Arrogant Bastard

Chapter 3 - Arrogant Bastard

"Look at them!"

"So the rumors were true?"

"That's impossible, Prince isn't even looking at her."

"But he's not denying her though."

A lot of gossiping has been going around lately about the new student Natalie and the "Prince". An through their interaction, Nova and I have been profitting a lot. Nova has become fluffier and his fur has become smoother.

They were currently in the cafeteria eating lunch, we were in a spot way back so that we can still hear and see them but the two can't.

Natalie has been following this "Prince" for the past month and has been consistently showing up in front of Lucas. Natalie was a naturally clumsy girl, so there were a lot of times that situations turn awkward, I couldn't help but laugh. There was a time when She spilled paint on his uniform, our year was doing an art activity together and when Lucas ran out of blue paint, Natali rushed in as well as the other girls. It turned into a mess when she tripped and splashed it on his face. My stomach was aching from laughing, he looked like a smurf.

There was also a time when our year was on cleaning duty assigned in the gym. Natalie insisted on taking his job when the dustpan broke and the contents spread like confetti and he was covered. I almost cried from laughter, he looked like a  chimney sweeper from "M*ry P*ppins". His blue eyes contrasted on the black dust and dirt spread across his face.

"This soup is newly served Luc, you can have mine!" Natalie was up to something again.

"No thank you, you can enjoy that for yourself." Lucas politely refused but Natalie insisted.

"No, you should have this, it also has a larger portion of meat."

"You can have that." Lucas kept on refusing while Natalie kept on insisting. The serving of food was pushed in front of Lucas so he can accept it but when Natalie took a wrong step and tripped on a chair leg, a loud clatter was heard.

*CLANG*

"O-oh my goodness I'm, I'm so sorry!" The hot soup spilled on his summer shirt while the piece of meat slapped him in the face. Everyone was so stunned and shocked, some even wore an angry or annoyed face towards Natalie. I couldn't hold it any longer, their faces were too much for me to handle. I burst out laughing, luckily I muffled it in time so no one can hear me. I was shaking on my own at the back of the canteen. Tears from laughter came falling from my eyes and my face was red.

Demi couldn't stop herself from laughing and as she muffled her laughs with her right hand, a pair of blue eyes spotted her. Only after a few seconds did the two have eye contact. Demi stopped herself from laughing and pretended to cough. The pair of blue eyes didn't have any emotion in it even though the owner had a bowl of soup and meat thrown at him. He picked the meat from his shoulders and threw it on the ground. He put down his tray, fetched his handkerchief in his pocket, and wiped his face and hands.

"I-It wasn't on purpose, I'm so sorry! I'll replace you-" Before the girl even finished her sentence, the young man stopped her.

"No need." He maintained his composure and walked away to change, he left the annoying girl inside the canteen and went to his locker to fetch a new set of shirt and tie. He always has back up, be it shoes, pants, and even socks. It was a habit of his that was instructed by his father from a young age. His annoyance towards the small girl who kept following him slowly dissipated, he wasn't affected as much as he was by that girl.

'That laugh annoys me.' He saw the girl from a month ago in the garden. She was eating candy by herself while staring in the distance. She looks bored and lifeless, 'like me'. She didn't see me going out of the building and I just went past her. I then encountered two women who seem to be fighting. The short-haired girl ran away from me but the Brown-haired girl stared at me. Her eyes looked like they were expecting something from me and I didn't bother with it. I walked away from her and when I got to the other side, it was then, I heard someone shouting. The short-haired girl was shouting at her. I didn't have anything to do with it so I continued walking.

Who knew that the coming weeks would be torturous for him, the brown-haired girl kept following him and causing him problems. There was a time wherein his year was having art class together and was working on an art project when he ran out of blue paint.

"Do you have extra blue paint?" Lucas asked Alastair beside me, he looked up at me and cleaned his glasses that kept slipping from his nose. He simply shook his head. He was more silent than Lucas is so he was used to it. The brown-haired girl heard this and rushed towards Lucas holding a paint bucket, the other girls soon followed until it turned chaotic and her bucket was splashed on his face. Lucas wiped the sky-blue paint from his eyes, and as the paint drip from his chin, his eyes landed on a girl holding her stomach from laughing. It was the same girl from the garden but, her demeanor was completely different as if she was entirely another person.

