Missing Two
Am sure I have been standing in the front door for over ten minutes. Melissa, Albert’s mother would not casually invite the “bitch” into her home.
Finally, someone came and answered the door. It was auntie Mary, the family nanny. A loving and caring woman, sometimes I wonder how she was able to put up with Melissa all these years.
“Morning sweet heart” she said smiling, “morning auntie” I responded amidst tears… then came Melissa. “What is going on there Mary?” she commanded. “Oh it is Kate” she replied with a smile, “ I think something is wrong with Albert,” Mary continued.
In matter of seconds, Melissa was standing before me an imposing figure of 1.78m with rage in her eyes, for the first time, I thought she would tear me to shreds.
Then she mellowed down a bit with a condescending look in her eyes and expressions, “what did you do to my Albert?” she asked.
I totally expected her to say such but not today. Before I could control myself, I spoke up and ranted for a while and all that time the classy Melissa was just looking on.
“This is why I told Albert that you’re not good enough for him, what could a girl like you offer apart from your exotic looks?” she mocked. In that moment, before I could think it over; I slapped Melissa so hard on her face that it turned red, even auntie Mary was taken aback by my outburst.
“Kate” she called, probably for the first time since I started dating Albert, “you will pay for this.”
Melissa is not a woman to be messed with, I knew in that moment that I was in for a rough ride. With that, she shut the door at me.
“Hello officer, it’s Melissa I want to file a report for a missing person; his name is Albert…” I heard as Melissa continued the call over the phone. Tired and dejected, I entered a taxi back to my apartment.
On entering my apartment, I felt like a ghost in my room, all the incidents from last night came flooding back to my memory, the incident with Melissa this morning; what would Albert say if he heard that I hit his mother? I thought.
With these thoughts on my mind, before I could lay a handle on what was going on, I collapsed on my bed. After what seemed like God knows when, I woke up with a splitting headache and nausea. What is wrong with me?. The thoughts about the possibility of being pregnant came into my mind, I quickly dismissed that, Albert and I have always been cautious.
The next morning, I could hardly get up from the bed, I was so tired, this is so unlike me; I will have to see my doctor today.
I quickly placed a call to the officer in charge of Albert’s case to know the recent developments in the case; after which I took my bathe in preparation to meet with Dr Amanda.
Without the slightest knowledge that the next events of my life will completely turn me upside down.

KATE A sliver of the truth
Emma’s POV I really have to reinvestigate the crime scene, am sure that we might be missing one or two clues. I have put to put a team together to ensure the success of this investigation. I turned it over in mind since that day on May 6th, it is already three days; thank God the scene was sealed off. “Who are my going to add to the team?” I pondered. Then I concluded on adding Lynn and Vin to my team. This case must be resolved, I said with all determination. “The time is 6am,” it’s my alarm clock. I just got up and freshened up for the case. The prosecution have already called Kate to court for aggravated assault and trespassing this can’t be delayed any longer. Melissa will definitely use this opportunity to keep her in jail and bias the mind of the jury in the murder case trial. Vin’s POV Being a detective for several years, I have come across many puzzles, but this case seems to be deeper than what the facts are presenting.
