POV Fedora

My mouth stayed completely shut. I just stared at the empty doorway.

The young maid stepped right in front of me, blocking my view. She lowered her head fast. Do not worry, Alpha. I will make sure she looks absolutely perfect for you.

He gave one short nod and walked away, closing the heavy door behind him.

The room went totally quiet. The maid turned around to face me. She grabbed the sides of her clean white apron and pulled them wide. She dropped down very low into a formal bow, almost touching the clean floor.

I am completely at your service, Luna Fedora.

A loud scoff escaped my dry lips. I walked right past her and threw my tired body onto the huge, soft mattress.

Please stop doing that unnecessary bowing right now. I let out a heavy sigh, resting my cheek on the pink pillows. Just call me Fedora. No fancy titles.

She jumped back up fast. She reached deep into her apron pocket and pulled out a tiny little notebook and a black pen. She clicked the pen loudly.

Okay, rule number one. She muttered quietly to herself, her pen moving fast across the small paper.

Stop bowing.

I lifted my head off the pillow, completely confused. What in the world are you doing?

A wide, bright smile took over her face. Oh, I always write every single rule down! She tapped the plastic pen against her chin. My brain is not very good at remembering important things.

I dropped my head back down. Okay, rule number two. Stop writing every single thing down.

She gasped softly, flipping to a brand new page. She scribbled even faster this time. Rule number two... stop writing everything down.

I stared at her in pure disbelief. I stayed quiet for a very long minute, just waiting for her to realize what she just did.

She finally looked up, blinking her big, innocent eyes at me. What is wrong?

A small, real smile touched my lips. You are totally crazy. I really like you already.

A loud, happy laugh burst out of her mouth. The bright sound was so sweet and contagious. A little giggle escaped my own throat, and soon, we were both laughing loudly together.

The warm noise completely filled the big pink room, chasing away my dark fears for just a minute.

Her cheeks turned a deep, shy red. Thank you. She looked down at her shoes. Nobody has ever liked my crazy side before. Most people just think I am very weird.

I sat up on the bed, crossing my legs. Hmm. To me, you actually seem very smart. You look like you should be wearing cute reading glasses.

Her smile grew even bigger.

Anyway, is there any real food hidden around here? I rubbed my flat stomach. I am completely starving.

She put her hands on her hips, looking very proud. Well, I thought you would never ask! Please follow me to the dining table, Luna.

I ignored the title this time. I stood up quickly and followed her out. My stomach made loud, angry growling noises the whole way down the hall.

We walked into a small, private dining room. A long table sat in the middle, completely covered in silver plates. Steam rose from hot bowls of meat, fresh bread, and sweet fruits

. I had never even seen most of these beautiful foods before in my entire life. My mouth watered instantly.

I grabbed a fork and started eating fast. I tasted sweet chicken, soft potatoes, and warm bread. I ate and ate until my tight stomach felt completely full and heavy.

Back at Damon's house, I never, ever ate like a queen. I ate plain, boring meals just like the lowest guards. I spent most of my days trapped in the hot kitchen cooking all his meals, even though he had plenty of expensive palace chefs.

He always demanded that I cook his food. He claimed my cooking tasted much better. I always tried my absolute best to serve him perfectly. I wanted to make him happy.

But he just chewed his food and walked away. He never once gave me a simple thank you. Not even one time. I stupidly lied to myself back then. I just told my foolish heart that he loved the food but did not know how to express his feelings.

Only Damon got the special treatment. Only Damon ate like pure royalty. But I never cared about eating good food back then. I loved him blindly.

Seeing him enjoy his meal was enough for me. I would happily scrape the burnt leftovers from the bottom of the cooking pot just to see him smile.

Looking back now, the red flags were always right there. For years, he showed me exactly who he was. He showed me clear signs of his cold heart. And tonight, he finally showed me his true, evil colors by choosing another woman over my life.

I pushed my empty plate away. I leaned back into the comfortable chair, rubbing my full belly. I closed my eyes to relax and let the warm food digest.

Suddenly, Ella walked back into the dining room. She carried soft hair brushes and a beautiful, shiny dress in her arms.

Luna Fedora. She giggled softly, shaking the pretty dress. It is time to get you cleaned up and dressed.

