Because there’s no way he would go out on his busy schedule as the heir of Claw foot club to check on my profile… right?.

And his stare as well send me this strange chill, I think he’s dangerous.

I even think…  NO! I stop myself from thinking, this is absurd.

He surely mean no harm, he just wants an answer . I assure myself calmly.

“ I am single ” I finally answered.

He exhaled deeply and sit back watching me.

“ And you ? ” I asked him clearly taking him off guard. 

I smiled at him.

His private life is completely out of the media unlike the Mayor's family. 

I held my breath for a moment and scolded myself.

Why would i be thinking of the Mayor's family.

“ Yes, I’m single as well ” he said without blinking.

I open my mouth in shock but I quickly stop myself.

Who am I to disagree with him.

I quickly plaster my professional smile on my face and pick up my fork.

I chew the food slowly. I am aware that he was watching my every move.

I glanced up at him.

“ It’s delicious ” I announced wanting to change the conversation.

He smiles at me , suddenly my cellphone buzz and I open my silver bag to retrieve it.

“ Excuse me ” I said and stood up.

I walk away from him to pick my call.

It was Larry.

“ You don’t mean it… right? ” He asked me furiously and I frown in confusion.

“ Mean what ? ” I asked confused. He sounds pretty upset and I don’t know why.

We both are on a good term when I left. It’s not as if we even have had any fight since he was assigned as my manager.

Unlike Diana my stylist and Lorie my fashionista who's always at each others nerves all the time.

His voice came again with a hint of sadness.

“ You’re not going to suspend modelling for a month right ? ” He ask almost pleading.

I laugh softly.

“ What do you mean? Where did you get the idea from. I’m not suspending anything especially when I’m schedule to model for Claw foot club’s new products.” I narrated.

“ Yeah I know, that’s why I call you. An hour ago Mr Zachary arrange for you to be off for a month. He said you’re aware of it. ” 

My eyes Pop wide open in shock.

I turn to look at Zachary who was almost through with his food. I can still hear Larry speaking to me but I wasn’t listening.

I hung up Instantly and walk up to Zach.

“ I heard you issue a month off for me. ” I said calmly.

“ Yes I did. You need to rest ” He said easily as he sit back to watch me.

I stare at him trying hard not to snap at him.

“ I don’t think that would be necessary Mr Zach. ” I Said  with cold eyes. He flinched slightly as he notice I’m upset. I don’t care, I continue anyway.

“ Thanks for caring for me and for the lunch. If you won’t mind, I’d like to excuse myself. ” I said flashing him one of my sweet smile.

I begin to walk away , suddenly I heard him  stood up and call my name when i wanted to call my chauffeur.

I halted and turn to him.

“ I’m sorry. ” He apologized.

I turn to look at him waiting.

“ I just thought it will be best if you get some rest ”

“ Without you asking for my opinion ?” I asked calmly.

He look away sadly and I am beginning to feel pity for him.

“ It’s Okay Hary, I was only upset you make a decision without consulting me. You make it seem as though you’re my husband ” I said.

Hoping he would smile but to my shock he move towards me and held my hands gently.

I cock up an eyebrow in surprise.

“ I want to be ” he said calmly, looking at me Intensely.

I’m confused so I asked.

“ To be what ? ”

“ To be your husband ” He said.

I didn’t see that coming alright and I would have laugh loudly if he hasn’t appear to be very serious.

“ My husband? ” I asked again to be sure I’m not mistaken.

“ Yes, your husband ” He replied firmly.

I withdraw my hands from his and took a step backward.

But why me ? I asked myself.

Common you’re not that bad Jillian my inner voice said to me.

I look at him once again.

Oh no! But I'm sure his dad will be happy if he heard I'm dating his son. 

He’s not bad anyway I said to myself.

I signed deeply and smile.

“ Think about it ” He said suddenly as I open my lips to speak.

I’m sure he was scared I’d decline.

Well it won’t hurt if I have sometimes to think right.

I nodded and his eyes got wide open.

“ Give me sometime then ” I said smiling.

“ Really ? ” he asked in delight and I had to smile.

I nodded in positive.

“ Nice , thanks a lot. Can I hug you ? ” he asked but he didn’t wait for my response as he pull me into his arms.

He held on for sometime and I think I like it.

“ I’m going to decline the one month off ” I said pulling out from his embrace.

He smile sweetly.

“ Sure ” he replied then his cellphone buzz. He brought it out and check the screen. He declined the call and mutters “ work ”.

“ I think I should get going Hary , I have some preparation to make and I’m sure you can use some of your time as well ” I said smiling.

He nodded once and walk to my chair. He grab my silver bag and give it to me then he guarded me to the car.

I settled down as he open the car for me then he walk around and settled behind the wheel as well.

He look at me before starting the car and I believe i saw the undeniable happiness In his eyes.
