Hi, I hope you're enjoying the story so far. Tbh, I really enjoyed writing these last few chapters. To some readers, it might have felt an unnecessary mini plot (their fight and all) but honestly, that's the realistic touch of a relationship. Things don't always remain sweet and lovey dovey. Problems happen between couples and most of the time, the cause is really small in someone else's perspective. But what matters is that two people who claim to love each other always find their way back to each other. And that's the message I want to give my readers too. Keep loving and keep doing efforts until letting go is the only option. If that's the case, then don't hesitate to prioritise yourself and your mental health. Love you all, Aurhor Hami.
Ember's POV: Today, after breakfast, Nicholus called for a meeting. I was strolling on the lawn with Luna when I received the mindlink. By the time I entered his office, Darius and Ethan were already seated there. The air seemed thick with tension. They were talking. They were engrossed in their own thoughts. I made my way toward the desk and Ethan shot up from his chair, offering me to sit down on his spot. I was just about to refuse but he was already on his way to bring another one closer to the desk. Mumbling thanks to him, I settled on the chair beside Darius who was sitting with a stiff posture. Turning his gaze to me, he shook his head in disappointment, "I can't believe you guys were cooking this behind my back. Why was I not involved?" he complained. I tried to explain, "We were just discussing it on and off. Nicholus needed me to say yes before he could finalize anything. But as soon as I agreed, we involved you guys." He deadpanned, "Exactly my point." I sto
Ember's POV:It had been one week since Nicholus and I had that conversation. He must have expected that I'd agree right because he seemed baffled when I asked him to give me some time to think.Such decisions cannot be taken in the heat of the moment. And at that time, I was an emotional, heartbroken mess so I didn't wanna take a decision I won't be able to live up to.Last night, I was standing in the balcony, gazing the stars twinkling in the sky. I sniffed him before I heard him.Looking over my shoulder, I saw him making his way into the balcony.Making a beeline in my direction, he wrapped his arms around my belly and hugged my from behind, "I love coming to you after a long and hectic day."I placed my hand over his on my belly, "Indeed, the favorite time of the day."We stayed there, just like that, lost in each other's embrace, wrapped in each other's warmth.Staring up at the moon, I hummed, "Nicholus?"He kissed me at the spot between my neck and shoulder, sending tingles a
Ember's POV: With tears on the brink of my eyelashes, I dashed through the corridors and went straight into my bedroom. Slamming the door shut, I stumbled toward the bed and flopped down. For a long minute, I kept sitting on the edge, clutching the bedsheet, and staring at the wall ahead with so many things going on in my mind and emotions in my body. My vision blurred and that's when I felt hot tears spilling out of my eyes. My shoulders shook as my low weeping turned into ugly sobs. Slowly, I lay on the mattress and buried my face in the pillow. Why? Why did he have to do this? Why did he hate me so damn much? Lucas? Really? He chose him to rule the empire that was his pride? What was he thinking? Did he really believe that Lucas was worthy to rule the South? That dumbwit clown had no sense of how to rule. He was never meant to be the King and hence was never trained to be one. He never made any political appearance. He never interacted with the people of the South. Was Fat
Ember's POV: After training, I returned to my room, took a quick shower, and dashed down the stairs to arrive on time to have dinner with family. When I reached the dining hall, everyone was already seated there and waiting for me. "Sorry, I got late," I excused while handing Milo to the maid. "It's okay, we've just arrived," Luna said sweetly. As I sat down, Darius groaned dramatically, "Couldn't you hear my poor, empty stomach grumbling all the way through your room?" I rolled my eyes, "Oh, please, I literally saw you indulging in chocolate cake just an hour ago." He popped out his bottom lip, "That was just a teeny tiny piece." Ethan huffed from beside him, "You ate half of the damn cake, Darius." As they started their bickering session, Nicholus whispered beside me, "How was the training today?" I saw Luna gestured at the maids to start serving the dinner before turning my attention back to Nicholus, "It was good. Usual stuff." He nodded and started staring at his plate
Ember's POV:The next morning, I woke up and rolled over the mattress to wrap my arms around Nicholus and have some cuddling time before getting up and going on with the day.My eyes were still closed when I tapped the mattress and found it empty. Peeking my eyes open, I glanced at the clock and jerked up on the bed.It was 11 in the morning. And I'd slept in. Fuck, I have a training session with Mother and she would be here at noon.Untangling my legs from the sheets, I shot out of bed and mindlinked Nicholus, "Why didn't you wake me up?"In a calm voice, he replied, "Good Morning to you too, beautiful wife."Dashing into the washroom, I groaned, "I slept in."His voice remained calm, so opposite to mine frantic one, "You were sleeping so peacefully. Just like a baby. I didn't have a heart to wake you up."He paused and then said as an afterthought in a really flirty tone, "Plus, after the night we had, you needed all the rest baby."I shook my head while taking off the night gown, "
Ember's POV:After two hours of strolling, playing, and chasing each other in the woods, Fang and Aria finally decided to give control back to us.We shifted back to our human forms inside the shed and slipped on our clothes.Nicholus seemed quiet while angrily yanking a shirt over his head. I knew he was arguing with Fang in his head so I chirped up from my spot, "But it was refreshing, Nicholus. I liked it."He gave me a side-eye, "Yeah, give him a chance to boast about it."Approaching him, I hooked my arm through his and groaned, "Let's just go now. I need a shower badly," because I was sweating profusely.Together we made our way toward our room and once inside, made a beeline to the washroom.Facing Nicholus, I tucked my lower lip between my teeth and nibbled on it sensually while sliding the spaghetti straps down my shoulders. As the dress pooled at my feet, Nicholus's eyes turned a shade darker as they traveled down my body. I stayed there, stark naked, as my mate took his tim
