Marcus

“Sir, the proxy has arrived.” An elegant yet masculine voice said to someone. Its tone was relaxed, yet sounded carefully aligned which make the person behind that voice sound easy to talk to.

“…Has he now?” Another voice appeared, a deeper tone with clear and prompt pronunciation. Clearly someone who is good at talking. Then silence. “…I’m not sure if I’m ready to meet him or not.”

“Even though you are the one who ordered us to bring him here?” The other voice countered with a guessing tone.

“I’m not sure. One moment, I really wanted to meet this person you spoke of, but the next moment, my hesitance clouds my confidence. I wasn’t even sure if he knows me.” The other guy’s tone answered reluctantly. Am I meant to know this guy or what? Because I never had a friend who worked in a fancy looking office building in the middle of the city. Heck, I don’t even think I have any adult friends, except my older family members.

“Well, if you are you, then I’m sure he would know right away.” I almost missed that last bit to my pondering. Shaking myself off from my thoughts, I returned to listening their conversation.

“I hope so.” Another pause. “Bring him in.”

After overhearing that brief conversation, because whether I like it or not, I am standing right in front of the door to the office, and whether I want to or not, my hearing became overly sensitive because I am fairly nervous right now and is particularly bored.

That’s why I’m commenting on their voices, when I normally don’t. Because, in general, who wants to eavesdrop on their conversation and creepily commented about things they spoke of?

My steps suddenly halted when I entered the room. Inside the office room, which, for some reason, felt familiar in my gaze, were two people of a completely distinguishable feature from one another. One person, who was standing beside a huge office table, was weaving a gentle yet business-like smile at me. I’m starting to think that elegance is his whole persona, because even though I could see that he is a bona fide guy, with well-built features and tall stature, his demeanour makes you think that he could make a girl swoon by just a glance.

Cat-shaped amber eyes and long shiny ashen grey hair. His skin tone makes him look Nordic, and that pair of golden thin-rimmed semi rectangular glasses didn’t lessen his essence.

“Welcome. I hope your journey here is comfortable.” He then smiled.

For a moment, I was in awe of his beauty, but the next moment, my jaw hung loose in pure surprise. Why does he looked like someone I know?

Wait.

I do know him!

“Rox?” I mindlessly blurted. That won a puzzled look from him, as he passed his gaze between me and the person who was sitting at the table.

“It’s me, Marcus.” I tried to introduce myself. Whoa. Rox would be a professional bipolar if he could change his attitude from that to his mean vampire vibe inside the dream. I pointed at myself. “Don’t you recognize me-” I immediately stopped when my eyes then slid towards the next person.

It was as if his hawk-shaped eyes were staring right through me. I wasn’t sure why, but the moment our eyes met, I instantly held in my breath. Raven slick hair and a dark red gaze. The other guy is the embodiment of dominance himself. Although I can say for sure that he wasn’t like the most Alpha of the Alphas I have seen in televisions.

“I don’t mind you glancing at my prized secretary,” He stood up. Wow damn, he’s taller than Rox. “But you’re ogling him too much.” He said and sauntered to the front of the table, before leaning his back against it.

“Oh, you jest, Master.” The secretary smiled curtly and bowed down his head a bit.

The elegant secretary and the dominant guy looked like they have a good relationship. They probably have had this kind of light-hearted interactions before, seeing as to how relaxed the two of them were.

“We have retrieved Marcus Collins, Master Brock.” The friendlier-looking bodyguard said. “Now if you would excuse us.”

“Thank you.” The elegant masculine guy said, while this person called ‘Master Tyler’ nodded at them. They then left.

The room went into silence after the door was shut.

For some unknown reason, I feel comparatively small compared to the two of them. Well, I still couldn’t escape the glamour that dominant guy gave me, so when he told me to sit on the sofa, I quietly followed his orders.

“So, what do you want to drink?” The one named Master Brock made himself comfortable on the sofa seat across me and crossed his legs over one another. Meanwhile, the secretary was standing a few feet away from him.

“M-Me?” I finally managed to somehow utter something. Fidgeting, I glanced at Rox at a longer duration than Master Brock. “I-I’m fine with anything, really.”

Master Tyler raised an eyebrow. “That would be a hard statement to guess.” Then he turned to Rox. “What is your guess on the best drinks to serve a young and youthful adult, Shaun?”

The secondary caned his chin and pondered. “There’s actually quite a lot of options to choose. Youths these days likes something that piques their interest in trying it rather than enjoying it. And it’s still warm despite the changing season being close by, so maybe a unique kind of smoothy?”

“Oh.” The two of them automatically casted their look on me. I was thinking that maybe I shouldn’t speak about anything at all.

“I…” I nervously swallowed. “I am… Quite different than most youths these days. True enough, I would like something refreshing due to the weather, but just commonly found smoothy is okay with me.”

It felt like my energy is slowly being drained out of me as I spoke. I’m not good with strangers, and if I were to interact with one for a long period of time, my social battery would run out for the day, and in some cases, I wouldn’t even get to play my VR game for the rest of the day.

Suddenly I heard a snicker. I turned to see Master Tyler smiling a bit at me, as he said, “You’re finally saying something.” Then he whisked his hand, motioning the secretary to come closer to him.

“Give this kid some boba milk tea. Brown sugar one, macha one, and thai milk tea one. For me, I would like a mocha smoothie with extra chocolate pieces, and you are free to choose any drinks you want to buy.” He reached his chest pocked and handed the secretary a black card. “Be safe out there.”

The secretary smiled at him as he nodded. That in itself made me shot a strange look towards the two of them.

I know I said that he was dominance, but what did I just see.

“Okay.” After his secretary had left, he shuffled on his seat and heaved a sharp sigh. “Shaun will take some time, so before that, I will brief on you what happened.” His tone turned serious.

“Oh.” I swallowed nervously.