I felt a sudden pain in my chest. It was annoying, her laugh was annoying as if it was mocking me. I turned away and washed my face, the paint didn't get removed for at least two days. Another event was when we were on cleaning duty assigned at the gymnasium. The brown-haired girl kept on insisting to do my job and the dustpan broke, it flew all over my face. I wiped my eyes and coughed from the dirt, and once again, my eyes landed on a girl shaking on her own. She held her stomach and continued laughing as the commotion continued. I felt my chest tighten once again, I hate it, it annoys me more than the brown-haired girl. I found it irritating and annoying, I was always on my rational side and I know she doesn't do anything that directly affects me, but I still feel annoyed. 'She must be mocking me.'

Lucas didn't know if it was his pride or the girl's face that caused his annoyance and irritation. His chest kept on feeling heavy and he interprets it as a nuisance.

The month was spent like that, Natalie following him and the two following right after. Lucas was obviously avoiding Natalie so Nova and I didn't tag along with the couple for at least a week. I was walking along in the library and dusted the books and shelves. The library became my turf and as a person in my territory, I have to keep it in check and keep it clean. The librarian has fully entrusted me as her student assistant. She never got to clean the books separately since she was a literature teacher, the mentor of the drama club, and the mentor of the student council as well. I was happy to fully accept the responsibilities in exchange for a cozy and quiet place to stay. Only a few students were coming here, either part of the student council or drama club. But the past week was different. A new guy kept on chilling here and reading, I'm not saying that you shouldn't read here, it's a library! But Nova never mentioned the library so it wasn't visited at all by the leads, it was a safe place for me most of the time. Nova has gone somewhere, he never mentioned where. It must be regarding his "family".

I was cleaning the books when the "recent visitor" tapped me oN the shoulder.

"Excuse me, do you know where the book *Art of oils* is placed?" It was an art book regarding oil paintings and components of famous oil paintings in history. I told him to follow me and I pointed at the aisle towards the right.

"It's on the 5th row up there." I pointed towards the bookshelf and went back to my work. We had become close, in my opinion. He didn't even acknowledge me when he first came here. I found him cute, he was an underclassman who wore thick glasses and was chubby. He looks so childish and innocent so I was naturally friendly towards him. He was now used to me helping him around the library.

"I'm sorry, but, are there stairs?" Oh, he was shorter than me, I didn't realize that he wouldn't reach up there. I just went there and reached for the book. I smiled at him and patted him on the head.

"Enjoy." With that, I finally went back again undisturbed from my work, it was a peaceful week without Nova. The week passed and Nova was finally back, fluffier than before.

'This arrogant little bastard.' We're currently sitting on top of the bookshelves and were listening to a certain someone confesses to Lucas. And that certain someone is Natalie.

"So?" Knowing the fates of these people, Demi feels bad for this young girl. After going crazy about Lucas during high school, they meet once again in her 2nd year in Lucas's company. She graduated bachelor's in communication arts and works in the Media department. She revisits the times in high school and falls in love with Lucas all over again. She basically becomes head-over-heels for two years and finally gets Lucas's attention.

"I-I just really admire you." It has been three weeks of Natalie encountering Lucas and we (Nova and I) have been following them around and collecting energies especially from Natalie, she was overflowing with it. If I wasn't in this situation wherein I just have to watch, I would've told Natalie that it isn't worth her time, but what can I do? It's not like we're close anyway.

"And?" Lucas had a straight face all throughout Natalie's perseverance. Does this guy have facial paralysis? Lucas continued to speak as if he's gotten enough of her sh*t.

"Are you pathetic enough to keep going on your delusions? You're too noisy, get out of my face." This was a firm rejection, it's not like he's not been rejecting her for the past three weeks, he has just finally said it straight from his mouth. Natalie's eyes became red, she started crying and sniffing.

"I-I'm sorry, I won't ever bother you again." Tears finally fell from Natalies eyes, I wouldn't be sympathetic to her, it was her fault for the most part of it anyway. Demi was enjoying her time on top of the thick bookshelves as Natalie rushed out of the library, crying.

"It's rather disrespectful to listen on others private conversation." Demi couldn't react enough, she kept her faze without emotion, she didn't know how to react.

'H-he saw you?' Nova was stunned and shocked as well when Lucas didn't get a reply from her, he continued.

"Who would've thought that you'd follow me as well, are you an admirer?" Demi's face finally became distorted. 'This arrogant dude!' Demi jumped from the tall shelves and lands on the railing of the stairs, she walked towards the arrogant man and sized him up.

"As far as I know this library is owned by a school, not a "private" individual, so if you want to have your conversations kept in secret, you better do it in your "private property", not in a school library." I went past him and opened the large library door. "Arrogant bastard." I unconsciously said to myself. I couldn't help it, he was totally being a b*tch! As if he owns the library! I grunted and went back towards my classroom to get my bag. I couldn't wait to sleep right after going home.
