Present time – IANNA’POV

Today is my 16th birthday, a day that should be celebrated in my life with a grand event. Not only because I am turning sixteen but because this is the day, I should be getting my wolf. Today I become an adult, I get to connect with the whole pack and be able to mind link with everyone.

Exciting, right? Not. I woke up today and did my daily chores in the hope that my mother would do something special for me today. That she will care enough and acknowledge that sixteen years ago today she had a baby girl, me.

Not only that but also because it’s my first day of high school. I have been homeschooled throughout primary school and now I get to be around other kids my age. Make friends and be normal, like everyone else in the pack.

I made breakfast and when I was done, I rushed to the closet, I called a room and took my bucket. I went to fill it with water then went to take a bath. I was humming as I washed myself, I was excited for many things today.

When I was done, I wore my uniform then took my backpack and rushed downstairs. I was hoping for a birthday cake or muffin then we do cake when I got back from school but there was nothing. Vaselissa and my mother were having breakfast.

I was hoping for a happy birthday but when I entered the kitchen my mother got up and kissed Lissa on the cheek then wished her a good day at school before leaving the kitchen. I was hurt but soon brushed those feelings off. This was my first day of school and I was not going to ruin it.

“Good morning, Lissa.” I greeted my sister and took a seat where my mother sat previously. “Why in the hell would this be a good morning when you have ruined my appetite? You seem to forget your place more and more these days.”

Well, I expected something like that from my sister. Lissa is like mom; she doesn’t like me at all. It’s like I have done something to offend her and yet, I did nothing to her. I know she blames me for not having a father. But I am used to it.

I did not respond to her and ate my breakfast. I kept looking at the time to make sure that I did not miss the bus. I didn’t want to be late to school on my first day. “Why are you not answering me?” Lissa snapped, annoyed when I didn’t answer her.

I opened my mouth to respond but she shut me up by raising her hand in my face stopping me. “On second thought, your voice is just going to make things worse for me, so, don’t say anything and don’t even look my direction at school. I don’t want you ruining things for me.”

I did not mind, I planned on making friends of my own when I got to school and then I won’t have to deal with Lissa. A car hooted outside, Lissa fixed herself and reapplied her lipstick before heading out. My sister is a beautiful girl, she is tall with long legs, long blond hair, a nice figure, and curves in the right places.

I on the other hand, am a short brunet with big bright green eyes, thunder thighs and a huge ass. And I still had five minutes before the bus arrived, I must hurry and stop envying my sister. I finished quickly then packed some bread and fruit for myself.

“That’s what you know how to do best, eat, and eat. Nothing else. Goddess! You are so useless.” I didn’t even see when my mother got to the kitchen. “Am sorry mom.” I quickly took my bag and rushed out before she could say something else mean to me.

I did not need that today; this day is supposed to bring me luck and everything positive.

I took a seat in the middle. There were only a few students on the bus, some from our pack and some from other surrounding packs. Am sure others drove to school, that was why it was only a few of us.

Everyone minded their own business, others on their phones, others with books opened while others conversed with those sitting next to them. I was okay with that; I was planning to get to know them at school and make some friends.

Soon, the bus arrived at school and my excitement peeked. I could not wait to get inside. The bus stopped and the students in front started getting off. I rushed off as well and when my feet hit the ground, I sighed feeling relieved and excited.

The day felt surreal, all this time I thought my mother was going to change her mind and tell me that I was not going and that I would continue being homeschooled, but she didn’t, and I am happy. I looked around and saw people standing in groups. With a smile on my face, I walked forward.

But something strange happened, when I got to the other students, they moved away making way for me to pass. I thought they were thoughtful or that they were just staring because I was a new student.

I didn’t mind them. I went to the office and got my class schedule then headed to my class. When I got inside there were still a few students inside as others were still outside talking to their friends. I could not wait to be one of them.

I took a seat in front. The bell rang and everyone got inside. People avoided sitting in front, they all piled up at the back others took seats on the desks on the sides but far from me, but I still didn’t mind. Everyone had the right to sit where they wanted to.

The teacher came in and started the lesson. I raised my hand to answer the question and I heard someone at the back say, “Curse.” As they coughed. Mr. Williams stopped and asked. “What did you say Luka?”

The guy Luka was sitting at the back surrounded by many girls. “I was just coughing sir; I think I am coming down with a cold.” I doubted what I heard when he said that. “You should see a nurse then if that is the case.” Mr. Williams said.

“No sir, I am fine, really, please continue with the lesson.” The girls he was sitting with giggled on the side and I wondered if I answered the question wrong. The lesson continued without any hiccups and other classes after that. Soon it was time for lunch. I headed to the cafeteria to get myself something to drink and when I entered silence fell and I felt like everyone was looking at me.

That was not possible, right? I was the new student so there was no way they were looking at me. I ignored them and went to get myself the juice and a muffin. I finished paying and just as I turned around someone bumped into me, and my things fell to the ground.

“Watch where you are going, you fucking curse. Or do you want to give me some of your curse?” Everyone erupted into laughter. My heart started beating fast and my hands shook. I tried to get away from there but someone else pushed me.

I stumbled and before I could regain my balance someone else pushed me and I fell on the ground. “Where do you think you are going near me? You belong right where you are, on the ground where you won’t spread your curse around.”

Right then I knew that Lissa told everyone in school about the curse, I had forgotten about that, I knew my life was going to change today but not like this.

More and more insults kept coming as I sat there taking them all. But I did not let my tears fall. “That’s enough!” I heard the most intoxicating voice ever reprimanding the other students. When I looked up, the most handsome boy stood in front of me with his hand extended to me.

