Chapter 1

One month before the day…

Sarah’s POV

“Look at you Sarah, you’re completely different from the first time I saw you here, you’re lucky 10 years isn’t a long time,”

That was Billie, one of my friends in this cramped room, she was the first one to beat me up when I passed through these annoying iron bars.

I can’t believe it’s been 10 years that I’ve shared air with them, now I only need to wait one month before making that bastard pay for everything he’s taken from me.

“Hey red hair, come here,” Mary called me, she was a rich old woman, she was in there for killing her ex-husband when she found him having an affair with her own best friend, she was sentenced to life in prison.

“What’s wrong?” I just turned to her from where I was.

“Remember what I told you, use all that’s left, and make him regret what he did to you, he’ll have to kneel before you like you always did to him,” Mary said.

“Don’t worry, I’ll handle it,”

Yes, of course, I’ll handle it, I have to make sure that guy feels what I’m feeling right now, being in prison for a mistake I never did, it sucks, I wasted a lot of my time being locked up here.

At first, I thought this was the end of my life but it turns out, this is just the beginning of everything, and I’ll make sure no one can bring me down this time.

15 Years Earlier…

‘knock…knock…’

“Wait a minute,”

I turned off the stove before running towards the door when I heard a knock, it must be Arthur, my boyfriend.

The door opened and the handsome guy appeared in front of me, with a charming smile on his face, his hair neatly combed with a green sweater and black ankle pants.

He was taller than me, and he was my type, I still couldn’t believe how someone like him could choose to spend time with a girl like me.

“Hey baby, this is for you,” Arthur said and handed me a box of beer.

“Thank you, but you don’t have to bother buying it, I still have some beer in the fridge, come in,”

I took the box of beer and pulled his hand inside before closing the door with my foot and carrying him to the simple dining table in my apartment, no this is not mine, this is one of his properties that he lent me.

“Sit down first, are you hungry? Dinner is ready, you said you wanted to eat Rose pasta, I tried to make it from a tutorial on YouTube, I hope you like it,”

Walking back to the kitchen to prepare two plates of Rose pasta before bringing it to the dining table, my heart was beating fast because this was my first time cooking, and Rose pasta was his favorite, so my life was really at stake here.

“Here, Rose pasta I made, I know it doesn’t look like what you expected but I’m sure it tastes good,”

Putting the plate in front of him before sitting on my chair, right across from him while looking at him nervously.

“Why do you look nervous? I'm sure it tastes good, and I'm starving so let's eat together," Arthur said.

"Aish, no you have to try it first, we can buy something for dinner if it doesn't taste good, and maybe I should stop cooking this time," I said before lowering my head and looking at my Rose pasta that didn't look tempting.

But as usual, the romantic man in front of me took my hand while smiling he made me calmer even though I still felt a little nervous about the taste because honestly I just followed the recipe from YouTube without trying it, I believed in the recipe but I didn't believe in my own hands and tongue.

"It's okay baby, I'm sure it's tasty, yes even though it looks a little pale but you made it for me," Arthur said.

He let go of my hand to take a fork and roll the pasta onto his plate to eat, I just swallowed seeing it, even when the pasta sauce made a mess on Arthur's lips it still made him look sexy.

"How is it?"

I didn't want to hear anything, because he didn't show a good facial expression in my opinion, but it seemed like he was just teasing me because he didn't say anything and just stared at me.

“Arthur!! tell me how it tastes. I know it’s not good, give it to me, we should buy something for dinner,”

It didn’t take long for me to take the plate in front of him and bring it to the kitchen, I immediately threw it into the trash and put the dirty plate on the sink when Arthur approached me and hugged me from behind.

“I’m sorry, I’ve tried it, and I should have known I’m not good at cooking so it’s better not to try it,”

“Hey, why are you talking like that? I haven’t even opened my mouth yet but why did you throw it away? it’s delicious, your rose pasta is delicious, just like I thought, come here, look at me,” Arthur turned my body around, making me lean on the counter and face him, my eyes were almost wet from holding back tears, but when I saw the smile on his face I just wanted to hug him and forget about my stupidity earlier.

"Come here, I know you just need my hug right now," Arthur said and immediately pulled me into his arms, he seemed to read my mind, but I was just embarrassed to look at his face because I knew he was just saying that to please my feelings.

"I want pizza for dinner and lots of beer for tonight,"

Hugging him tightly while sniffing his body scent is my favorite, I could fall asleep in his arms in this position, but unfortunately, I can't because my stomach keeps rumbling and I have to eat something before going to bed, or my eyes won't close all night.

"Okay, let's order pizza, but I can't join you for a beer, because I have to drive," Arthur said as he let go of my hug.

"But it's Friday, and you have the day off tomorrow, why do you have to drive? Aren't you staying here?"

“I forgot to tell you that my boss asked me to see his new project, he wants me to take care of everything so I have to give my best,” Arthur said.

“Oh I thought we could spend the night like usual, but never mind, this might be a good step for you, maybe one day you will be the one signing your project contract,”

I am very proud of him, even though he was born into a wealthy family, but Arthur Wood, was never shy to start from the beginning, I knew him when I was in school and he was very cold, we never talked and never got this close until finally we met again, as if fate brought him to me when everyone left me, including my bitch friends.

We have been together for 5 years, and it feels really hard to believe, a man like him wants a girl like me, I have nothing now, even when he asked me to be his girlfriend, I was just a cashier at a fast-food place, but he treated me perfectly, there was almost no time for me to curse him because he always put me first above everything else.

Since we were together, he even paid for all my needs including letting me stay in one of his apartments.

His parents bought him 2 apartments, as a birthday present and a gift because he managed to get a job, he lived in one of them and gave me a room to live in the other one, I don't think his parents knew because during my time with him he never brought me to meet them, but I wasn't ready for that either, I was very far from their expectations, I was sure of that.

After finishing a box of pizza for myself my stomach felt like it was about to explode, not to mention the 4 cans of beer that I finished by myself, I was confused why Arthur didn't feel ashamed at all to have a girl like me, he even looked happy when I devoured the pizza in front of him greedily.

"Baby," Arthur said, he sat next to me when I saw the clock showing 11.45 pm, it seemed like he wanted to go home while I was eating my dinner but he didn't want to ruin my mood.

“I know it’s quite late and you can go home, you need enough sleep to meet your boss tomorrow,”

Honestly, my head also felt dizzy, not drunk because I knew my alcohol limit but still these 4 cans of beer were enough to make my head feel heavy, but I wouldn’t sleep because my stomach still felt tight.

“I’m sorry, I promise to come tomorrow night for dinner together, but how about this time we eat at your favorite restaurant?” Arthur said.

“No way! I only have one favorite restaurant, and I think it’s been a long time since I went there,”

my ears perked up when I heard his words, I knew he would keep his promise, that’s Arthur and that’s what made me fall in love with him.

“I’ll take out your trash, I’ll call you when I get home, I love you, baby,” Arthur kissed my forehead before leaving with the trash scattered in my living room.

He didn’t even wait for me to answer his words and I think I was also running out of energy to say that I loved him too. I just want my stomach to quickly digest the food I eat so I can sleep soon.

I dropped my body to the back of the sofa and turned my head towards the window on my right side, I could feel the cold night air touching my skin, but it was refreshing and yes as I expected, it made my eyes even heavier to open and finally I just fell asleep.
