_ROSE'S POV__
With tears in my eyes, I stretched my hand forward and muttered yes over and over again. I can't believe that he's officially asking me to be married to him and for real this time. I know it's going to be a shock to the public when they find out that the first wedding was a faux one. Even though we didn't leak pictures or post anything about it online, hundreds of thousands of people on the internet knows I'm married to Nate which means we have to release a statement that explains everything to them.
A lot of people will be confused, naturally, but we'll have to clear up the air if we want everything to go smoothly. I don't want to have to fight the online in-laws who will tell me I've been living a lie and isn't truly married to Nate.
When we got home, it was too late a
ROSE'S POV__SIX YEARS LATER"Mommyyyy". I heard my youngest scream. I sighed and walked into the room they were in. Ever since he was old enough to talk, Alexander has always looked for an opportunity to scream mommy around the house, even when there was no need for it. I've been trying to get him out of the habit but nothing seems to work even when his older sister caution him against it."You didn't have to shout that loud, Xander. Mommy would have heard you regardless." I said as I picked him up and placed him on my lap. It didn't seem like he has any injuries but the need for him to shout to get my attention was just there. It's not like I've been gone for that long. It's been barely twenty minutes since I left but that seemed like an hour or two in his eyes.
The last thing I remembered before I went unconscious was the fire. I could vaguely hear screams but my ears were ringing too much for me to pinpoint where they were coming from exactly. It was all around me. The fire was vivid. I also remembered that was the same fire that killed my entire family.I saw that last haunting look in my mom's eyes as the light sucked from her eyes. She died trying to reach out to me. Then, I slipped into unconsciousness. "I think she's waking up" I heard a voice say. I tried opening my eyes, but it felt as if the tissues in my eyelid were being torn apart by that simple action, so I just groaned instead. That must have alerted the people in the room with me. "Rose? Rose, can you hear me?" The same voice asked. I finally got control of my eyes and opened one slowly, it was very bright, almost white. When my eyes adapted to the light, I could see three people in front of me. Two men and a woman. "Yeah, I can" I can barely recognize my voice, cracky and
Living with this family for the past four months is one of the best things that has happened to me in a long while. It's been really fun and I've eased into their lifestyle and adapted to it.It was finally the day of my 21st birthday. Which also means the day I get to know my mate."Happy birthday" I knew Jo would be the first to wake me. She walked in holding a big cake followed closely by the rest of her siblings and Miranda, James's mate. She finally agreed to be with him after finding out what a great guy he is. Not without help from Jo and I by the way. It was just so heartbreaking to see James walk around like a depressed character from The Addams Family. They're the perfect couple now. I wish for that, other than the heartbreak part.I sat up on the bed as I was bombarded with gifts. They really spoil me rotten in this house."Guys, you didn't have to" Lies, they absolutely have to. I adore gifts."Nothing is too much for our big sister," John said as she handed me his gift. K
"You really should go with me," Jo tried to cajole me into going to the mall with her. Not like I wouldn't, but I'm extremely tired from the early morning and sometimes midnight runs that Bessie sometimes subjects us to despite knowing full well that I need my sleep too.“I'm sorry Jo, it's not like I don't want to, I'm just really tired right now." I tried to go back to sleep but she wouldn't have it. She pulled me back up from the bed."You can't sleep away your whole day," She whined."Actually, I can. Why don't you get Aunt Mel to go with you? Or one of the boys" I'm sure someone will be willing to go with her. "One of the boys?" She scoffed. "Yeah, right. Like they'd be caught dead going into a mall. And mom's busy, I already asked her. You're the only other female in this house. I'll need bits of advice when shopping.""Only other female? Wow, I didn't know Miranda is now trans. I must go see him, I'm sure he'll be heartbroken to learn that you've given away his secret of being
Nate must have been in great pain too because the next day, we got a message which stated that we should meet. Though I was in pain too, we had not had the time to extend an invitation for us to meet. We headed for the Jones's home the next morning, the earlier we can get this over with, the better. As we drove over, I kept trying to communicate with Bessie, only to receive silence back, sometimes, I thought I could hear her whine but I knew it was false, she has gone completely silent on me. "Soon, Bessie. I promise I'll fix this. I'm sorry". This has become my mantra since yesterday. I am in pains but according to the elders, she is in worse pain.I must have been lost in thought because the next thing I remember is my aunt ushering me down from the car. I looked around and it occurred to me that during my time of begging and apologizing to Bessie, we had arrived at Nate's house. Scratch that, this is not a house, it is a bloody mansion. Trying my hardest not to gawk at the extreme
I looked at my aunt. It wasn't something I had not expected. The council had suggested it and I'm sure we would have suggested it if they hadn't mentioned it first. It just means that I will actually have to live with him. Although, this will actually help me with my plans. I straightened up in my seat and made to speak when my aunt beat me to it."We agree to your terms. But we have a few conditions of our own before they do" We had discussed this on her way here rather, my aunt and uncle had. I zoned out most of the conversation to speak with Bessie. I only heard snatches of the conversation so I have to listen extremely carefully now.Kenneth motioned for my aunt to continue speaking. My aunt looked at my uncle who nodded at her before she continued. " Most of our conditions are basic ground rules. One, nothing, and absolutely nothing must happen to Rose thr
Looking at myself in the mirror in this ridiculously beautiful bridal gown is making me nauseous. It's not like I don't like the gown, I love it, but the idea of wearing such a beautiful creation for something that's not even real is making me annoyed. We've been shopping for six hours already, and we've gotten every other thing with the gown as the last stop. After trying on four previous gowns, we finally found "the one". I don't even know why we bothered with it, but knowing Nate's family, they'd plan something fancy, so the jeans and top are definitely out of the equation. After so much squealing and sniffing, we paid for the gown and we went back home. I guess I am a little excited about getting married even if it's someone I do not love.We got home to meet the full house. During the time of our shopping, the Joneses sent
I was jarred out of my sleep by an alarm I am pretty certain I didn't set, must be the work of Jo or my aunt. I looked at the time, 4 am. Ok, I'm definitely going to kill Jo.My suspicions were confirmed when she peeped sheepishly from my door before barreling in. How anyone could have so much energy at the ungodly hour is something I cannot comprehend."Is there any reason why I should be awake by this inhumane hour?" I asked, clearly annoyed. It's not like I was looking forward to this day, but getting woken up is adding to my long list of reasons to be grumpy for the rest of the day."First off, you're not human so this isn't inhumane" I made her say something when she stopped me, and before you say it's a metaphor or whatever, I know. Secondly, it's your wedding day, and