Everyone around us disappeared and it was only the two of us remained. At least it felt that way. I took his hand and got up. It was Jayden, the alpha’s son who helped me. He held my hand a while longer. “Jayden, what are you doing touching the cursed child, do you want the whole pack and you the alpha’s son to be affected by her curse?”

It was Lissa who said that, then I got back to reality when Jayden quickly let go of my hand like he was holding a hot potato. Everyone started laughing and others cursing at me.

I could not take it anymore and so I ran. All the way out of the school and into the woods. My heart was broken, and I just wanted to get away from everyone.  When I thought I was far enough I stopped trying to catch my breath.

But then something unexpected happened, a voice came out of nowhere and spoke. "Are you ready? Your wolf is coming now." I looked around but before I could assess my surroundings any further, an excruciating pain hit me, and I doubled over and fell on the ground.

AEGENThe guard went looking for Ianna’s phone in all the places she went to toady, but he could not find it. I tried calling it again, but it kept ringing with no answer. I didn’t think much of it when I asked my head of security to track it.But I started to worry when she told me that she tracked it to the woods close to our spot. Our spot was between the palace and the deep-water pack. There were only three people who knew about that spot and one of them was dead.Me, Ianna, and my dead sister. Also, I knew that Ianna would not have gone to that spot without me. We promised we would find time to go there together. Plus, the guard said she never left the palace grounds since I left. That only meant one thing, that her phone was stolen, and the culprit was someone who worked in the palace. I wouldn’t have cared about finding the phone if it wasn’t for the serial killer we had in our hands.I could not take any chances and there were no coincidences with these kinds of things. So, I

IannaI studied until noon then I went and got lunch for myself. I was starting to feel dizzy, and I knew it was because I didn’t eat breakfast. Aegen would have been angry with me if he knew I didn’t eat breakfast. He would have accused me of starving his child. Not knowing that I didn’t have appetite this morning. After eating, I felt sleepy, and I decided to go and take a nap for a while before going back to my studies. The week has ended and there were still no new leads on the serial killer. Aegen was getting frustrated by all of it. I could hear it in his voice very time we spoke on the phone. But there was nothing either of us could do about it.This person has to be stopped. One way or the other he has to be found. I told my guard I was going to take a nap for a while and that he should not let anyone disturb me. I missed having a friend in the palace. Now that Aegen was not here, I didn’t have anyone to talk to. It was lonely. The omega bless their souls try to talk to me and

AEGENLeaving the palace was difficult, not it was not but leaving Ianna was. Especially now, knowing that she might be in danger. We didn’t know who this was, we didn’t know where he was. He could be at the palace for all we knew and yet. I was leaving her behind. My heart was not at ease, but I had to go. She wanted me to be the best warrior in the kingdom and not her mate and father of her unborn child. She trusted me to get this person and put this matter to rest.It has been a week since I left her, and three more people have been killed so far. A she-wolf from the silver moon pack and a close guard to the young alpha of the deep-water pack. Jeyden. He too was killed the same way as the others.Another was the young alpha from the Golden Moon pack and this one was a friend of Jeyden. Now I believed that the person who was doing all the killings was after Jeyden, but we still didn’t know why.We were now back at the Deep-Water pack to question the kid. I want thinking this person

IANNAI sat there listening to Damon explain about this serial killer and I didn’t know what to do. Aegen and I have just taken over as leaders of the kingdom and yet the very first challenge we had on our hands had nothing to do with finances.Resolving pack disputes, no, our problem was bigger than anyone else’s. we had a serial killer in our hands, and we had no idea what to do or how to stop the person. I hear Damon saying they are trying to figure out what this person wanted, and I couldn’t care less about that.I wanted the person can be found. The only way to know what the person wanted was to find them and question them. “Tell me Damon, since you and my father have discovered what this person’s Amo is, have you not discovered what he wants already?”I mean, his actions and the scorpion should give them an idea what he wants. “It’s not that simple with this person. The Amo is the same, but that doesn’t give us anything at all. Just some killings done by the same person nothing

AEGENI watched from the window as my mother and Ianna’s father got into the car and left. She has been trying to talk to me since the coronation, but I would not hear any of it. She did something wrong and she needed to know that and learn. This is how Christina started her evil ways and because I forgave her when she did that. She continued to a point that she ended up almost killing my mate. Mother needs to know that we don’t do things like that I was not going to allow her to start now. What she did was vindictive for no reason because Ianna’s father chose her. Why did she have to go the extra mile rubbing it. That is one thing I will never understand.Ianna came and stood behind me. “You should have said goodbye to her.” I scoffed. “She is not dying but leaving the kingdom.” She came and stood in front of me. “You are going to miss her.”I took her into my arms inhaling her scent. “Of course. I will miss her; she is my mother after all and I love her. But, not enough to encourage

MICHAELIt was so good to see how well she was received by the kingdom. I knew they would be like that as soon as they knew who she really was. She too looked happy, I didn’t know if it was because of the crown or the pregnancy. But it didn’t matter. What mattered was that she was happy. But I wouldn’t say the same about Aegen, he looked bothered before going to be crowned. I asked his mother to go and talk to him. I didn’t want him taking the crown if he didn’t want to.My daughter deserved more than that, though I didn’t think being with her was the problem. I was sure it had something to do with his family. That was why I asked his mother to talk to him.“Penny for your thoughts?” I snapped out of it. “I was just thinking about Aegen and what could be bothering him on a day like this. Doesn’t he want the child?” I asked his mother. I didn’t know what to think and I didn’t want to leave Ianna if things were not right with them.“No, it’s not that, he is looking forward to being a fa