"How dare you, you absolute bastard!" I screamed, the words ripping violently from my throat. A blind, roaring wave of heat consumed my mind, erasing every single drop of caution I had left. I didn't care about rules, I didn't care about pack laws, and I certainly didn't care that she was a trained warrior. I rushed forward, my feet digging fiercely into the dirt as I lunged straight at her face. Every single cell in my body just wanted to fly at her, tear that disgusting, smug look right off her face, and stick my fingernails deep into her eyes. But before I could even cover half the distance, Ella’s arms suddenly wrapped tightly around my waist from behind. She threw her entire body weight backward, straining against my forward momentum as she forcefully dragged me away from the smiling bully. "Luna Fedora, please stop! Calm down!" Ella pleaded frantically, her voice trembling with panic as she struggled to hold me back. She leaned in close to my ear, her breathing shallow as her e

The sudden, violent impact sent a sharp jolt of pain radiating across my shoulders. I stumbled blindly forward, my feet tangling as the sheer force of the unexpected hit completely threw me off balance. My carefully styled hair whipped violently across my face, scattering in wild, messy strands over my eyes. Before my knees could buckle against the hard dirt, Ella’s hands shot out, gripping my arms with a tight, desperate strength. She pulled back hard, steadying my weight until I finally regained my footing. I didn't fall to the ground, but my heart was hammering wildly against my ribs. "Well, that was incredibly close," I breathed, my voice trembling slightly as I clung tightly to her shoulders for support. Once the dizziness cleared, I straightened my posture and began scanning the immediate area, my eyes moving sharply over the crowded field. Everywhere I looked, warriors and pack members seemed completely absorbed in their own worlds, laughing, stretching, or violently sparring

The warm, golden rays of the morning sun filtered brightly through the large glass windows, painting long streaks of light across the wooden floorboards. I slowly opened my eyelids, my head still throbbing with a slight dull ache from the heavy bourbon I had gulped down the night before. The gentle rustle of fabric and the quiet, hushed whispering of female voices had dragged me out of my deep sleep. I blinked a few times, adjusting my blurry vision, and saw two young pack maids moving quietly around the massive bedroom, dusting the shelves and tidying up the furniture with careful movements. I pushed myself up into a sitting position against the plush pillows, pulling the heavy blankets up to my chest. The sudden movement caught the attention of the nearest maid. She quickly froze in place, her eyes widening slightly as she lowered her head in a deep, respectful bow. "We are so incredibly sorry for waking you up from your rest, Luna," she murmured nervously, her fingers twisting the

The entire world seemed to freeze into absolute silence for a fraction of a second. The faint, sweet melody of the piano faded into the background as I slowly closed my eyes, completely giving in to the pull between us. My breathing grew shallow, and on pure instinct, I began tilting my head up, bringing my lips closer and closer to his waiting mouth. A frantic voice screamed inside my head, demanding to know why on earth I was doing this to myself, why I was letting my guard down for a man I barely knew. I didn't have a logical answer. I only knew that my body wanted his touch more than anything else in that moment, completely ignoring all my fears. Our lips were a mere millimeter apart, the heat between us completely suffocating, when Michael suddenly stiffened. A sharp look of realization flashed across his dark features, as if a cold bucket of water had just been thrown over his head. He pulled back slowly, jerking his chin away from my fingers as his expression hardened into an

A soft, helpless smile touched my lips, spreading across my face before I could even try to stop it. I didn't want to show him how much he was affecting me, but my body simply refused to listen to my brain. Moving like a woman under a spell, I slowly pushed my chair back, stood up from the lavish table, and placed my small hand directly into his large, open palm. The moment our skin met, a jolt of heat rushed up my arm. He pulled me close, his fingers tightening around mine as he suddenly guided me into a swift, graceful spin. A sharp, breathless gasp escaped my throat as the world blurred around me. I genuinely thought my feet were going to slip on the smooth floor and send me crashing down, but his powerful arm shot out instantly, catching me firmly by the waist. He leaned over, bending my body back slightly as he held me secure. My heart hammered against my ribs when he dipped me, his face hovering mere inches above mine, his warm breath fanning across my lips as if he were about t

I lowered my gaze to my plate, my fingers tightly gripping the silver fork as the painful memories rushed back. "When I went to the bathroom at the stadium, I ran straight into my sister," I murmured, the words feeling heavy on my tongue. I let out a bitter, breathless laugh that did nothing to hide the ache in my chest. "As it turns out, she completely hates my guts. She wants to exact her sweet revenge on me, even though she was the very same person who went behind my back and stole my boyfriend." Michael leaned back in his chair, a slow, dark smirk spreading across his handsome face as he absorbed my words. "Hmm," he rumbled, his deep voice vibrating with cold amusement. "What a truly lovely and supportive family you have." I rolled my eyes, a sarcastic smile touching my lips despite the tears prickling the corners of my eyes. "Yeah, I guess so," I replied, looking up to meet his intense gaze. "I really couldn't have asked for a better, more loving family than the one I got." As
